The Pinggangling scenic area is located in Chongzuo City, Fusui County, Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture of Guangxi Province, China. There are underground Great Walls and military fortifications with a rich history at this location. Among them, the Underground Great Wall began construction in 1889 during Qing dynasty when Su Yuanchun served as commissioner of Guxi Border Defense Command to set up a comprehensive military defense system for Guangxi province on account of its geographical environment along Pinggang River; it built two gun emplacements, north and south facing guns, with the middle tunnel extending directly into Pinggang River over 1 km long, hence known as “Underground Great Wall”.
The Pinggang Ling is located in Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. There are underground Great Walls and military fortifications of historical significance at that site. Among them, the Underground Wall was first built in 1889 during the Qing dynasty, when Su Yuanchun, then Commander-in-Chief of Guangxi border defense, oversaw the construction of a military defensive system for Guangxi. The wall was constructed according to the natural terrain and geological conditions along the Pinggang Ling ridge, with two military fortifications north and south of it. Additionally, there is an underground tunnel linking these structures over 1,000 meters long that runs directly underneath the border river between China and Vietnam, hence earning its name as “the Underground Wall”.
