If you want to watch the flag-raising ceremony, don’t go too early, put it on the second or third day. The first day can just visit the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park. On the second day, you can go watch the flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square, then walk past it and get to Beihai Lake from there directly. On the third day, you can choose to stay in the Summer Palace or leave after seeing only the grand water fountain; if you want to see more of the palace, give yourself a full day for that part, because it’s really quite big. When going, it’d be best to pick up an album at the tourist center and take notes on how to get around. You can also stay in the park for boat rides.
On the fourth day, you can see both the Olympic Rowing-Canoeing venues and Qinglong Lake from 9:00 am to early afternoon; then you can go to Tiantan Park, which is also pretty big, especially if only visiting Qianyuan Hall and Temple of Heaven. If going in-depth at Tiantan, plan for the whole day.
On the fifth day, go to Shichahaizi Lake and Guangming Dafu. Visit Guangming Dafu from 9:00 am; after about three hours, you’ll pretty much be done with it. After leaving Guangming Dafu, you can find a place to eat at Shichahaizi Lakewaterway and then just wander around there.
On the sixth day, take a longer trip away like visiting Mutianyu Great Wall or something. On the seventh day, relax near your hotel in Wangfujing Street, Wujiating Street, have some fun strolling about, rest up, get ready to head back!
Round Treasures Garden, Heaven Temple, and Yihe Garden, are they closed on Mondays?

The Forbidden City is arranged for one day, as it’s quite large and you can take a stroll around the whole place. On the second day, climb to Jingshan Park in the morning and look out at the great view. Then go to Beihai Park, and finally take an evening cruise on Shichahai Lake. The Water Cube is only scheduled for one day. Tsinghua University’s campus has restricted access now, so there’s no need to add it to your itinerary. Visit Tianqian in the morning and Nanlouguxiang in the afternoon, taking a half-day tour of each place. There are many museums in Beijing, which allows you to pick and choose a few to visit.
Square, Forbidden City, Jingshan Hill, Beihai Park, and Shichahai gather together. Water Cube and Bird’s Nest go at night. Yuyuan Garden, Yuanmingyuan, Qinghua University, and Tsinghua University go around. Nán lóu háng kōng goes away.
