The Ruins of the Dai King’s Palace are located in Manling Road 35, Manling Park, Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. According to historical records, this was once the capital of Jinglong Jin Dynasty (also known as Mengla Kingdom) in the history of Xishuangbanna, as well as the location of the former highest ruler’s office in Xishuangbanna, the Dai King’s Palace. During the Song Dynasty, the area of Xishuangbanna was under the jurisdiction of the Dali Kingdom. At that time, there were constant disputes among various tribes. Chief Panya of Mengjingzhen used methods such as pacification, military conquest, and annexation to calm the disputes and unite the tribes. After that, he was封 as the General of the Song Dynasty and was allowed to establish the Jinglong Jin Dynasty. The capital was initially built in Jinglan and later moved to Yunpa Sui, which is now the site of the ruins of the Dai King’s Palace. This area is surrounded by water on three sides, backed by green mountains, and is strategically easy to defend and difficult to attack, becoming the center of the feudal lords’ rule over Xishuangbanna throughout the dynasties.
