Northern section has a big reputation - it’s where the good fellow’s place is, but there are many people and it’s steep; you can go see the human head. It is suggested to climb the southern section - it’s where the good fellow’s monument is located, rise up and have some views when you reach South Four.
I rode the cable car, so I don’t have personal experience to give you. However, there was a mother-daughter pair who took about two hours to complete the entire route, and mom is in her late 50s.
Southern line has few people, northern line has many. I climbed the south.
The northern route is challenging, completed in 3 hours.
The Great Wall suitable for middle-aged and elderly people in the south, and young people in the north. Additionally, from October to next April’s road on both sides of the wall is closed during winter season, can only go back along the original route.
There are too many people, we take a cable car, and it will only take around 10-15 minutes to get there.
Went to the entrance and there was security, during that time many people were going up from the north line section where it snowed earlier, including popular spots like Good Brother Slope, but I didn’t climb all of it as we had only a short amount of time so returned shortly.
The North Line is long, the South Line is short. It took me 2.5 hours to get through the Northern section
From North 1 Station to North 11 Exit, about 2 hours. The road from North 8 to North 11 has some steep sections and not recommended for elderly or children.
Going north or going south, it takes about an hour not to take a cable car.
Riding a chairlift, walking is too tiring, brother.
Don’t take the cable car, it’s recommended to self-drive tour. The group departure time is likely insufficient. After arriving at the North 8 landmark and returning, you’ll still need around 4 hours at least; after arriving at South 4, you can expect a return journey of about 3 hours at most.
Take the northern route, which doesn’t involve cable car rides, and it takes around 5-6 hours to hike up. It’s not tiring on the way up but can be a bit physically demanding when coming back down.
Time multiple north-south lines are all accessible, time fewer go to northern line and take a ticket, let me say it like that, there’s no challenge for Great Wall, just his fame is big, still ancient Ming dynasty.
I rode the round-trip cable car, walking and stopping on the Great Wall for three hours, which was enough to take pictures.
North line, got up not very rested quickly, I got to Beijing 8th Station, took a break for half an hour and took some photos along the road to go back up. Coming down from there was pretty good, and high speed train round trip.

North Line goes pretty fast upwards, then it’s quite steep going down. It’s relatively slow in comparison. Going northbound from North 11 would take around one hour and forty minutes or so.
It’s just because of history, I wouldn’t go otherwise. No big deal, it’s just a bit tedious to keep track of.
We climbed the North Great Wall, rode a stretch of cable car to avoid kids being exhausted, and this way of climbing was just right so it wasn’t too tiring physically. It’s different for each person.
Now it’s off-season, there aren’t many people early in the morning, and it takes about 1 hour to climb up north hall number eight. If you’re physically fit, you can keep climbing behind that; however, there are indeed some steep parts towards the back.
Northeastern scenery is good, the southern line’s walking route.
The best scenery is on the north line, it took around 2 hours to climb up and down from floor 12.
Climb to No. 8 in North and it’s the highest, I didn’t take a cable car with my kid, altogether takes about two hours long enough! Climbed up for less than an hour going down even faster!

Generally, it’s a climb up to the 12th floor from north side, but actually ending at around the 8th floor. It takes roughly about half an hour to climb straight to north 8th floor depending on individual physical ability.
I built the cable car, asked those who have not taken a ride on the cable car, less than two hours.
When few people, first choose the north route, suggest cable car, climb alone too tiring, prone to give up halfway, can’t reach the eighth floor of North Lookout and miss the best scenery; when many people, choose South Route.
If you don’t go with a group, suggest climbing the Great Wall of Beijing. Because the Southern Great Wall is very short and there’s not much to climb within 2 hours.
Have time, take the northern line then; at that time there were many people and we took a few hours to climb, after going down town has rope cars and cable cars. If walking downstairs halfway have restrooms and souvenir shops

