It is about 20 kilometers away from the Pingtan Strait Highway Bridge at the south entrance of the strait that has been completed. The bridge started construction on November 13, 2013; it was completed on September 25, 2019; the upper highway section was opened for trial operation on October 1, 2020; the lower railway section was opened to traffic on December 26, 2020. The road on the upper level of the bridge is a 6-lane expressway with a speed of 100km/h, and the double-track railway on the lower level has a speed of 200km/h. The bridge starts from Songxia Town, Changle District, Fuzhou, passes through Renyu Island, Changyu Island, Xiaolian Island and Dalian Island, and ends at Suao Toll Station in Pingtan County. The upper highway is the Changle-Pingtan Expressway section, and the lower railway is the Fuping Railway section.
