The Yunkai Scenic Area belongs to Zhongyandian Mountain, among which the Yuexiong Peak is a landmark of Zhongyandian. The peak resembles a Daoist’s bun and hence is called Daosishui (Rock). Its shape resembles an overturned bronze bell rising out of the ground, awe-inspiring. Around the peak are sites such as Buddha Hand Cliff, Store-Jewel Rock, Group Fish Rock, Immortal Teacher Rock, Fire Mountain, Brush Stand Mountain, Dushan Peak and so on, which together form a perfect landscape shaped like various objects.
Yuexiang Cave is 15-16 meters wide and high, with the entrance stone wall laid across. The cave mouths in an east-southeast direction. Winter has no cold winds, summer has no scorching heat; there is Yu Spring inside the cave, clear and sweet-tasting water that never dries up. Looking down from the entrance, you can see rows of mountains arranged like piles of grain, with the distant sea and boats scattered here and there, where seagulls glide on billowy bits of sailcloth below. There are two lakes at foot level, resembling a precious mirror or jade plate.
The site is listed in Shenzhen’s Comprehensive Survey (Divine Immortals’ Catalogue) as one of its 36 Caves to Heaven.
Note: The ticket price for the Yunkai Scenic Area is RMB30; there are no shuttle buses between hiking trails and parking areas, only rural bus services. After a 30-minute hike going up, you will arrive at the toll gate (no refund if not paid).
Yongjia Yuling Scenic Area belongs to Zhilian Mountain Scenic Area, among which Yuling Peak is a sacred symbol of Zhilian Mountain. It’s also known as Daoshi Rock because its shape resembles a Taoist priest’s headcloth, and it looks like an inverted copper bell protruding from the land, imposingly grand. Surrounded by Buddha’s Hand Stone, Zhenzhu Stone, Tunyu Stone, Xianshi Stone, Huoyan Mountain, Bijiashan Mountain, and Shuangxi Peak, all are exceptional geological formations.
Yulihong Cave is about 15-16 meters high, with a massive stone blocking the entrance. It winds up like a long ribbon suspended in mid-air, with its entrance facing east by southeast. In winter, there’s no harsh wind; in summer, there’s no sultry haze inside or outside. Inside the cave lies a jade spring that flows steadily year-round and never dries out. From the entrance looking down on surrounding mountains, they resemble stacked millet. Looking afar at the sea, boats and sails are visible, with the twin lakes below resembling precious mirrors set within jade plaques. Watching daybreak at dawn or sunset’s fading light changes dramatically, lifting one’s spirits, which is why Yuanding Cave was ranked as one of 36 heavenly caves in “The Divine Traveler’s Atlas”.
Please note that Yongjia Yuling Scenic Area charges an admission fee of ¥30. The scenic area has either a cable car point or a hiking trail entrance with a distance of 3.1 kilometers between the two points, taking around 40-50 minutes to walk. No public transportation is available; only rural buses and no footpaths can be taken without paying at the charging station that appears halfway up the mountain. You won’t be allowed access unless you return along the original route or pay for entry.
