Liupanshui is located in Guizhou, and it gets its name from combining the initial letters of six places under its jurisdiction: Liuzhou, Pan county, Shuibei town. Since it’s summer vacation time, let’s start with the climate temperature first! Liupanshui can basically say that it has the lowest average temperature among all major cities in China during peak summer months. The average high temperature throughout the year is around 19°C. It was even recognized by a meteorological organization as one of its “cool” regions.
In fact, you almost wouldn’t need air conditioning here! During the hottest month, the daytime temperature usually stays at around 28°C, and it’s not uncommon for people to sleep outside covered with blankets. After an August rain shower, you might even spot someone walking down the street in their woolen sweater!
So how about renting a house? I know of a really affordable place called Chuanxin residential area that’s just north of Wanda Plaza, near the Kirin Park. It’s an older neighborhood with many small subdivided apartments for rent, each with its own bathroom and cooking facilities. The price is around ¥5 to 8 per month. However, it’s quite simple inside.
On the east side of Wanda Plaza (about 1.5 km away) there’s a property called “Shangcheng Impression”. There are many apartments for rent here as well. The conditions here aren’t bad at all – they’re equipped with home appliances and kitchen utensils, and it takes about ¥10 to get into the studio apartment single rooms. Each room is approximately 40-50 square meters in size! The monthly price starts around ¥1,000.
If you need a two-bedroom place, the price would be roughly¥15,00 per month. Across from Liupanshui Teachers’ Normal College there’s Xinhua Yuan residential area, which also has many single-apartment rentals available for rent. In terms of room conditions, prices usually range from ¥1 to 15 per mo nth.
Just a short walk away is the beautiful Ming Lake National Wetland Park! The environment here is very nice and close to schools too – there are plenty of eateries nearby that make dining out convenient as well.
Friend, can you find a homestay that includes meals and accommodation in the Hui Cheng District or Zhong Shan District where one room with two beds is available? If it’s not an elevator apartment, it would be best to be on three floors below.
Liping Shui is located in Guizhou, and its name comes from combining the first characters of Liuchang, Panzhou, and Shanghai. Since it’s a summer destination to escape the heat, we’ll talk about the climate temperature first. Liping Shui can almost be said as one of the cities with the lowest average temperature during summer in China, with an average high temperature of 19 degrees Celsius throughout the entire summer. Hence, it has been granted the title “Cool City” by the Meteorological Organization. It’s rare to need air conditioning here; even on the hottest days, the midday temperature is only around 28 degrees. We sometimes need to lay a sheet over us while sleeping at night. If it rains at the end of August, you might see people wearing wool coats walking in the streets.
In summary, summer is indeed extremely comfortable and pleasant here. Let’s talk about renting apartments first - I know a very affordable place called Chuanxin Community, located around 1 kilometer north of Wanda, close to Qiulin Park. This community has old residential buildings that have subdivided units for rent, each with its own bathroom facilities, kitchen, etc., priced between CNY 500-800 per month. However, the conditions are relatively simple, but it’s very affordable.
On the east side of Wanda, around 1.5 kilometers away from our current location, there is a property called “Shàngchéng Yǐxiàn” that also has many public houses for rent. The living conditions here are quite good - they have various appliances and kitchenware, with big studio apartments priced around CNY 1000-1500 per month. If you need a two-bedroom apartment, the price is usually around CNY 1500-2000 per month.
On the other side of Liping Shui Normal University there is another community called Minghu Community that also has many public houses for rent - with various room conditions and prices ranging from CNY 1000 to 1500. Walking distance, you’ll reach the beautiful scenic park Xihu National Wetland Park; as local restaurants abound near schools as well, eating out can be quite convenient.
