Yongzhou, elegantly known as "Xiaoxiang", a prefecture-level city in Hunan Province, is located in the south of Hunan Province. It has jurisdiction over 2 districts and 9 counties, with a total area of 22441 square kilometers, surrounded by mountains on three sides and complex and diverse landforms. The resident population is 5.4521 million in 2018. Yongzhou is a national forest city and a famous national historical and cultural city. Yongzhou can reach the Yangtze River northward through the Xiangjiang River and the Pearl River system through the Ling Canal in the south. It has been an important traffic fortress since ancient times and is the gateway from Hunan to Guangxi, Hainan, western Guangdong and southwest. Since Quanling was first established in 124 BC, Yongzhou has a history of more than 2100 years. In addition, Yongzhou is also the hometown of historical celebrities such as Huai Su, Huang Gai, Zhou Dunyi, Li Da, Tao Zhu and so on. Liu Zongyuan, one of the eight masters of the Tang and Song dynasties, was demoted to Yongzhou.
