Planning to spend about 10 days in Beijing, with one day scheduled for Happy Valley Resort. The location seems quite far away, so do I really need to book a hotel near it ahead of time? Or could I just take the subway directly from inside Beijing and skip the extra hour-long ride? Locals or friends who have been there before, is there any good advice you can offer me? Thank you (and disregard the in-resort hotels that are too expensive).
I think it’s not necessary to stay around in advance, if you don’t live at Galaxy Hotel. Other hotels won’t have much of an advantage and it would be more convenient if you go from the city center by subway anyway. Try to choose a hotel that has fewer transfers on the subway line as possible. My personal recommendation is only for those who want to play around here for two days, then staying at Galaxy Hotel would be best.
I’m staying at Hilton in Tongzhou (Global belongs to Tongzhou) a day earlier. The first morning, I waited for hotel pickup around 8am from Global’s ring bus at 7:30 am and stored my luggage and checked-in on the same day without specific room number. Swipe face early by one hour to enter the park at 8 am, played until late at night around 9 pm, then headed straight back to the Global Hotel for check-in. The second morning had many people arrived as early as 7:20am (normal time is 9am, hotel has priority check-in one hour earlier when there are too many people), luggage was still stored in hotel until returning home at 3pm. All projects performances have completed.
One must check in at Global Hotel or Noxen Hotel the evening before, because one can enter the park an hour ahead of schedule the next day. Don’t undermine this one-hour advantage, which allows you to not wait in line.
Personal recommendation, staying at a hotel near the globe is very necessary. The location of the globe is relatively remote, and it takes quite some time to get there by subway or taxi from the city area. Staying nearby can help you sleep in naturally wake up, eat a leisurely breakfast, and then go back to queue for entry; After spending all day at the globe, still pretty tired out, so don’t forget to rest well before going again! It’s light travel, storing luggage at the hotel only costs 99 yuan per piece. Parking is also expensive, friends who drive can consider leaving their cars at the hotel and taking a taxi to the globe.
Need is closer, the better. Or if it’s near to the subway exit, it’s convenient. When you come out, booking a car takes too long. We should go at 6:30 pm and wait in line then. If we’re late, you can’t play with several projects. Yesterday we just went through that experience, it’s best to buy the priority pass for five projects since there were too many people, each project waited about two hours or so? Especially Harry Potter Castle, three hours around. Would appreciate a honest response.
No need, wake up a bit earlier, there’s no traffic congestion on the Beijing subway again.
Travel to the Huanqiu Resort Area, and you don’t need to stay at a hotel near by one day in advance because transportation around Huanqiu is very convenient. You can take Metro Line 7 directly from here.
Is Happy Valley a ticket-through deal? Are the projects inside it using money to flow again?
There is no need; if you can’t stay at the global hotel, it’s better to take the subway today than leave.
Most theme parks now offer luggage storage services, making it more convenient for tourists to play around. Meanwhile, surrounding service providers will offer even more benefits at this time.
Going to Universal Studios, the previous time I arrived at 9:00 PM one night and stayed at the Jiu Ge Shu Zi Hotel. The next morning, we took a taxi from the hotel door about 10 minutes away and reached Universal Studios in no time. There was plenty of spare time!
It’s not necessary, I just lived in front gate to watch the flag raising, can even take subway early morning. I went on Saturday.
You can choose nearby homestays, not need to rush so quickly.
If accompanying the elderly and kids, staying at a resort is relatively more convenient. You can take priority to visit attractions with few people ahead of time, avoiding long queues. After playing all out, you can return to your hotel for rest.
Have you bought a half-day ticket before, and could you play normally?
It doesn’t matter, the scenic area entrance is right at the exit of the subway station and besides the subway operating hours are super long plus there’s a Ba Line.
Don’t need to, Beijing Metro is very convenient, can directly arrive within an hour.
7th line subway goes very conveniently. There’s no need to live near Universal CityWalk if you’re not flush with money. If you’ve got a lot of cash, living at a high-end hotel near Universal CityWalk is another story altogether.
The experience is very poor, I suggest not going there, especially during summer vacation! Waiting in line for two hours and experiencing only 30 seconds.
We are staying one day ahead and nearby hotels usually also have a free pick-up car.

Living nearby with kids will be closer, the parking lot is still some distance from the main entrance.
Take subway line at 8-speed hotel to go Tiananmen Square.
Don’t need to, there are too many people at Universals Beijing now, it’s also scorching hot during peak hours, and going is really punished.
I stayed at a nearby hotel one day in advance, hotels usually have free shuttle buses to pick up and drop off, get there early to queue up for entry.
Living nearby can let you get in early, but inside it’s a sea of people; popular projects have queues over 2 hours long. It doesn’t make sense to buy a ticket without queuing for that.
