Baishan City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, which is located on the west side of Changbai Mountain in Jilin Province, adjacent to Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Tonghua in the west, Jilin in the north, Huishan City in North Korea across the Yalu River in the south, 2 municipal districts, 2 counties and 1 autonomous county under its jurisdiction, and one county-level city in escrow. Located in the hinterland of Changbai Mountain, Changbai lava platform and Jingyu lava platform cover most of the territory, Longgang Mountains and Laoling Mountains run diagonally through the whole territory; it is a continental monsoon climate in the north temperate zone; the total area is 17485 square kilometers; the registered population is 1.181 million in 2018. Baishan City is one of the main timber producing areas in China. 60% of Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve is in Baishan City. Primeval forests provide conditions for wild animals and plants to reproduce. They are the "three treasures" of northeast China, ── ginseng, mink and pilose antler.
