Do I have to buy tickets online for the Forbidden City in Beijing? If I can’t buy them online, can I still buy them on-site?

You can't buy it online, and you certainly can't buy it on the spot. The Forbidden City is now restricted to tourists, and only receives 80,000 people a day, so it is best to buy tickets online in advance.

For the Chinese, you can also log in to the website to buy tickets on the spot. Foreigners can buy tickets on the spot at the window.
