Jinshan District, which belongs to Shanghai, is the outer suburb of the southwest of Shanghai, south of the Yangtze River in China and the south bank of the upper reaches of the Huangpu River, bordering Fengxian District in the east, Songjiang District and Qingpu District in the north, and Pinghu and Jiashan in the west. The whole territory is low and flat, and the ground elevation increases slightly from northwest to southeast.
