The seventh-day Glacier Tourism Area is approximately 4 square kilometers, with breathtaking scenery in every season as seen from afar.
Due to the high elevation of the glacier, visitors often encounter various weather conditions such as rain, snowstorms, etc., experiencing four seasons within one day; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The current tourist route has been extended up to 3,800 meters to the alpine meadow, and then there are 5 kilometers of hiking trails leading to the tip of the glacier where a stone tablet inscribed with “Qingshan Bulao” (Ever-Youthful Mountains) is located.
A conservation station and reception center have been established at the foot of the glacier. Visitors can take the “Glacier Numbered Train” departing from Lanzhou, but it’s not direct; they need to get off at Jingtie Mountain Station and then transfer to another train.
We recommend hiring a car in advance for two round-trip rides taking approximately 9 hours with an estimated cost of around RMB 350. Ticket prices are as follows: adult tickets (excluding oxygen bottles) priced at CNY 161 per person; students, military personnel, disabled individuals, seniors aged 60 or above, and children under 1.5 meters tall priced at CNY 81 per person.

The total area of the Glacier Scenic Area is approximately 4 square kilometers. Every summer and autumn when the sky is blue and sunny, the glacier takes on a crystal appearance that will be mesmerizing alongside the gentle creek, lush green meadows, and blooming wildflowers at high-altitude pastures. Together, they form a breathtaking painting of serenity and vitality.

At present, the road in the travel zone has reached 3800 meters above sea level at the alpine meadow. From there, there are 5 kilometers of pedestrian trails to the end of the glacier tongue, where you can visit an inscribed stone stele that reads “The evergreen mountains never age; they have snowy white heads”. A conservation and reception station is set up at the foot of the glacier.
Transportation from Jiayuguan City takes the “Glacier Train” for 5.4 hours or so, but you need to get off at Jie’er Mountain Station before transferring another train. We recommend taking a car package service which will take around 9-10 hours round-trip and costs approximately CNY3,500.

Note that the Qiannan Glacier scenic area has ceased operations since April 5, 2017. This location is situated in Gansu Province, Jiayuguan City, at a distance of approximately 116 kilometers from its western side of the Qilian Mountains.
