Sichuan·Yanyuan·Lugu Lake·China's most romantic lover bridge (marriage bridge)

The "Walking Marriage Bridge" of the Mosuo people was originally called "Caohai Bridge", also known as "Lover's Bridge", known as "the best magpie bridge in the world".

Caohai Bridge is a connecting bridge connecting the Mosuo walking marriages on both sides of the Caohai Sea. It evokes the infinite reverie of people crossing the bridge today about "walking marriage", and also contains people's dreams and yearning for walking marriage.

Walking Marriage Bridge is located in the southeast waters of Lugu Lake in Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province. It spans the grass sea of floating reeds. It is the only bridge on Lugu Lake and is now a well-known landscape in Lugu Lake Scenic Area. Under the bridge, due to years of sedimentation, the water depth has become shallow, and there are dense reeds growing there. From a distance, it looks like a sea of grass, so it is called "grass sea".

It is said that before this bridge was established, it was very difficult for young men and women on both sides of the Caohai to get married. Because there is a Caohai, the grass in the Caohai often entangles the boats passing by, so it is very difficult to go to the other side by boat. Quite inconvenient, in order to make men and women on both sides of the strait no longer suffer from lovesickness, the bridge we have now came into existence later.

Before the "Walking Marriage Bridge", people on both sides of Caohai longed for a bridge, but it was never realized. So a myth and legend was left to future generations: "Mu Tianwang once led the heavenly soldiers and generals to build a bridge on the Caohai Sea". This myth and legend has been widely spread among the Mosuo people in Lugu Lake. The story goes like this: In ancient times, King Mu Tian was moved by the sincere love between Goddess Gemu and Houlong, and imagined building a stone bridge on the grass sea. Let the lovers on both sides of Caohai get married through the bridge, and report to the Jade Emperor. After hearing this, the Jade Emperor approves Mu Tianwang to lead the heavenly soldiers to build the bridge at night. He also limited the time for the construction of the bridge. The materials for the construction of the bridge were all brought from other places by heavenly soldiers. On the last night when the bridge was to be erected, the stone slabs for the construction of the bridge could not be transported. Wait, wait, Mu Tianwang really can't wait, So he went to chase the heavenly soldiers to carry the stone slabs. When Mu Tianwang led the heavenly soldiers to move back the last batch of stone slabs, before the bridge was built, the rooster barked, and the dog barked too. Since then, people have reported and asked the local chieftain to build a "walking marriage bridge". Finally, during the chieftain period, the people contributed and raised funds to build the "walking marriage bridge". After the completion of the Walking Marriage Bridge, only a few young people in walking marriages still keep the pig trough boat walking marriage, and most of them complete the process of walking marriage through the "Walking Marriage Bridge".

The Walking Marriage Bridge has a total length of 300 meters. It may be the longest wooden bridge in the world. It is only for people on both sides of the Caohai River to come and go. After liberation, the bridge was rebuilt. Most of the wood of the century-old bridge has been rotted or destroyed, scattered in the sea of grass, so it was abandoned. Adjacent to the old bridge is the newly built new bridge, which is beautiful in shape and also made of wood. The bridge deck is about one meter above the water surface, and there are wooden railings on both sides, which is very safe. The new bridge is repaired every two or three years. Walking the Marriage Bridge I know how many pairs of lovers and partners have walked across the bridge from ancient times to the present, but you can imagine the scene when the "Axia" walked across the bridge.

On both sides of the Walking Marriage Bridge are the sea of grass and large reeds in the growth lake. Walking on the bridge, both sides of the bridge are full of golden yellow and dry seaweed. Because walking on the Marriage Bridge is related to the love of the Mosuo people, it is also regarded as a bridge of love by many couples. Couples and tourists will walk on it hand in hand to feel the ancient romance of the Mosuo people. Therefore, everyone calls it Love Bridge, Lover Bridge, and Walking Marriage Bridge, and it is worthy of being called "the best magpie bridge in the world"!
