Tianshui, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Gansu Province, is located in the southeast of Gansu Province, adjacent to Guanzhong Plain. It is an important node city of Guanzhong Plain Urban agglomeration and the sub-core city of Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone. Tianshui, once known as Shangli, Chengji and Qinzhou, is said to be the birthplace of Fuxi and Nu WA, one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization, known as "the hometown of Emperor Xi".
