The Memorial Park of Heroes to the Martyrdom on Foka Mountain, located at 1 kilometer south of Binxia Town in Pingxiang City, Chongzuo Prefecture of Guangxi Autonomous Region and situated atop Shapoposhan Mountain, was built to commemorate heroes who sacrificed their lives during the defense battle for Foka Mountain in 1981.

The park was first established with a memorial hall dedicated to those who died there. In 1990, remains were transferred from six burial sites on mountaintops, and the area was expanded by digging trenches into which the soil had been excavated. The site was further transformed in recent years.

In 2009, it became one of the four nationwide major memorial facilities for revolutionary martyrs designated for renovation under an investment plan project supported centrally as part of a stimulus package to increase domestic demand and promote China’s development.

The main entrance is flanked by massive marble columns on which are inscribed “Foka Mountain Memorial Park” in big characters. The right side of the archway has a relief plaque with the inscription: “Introduction to Foka Mountain Memorial Park.”

There are 249 steps made from flagstone that wind up to the top, where there is a monument erected and surrounded by eternal flames at four sides. At its base is a stone tablet inscribed with the names and military ranks of all who died for their country.

The north side is burial ground for martyrs who fought bravely on Foka Mountain, resting in peace among flowers and trees here.

This site has been designated as Class A Historical Cultural Site by Guangxi Autonomous Region, a significant patriotic educational base where many people come each year to pay homage and remember the heroes’ heroic exploits.
The Foka Mountain Heroes Memorial Park Complex is located at the foot of Bopi Patrol Hill, about 1 km south of Xisha Community, Xinshi Township, Pingxiang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It was built to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives in defense of Foka Mountain during a battle in 1981.

The memorial park began construction in May 1986 and completed its first phase by moving the remains of the 154 martyrs who fell defending Foka Mountain into this site for collective interment, expanding it into the Foka Mountain Martyrs’ Cemetery. In 2007, it was renamed as the Foka Mountain Heroes Memorial Park.

Later on, through continuous renovations, it now became a comprehensive scenic area with educational value. The park’s main gate is constructed from large stones and is inscribed with “Foka Mountain Heroes Memorial Park” in bold characters. To its right lies “The Story of Foka Mountain Heroes,” followed by 249 stone steps leading to the hilltop where a monument stands tall.

At the foot of the monument, it reads “Revolutionary Martyrs Will Never Perish.” The pedestal is inscribed with the names and dates of birth and death of the heroes interred at this site. On top, there’s a sculpture of an PLA soldier in a helmet; Northward lies the tomb zone for martyrs who bravely gave their lives during battles to recover and defend Foka Mountain.

This memorial park is also a regional key national monument protection unit and an important patriotic education base. Each year, many people come visiting to pay homage to these heroes and learn about their heroic feats and sacrifices.
