Qiqihar, also known as Hecheng and Bukui, is a prefecture-level city in Heilongjiang Province, located in the west of Heilongjiang Province. "Qiqihar" derives from Daur language and means "frontier" or "natural pasture". Qiqihar is located in the northeast Songnen Plain, located at longitude 122 to 126 degrees east and latitudes 45 to 48 degrees north. It is located at the confluence of Hei, Jilin and Inner Mongolia provinces and regions, facing Daqing and Suihua to the east, Baicheng City in Jilin Province to the south, Hulunbuir City in Inner Mongolia to the west, Heihe City and Daxinganling area to the north, 359 km to the provincial capital Harbin and 483 km to Heihe City, the port city of China and Russia. It has jurisdiction over 1 city, 8 counties and 7 districts, covering an area of 42500 square kilometers, with a total population of 5.297 million in 2018. Qiqihar has many tourist attractions, especially the Zhalong Nature Reserve, which has "the world's great wetlands and medium-sized wetlands".