“It’s definitely going to happen, and you can go in early without waiting in line.”
I don’t think it’s necessary to stay at a hotel near the venue, unless you’re staying at Ringball Hotel. If not, other hotels don’t have much of an advantage; in fact, it’d be better just taking the subway from downtown - very convenient! Try to choose one with minimal transfers along the subway route. As for my personal recommendation, if you only plan to play for two days, I think staying at Ringball Hotel would be best.
I stayed at Hilton (located in Tongzhou, which belongs to Global) one day ahead of time. On the first day, I got on a Global shuttle bus at 7:30 am and arrived at the hotel by around 8 pm without waiting for my luggage. There was no specific room number yet, but I checked in early at 8 pm after finishing my earlier activities.
On the second day, there were many people lining up to enter from as early as 7:20 am (normal opening time is 9 am, with hotel priority allowing an hour-early entry when it’s crowded), so I didn’t need to check out until later. After leaving the hotel room, my luggage continued to be stored at the hotel and we returned home around 3 pm after completing all projects.
“Must check in to Global Hotel or Nu Jin Hotel one night ahead of time, as you can enter the park an hour earlier next day. Don’t underestimate this one hour; it’s possible to do something without queuing.”
Personal Recommendation: Staying at a hotel near Universal Studios is highly recommended. The location of Universal Studios is relatively remote, and taking the subway or taxi from the city center takes quite some time. By staying nearby, you can sleep in, eat breakfast casually, and then head to the park when it’s convenient;
After spending a day at Universal Studios, I’m still pretty exhausted. It’s best to rest well before going out to play with full energy! Light packing: The cost of storing luggage is 99 yuan per item; parking fees are also expensive. Friends who drive can choose to leave their cars at the hotel and take a taxi to Universal Studios
What’s needed is closer, and it would be better. Or if you’re near a subway exit, it’ll be more convenient when coming/leaving time takes too long to hail a ride. You should go in line at 6:30 pm. If delayed, you can’t do several projects at all. We just went yesterday and it’s best to buy an Express Pass for five projects since there are many people - each project has a wait of around two hours? Especially the Hogwarts Castle, which takes about three hours. Genuine feedback please.
It’s not necessary, wake up a bit earlier, the Beijing subway isn’t congested.
Go to the Global Times Holiday Zone, there is no need for advance booking at nearby hotels because traffic in and around the Global Times Holiday Zone is very convenient, and you can take subway line 7 directly.
Is Happy Valley a ticket pass? Do the projects inside it need to be paid for separately now?
“It’s unnecessary. If you can’t afford to live at the global hotel, it would be better to take the subway tonight.”
Currently, most scenic spots will provide luggage storage services, making it more convenient for tourists to play around. During this time, the surrounding scenic spot service providers will offer even more conveniences.
Went to Universal Studios, stayed one night ahead at 9th Tree Hotel by subway, and got a ride just 10 minutes away from the hotel doorstep on the next morning, which was quite time-efficient!
It’s not necessary; I live near the front gate because there are flags to watch, and in the morning it’s still possible to take the subway. I went on Saturday.
One can choose a nearby民宿 (minusp), no need to hurry up so much.
If you’re with an elderly person and children, staying at the global hotel is relatively convenient. You can go in early to take photos when there are few people, no need to wait too long for a turn, after playing tired also can return to the hotel to rest.
Have you ever bought a half-day ticket, can you play normally?
“It’s not necessary, just as you exit the subway mouth it becomes a scenic area entrance, and besides, the subway operating time is super long, including 8 lines.”
No need, the Beijing Metro is super convenient, and it takes about an hour to get there directly.
7th Line Subway leaves extremely conveniently. There’s no need to live near Universal Studios Hollywood. If you’re rich, staying at a high-end hotel near Universal Studios Hollywood is a different story altogether.
The experience is too poor; I would not recommend going, especially during summer vacation! You have to wait in line for two hours and the actual experience only takes thirty seconds.
We stayed at a nearby hotel the day before, and most hotels in this area usually also offer free shuttle buses.

Living nearby with kids will be closer, the parking lot is still some distance away from the main entrance.
Take subway line 8 to Tian’anmen Square from 8-speed hotel.
I don’t need to go there now, Universal City Walk is too crowded with people from all around the world and it’s hot during peak hours.
I am staying at a nearby hotel the day before, generally hotels offer free shuttle buses for pickup and dropoff, arrive early to queue up in advance.
Staying nearby can let you arrive earlier, however, it’s crowded inside with many people, popular projects have lines exceeding 2 hours, and it might be better to just buy a non-queue ticket.
It’s definitely okay to go in ahead of time, there won’t be any lines.
