Take the subway from Taipei Airport to Taipei City for about 160 Taiwan dollars per person. You can play in Taipei for 3 or 4 days, and then take the high-speed rail to Taichung. After taking the small train to Alishan for a day, and returning to Taichung, you can take the high-speed rail to Kaohsiung for 1 or 2 days and then return to Taichung to take a plane.
