Shantou General Post Office Building, commonly known as “Old Anping Post and Telecommunications Office” or “Anping Post Office”, was completed in 1922 and is located at No. 24, Huai’an Juwei Waima Road, Hai’an Street, Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. The building is oriented from northeast to southwest, with a two-story three-in-one structure of stone, steel bars and cement. It covers an area of 1,449 square meters and a construction area of 1,042.8 square meters. The entire building is well preserved and is a popular place for tourists. The Shantou General Post Office Building is one of the two most complete postal buildings in Guangdong that adopts the European architectural style. It is also the first self-built post office since the opening of Shantou as a port. It has witnessed the development history of postal communications in Shantou, Guangdong and even China. In 2005, it was announced as the third batch of Shantou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Units by the Shantou Municipal People’s Government.
