Longxia Shan National Forest Park, located in Chongzuo City, Guangxi Autonomous Region, Jiangzhou District, Shijinlin Street, Longxia Mountain Road, obtained formal approval from the State Forestry and Grassland Administration in early 2023 to establish as a national forest park. The park is commonly known as “Chongzuo urban green lungs”, with an east-west length of approximately 3.1 km, north-south width of about 2.1 km, covering an area of 535.38 hectares and a forest coverage rate of 62.9%.

The region’s climate belongs to the south Asian subtropical monsoon type, characterized by spring warming followed by drought, hot summer with heavy rainfall, autumn cooling with dry conditions, and short winter with slight frost.

Solar radiation is relatively strong here, with afternoon temperatures on sunny days reaching above 70 degrees Celsius in midsummer. The annual precipitation ranges from 1,150 to 1,450 mm, relative humidity stands at around 82%, and there are no frosts for the full year, with an average of 346 frost-free days per annum.

The maximum wind speed can reach up to 7-22 m/s.

The park’s substrate is primarily composed of limestone and calcareous soil. The latter has a loose, sticking, nucleus-like structure as well as iron oxide nodules in various sizes. Soil pH levels range between approximately 6.5, with low nutrient content, moisture retention capacity. Due to the karst terrain features, surface water systems are underdeveloped; there is intense seepage and groundwater flow. This causes existing soil water-holding capacity issues.

The establishment of Longxia Shan National Forest Park not only provides an important venue for leisure activities and physical exercise for local residents but also effectively promotes reforestation and ecological restoration in the region, thereby driving further development of Chongzuo’s forestry ecosystem tourism.
Longxia Mountains National Forest Park is located in Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at No. 1 Longxia Road, Jiangzhou District, Shijin Village. It was formally approved by the State Forestry and Grasslands Administration in early 2023 as a national forest park.

The park has been nicknamed “Chongzuo’s Green Lung” because of its unique location within Chongzuo City. The area covers approximately 535.38 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 62.9%. The highest temperature can reach over 70°C on sunny days in summer and the average rainfall is between 1150-1450mm.

The park’s geological characteristics are characterized by rich limestone terrain, which has resulted in numerous karst features such as sinkholes, underground rivers, and a lack of surface runoff. However, this has created unique drainage channels that allow water to flow through the terrain and recharge groundwater reserves.

In addition to providing an important recreational area for citizens of Chongzuo City, the establishment of Longxia Mountains National Forest Park will also effectively promote local forest greening and vegetation restoration efforts. Furthermore, the park’s construction is expected to further drive the development of forestry-based eco-tourism in Chongzuo City.
