World Cultural Heritage - Mount Wutai Scenic Area
Mount Wutai is the ashram of Manjusri Bodhisattva. Together with Mount Emei in Sichuan, Mount Putuo in Zhejiang and Mount Jiuhua in Anhui, it is known as the four famous Buddhist mountains. It is known as "Golden Wutai, Silver Emei, Copper Putuo, and Iron Jiuhua". Mount Wutai, Lumbini Garden in Nepal, Sarnath in India, Bodh Gaya, and Kushinagar are known as the world's top five Buddhist holy places. And with its long history and culture and large-scale temple complexes, it ranks first among the four famous Buddhist mountains.
Wutai Mountain is one of the earliest places of Buddhist architecture in China, and there are still 47 temples inside and outside Taiwan. Among them, Foguang Temple and Nanchan Temple are the two earliest extant wooden structures in China. Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Bodhisattva Temple, Shuxiang Temple, and Luohou Temple are listed as the "Five Zen Places of Mount Wutai". Wutai Mountain is also a Buddhist monastery in my country with both Qingmiao (Chinese Buddhism) and Huangmiao (Tibetan Buddhism), so Han, Mongolian and Tibetan ethnic groups coexist harmoniously here. In midsummer, tourists and pilgrims from home and abroad come to visit, burn incense and worship Buddha, and there is an endless stream.
World Cultural Heritage - Yungang Grottoes
Yungang Grottoes is a world cultural heritage, a national 5A-level scenic spot, and the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. One of the three major grottoes in China (the rest are Mogao Grottoes, Longmen Grottoes, and Maijishan Grottoes are one of the four major grottoes in China).
The Yungang Grottoes are the first large-scale grottoes built by the royal family (Northern Wei Dynasty) after the spread of Buddhism to the east. It took a dynasty to chisel and build, integrating Chinese and Western cultural and artistic styles.