We may not have enough time to reach the 12th floor, so we should probably just stop at the 8th floor.
Recommend climbing north, there are many scenic spots on the northern slope. If you have elderly people and children, climb south instead, as it’s easier to hike and there’s even a good looking stele; otherwise, there isn’t much else worth seeing.
The Great Wall of Badaling is divided into the Southern Great Wall and the Northern Great Wall, with the Southern Great Wall being relatively flat. I suggest climbing the Northern Great Wall from one floor to twelve floors, which took me less than three hours.
This time we’re climbing in the southern section, it’s really short, and we’ll be done soon. The southern section is a tramway on the ground, capable of transporting many people up and down at once.
Yesterday it snowed, no matter where you go, it’s not very convenient—too slippery; the road surface hasn’t frozen or accumulated any snow, so climbing the Great Wall should be a bit better…
People are too many, take the cable car then. It takes about 2 hours on the northern line and most people usually take that one.
Check-in counter begins, floor 8 of the North Line on the north line, then take the escalator down, don’t get off at that elevator stop 80, and wait in line for half a day. Then ride for one minute, it’s really frustrating to queue up
We took the escalator directly to Bei Si, and brought our kid to Bei 11, taking around 2 hours or so. After Bei Ba, there were fewer people.
Accompanied by my dad who’s 59 years old, climbing in north area, starting at 9:00 AM, arrived top around 10:20, finished exploring Brown Bear Park by 11:20.
Stunning Cable Car on South Line for Parents and Kids, a Little Expensive
Northerly direction is more fun, more exciting.
Walking down to the south building is slightly better, actually it’s not that different in terms of scenery.
Depending on the situation, sometimes there are many people on the northern line and sometimes there are many people on the southern line. Assessing the condition of that day again will decide, otherwise waiting in line would be quite long.
Taking the southern line, there are few people, relatively flat, and not much different in playfulness, views alike.
We climbed to the 8th floor at around 2 and a half hours, then slid down the slide for about 5 minutes to reach Bear Park, after which we could take public transportation out.
We’re from the north route, crawled up to the 8th floor of North. It’s about two hours around.
We took the northern route and didn’t take a cable car, just nine people old and young combined. We hiked our way up to North Five and turned back.
We bring along children and go back 2-3 hours, turn around at the north sixth floor, seeing more things.
Take the public transportation to Tian’anmen Station, take bus 877 directly for one person with a designated seat and get off at the Great Wall within no time without using cable cars.
We took a nighttime stroll along the Great Wall, but I felt that it wasn’t necessary to descend by tramway; just a moment, and all our time would be gone.
All can, it is recommended to rent a round-trip cable car. That way won’t be tiring.
Both can be key points are if you walk on the northern line, sit down and slide directly back down. However, doing a zip line in this place means being at Long City’s rear end, so please notice not to take wrong turns.

Many people do not recommend taking the Bei Chuan line, even if it’s a great scenic spot, you can’t find a corner to take pictures. It’s just like an excavator digging up a pit, wasting 2 hours of queuing for a mere 2 minutes ride that costs 100 yuan per person.
Northern scenery is good and there are many people; you can experience it yourself, whether to take a cable car depends on personal preference. The cable car may not have time to climb all the way up if there are too many people; probably won’t be able to make it to the top
We took a cable car led by a guide, waited in line for 1 hour, climbed the Great Wall for 30 minutes, and didn’t have that childlike experience anymore. If it weren’t for accompanying my kids, I wouldn’t come.
I am a southern line, to be honest, reaching South 5 is enough, climbing up the Great Wall of China’s city walls, I recommend walking down from below when going back, 2 hours in and out are sufficient, if there’s a queue another add waiting
The North Line is more classic, with the best scenery and relatively higher altitude; however, it also has a lot of people. The South Line might have fewer people.
Few people take the south line, I am taking the south line, I didn’t take a cable car, and it took me 2 hours to walk there and back. After passing by the fifth and sixth stations in between, I turned around and came back.
4 hours, suggest taking the south slope. However, still take the cable car for crowded people
We hopped straight from North 1 to North 12, took a cable car to save some effort. The north line is more fun and to take it easy on the south line
Don’t recommend buying a cable car ticket during peak season, the queue for the cable car is 90 minutes long, and it takes 5 minutes to get on. The scenery of Beilong Great Wall is even better, taking pictures and watching scenery while climbing.
Northern slope more treacherous, scenery more beautiful. Physical strength and time sufficient can go to both slopes, but if time limited personally feel like going to Northern Slope, since all Long Wall on TV are from North Slope.
I am North 8 (Hao Han Po) on the Beidaling Northern Line, said to have a relatively low difficulty. The stretch from North 10 South Line to North 8 is pretty tiring.
We’re climbing the Great Wall of Zhangjiawan, which is quite primitive and has a rough path; children under 5 should exercise caution to consider.
All can climb, it’s just not as efficient a way to get up without taking the cable car.
Having two children, 7 years old and 10 years old, I hiked to north gate in about an hour.
