The stone tablet of “Qi Jiguang and Li Shizhen’s Landing Place in Taicang City” is located in the park at the east end of the Maiyang Bridge pier. By the time of the Yuan Dynasty, the area near the bridge had become a bustling market. The pharmaceutical scholar Li Shizhen and the anti-Japanese hero Qi Jiguang respectively traveled by boat to Tai in the eighth and thirteenth years of the Ming Wanli era, visited the master of the literary circle Wang Shizhen, and requested prefaces for their works “Compendium of Materia Medica” and “Zhi Zhi Tang Ji.” It is said that they landed by the side of Maiyang Bridge.

The ancient name of Mianyang Bridge is “Gulou Bridge,” which was built in the second year of the Yuan Dynasty, and it became a bustling market nearby during the Yuan Dynasty. The pharmacologist Li Shizhen and the famous general Qi Jiguang landed at Taihuai in the eighth and thirteenth years of the Ming Wanli period, respectively, to visit the literary master Wang Shizhen, seeking prefaces for their works “Compendium of Materia Medica” and “Zhi Zhi Tang Ji.” It is said that they landed at the side of Mianyang Bridge.
