Sichuan · Yanyuan · Lugu Lake · Dazu Village
Dazu Village is located at the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan in the northwest of Lugu Lake. It is the last village in Sichuan, Luguhu Town, Yanyuan County, and adjacent to Xiaoluoshui Village in Yunnan. Such a geographical location is more convenient for sightseeing routes. Going east from Dazu Village is Lover's Beach, Goddess Bay, Lugu Lake Town, Caohai, and Zuowei Bridge. Going west is Yang Erche Namu's House, Yang Erche Namu Museum, etc. Crossing the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan is Xiaoluoshui, Nisai Village, Lige Village, etc., surrounded by Lion Mountains behind, and across the lake is Da Falling Water Village.
Dazu Village is also called "Dazui Village". Part of the village lives around the arc of the lake, and part of it lives around the foot of Jingtang Mountain. The whole village is built along the lake. Unlike other Mosuo villages beside Lugu Lake, Dazu Village is a large village mainly inhabited by Naxi people. Most of the villagers are Naxi people who believe in Dongba religion. Also known as "Naxi Ancient Village". However, this branch of the Naxi people has migrated to Lugu Lake for more than a thousand years, and they are very close to the Mosuo people, a branch of the Naxi people. Like the Mosuo people, they also believe in Tibetan Buddhism.
According to legend, the Naxi people in Dazu Village, Lugu Lake are descendants of soldiers from Mufu, Lijiang (recorded in detail in Locke's "Naxi Kingdom in Ancient Southwest China"). Sichuan crossed the road into Yunnan. Lijiang Mufu sent troops to station in Baijiaoba (now in Yongning, Yunnan Province). Naxi soldiers had experienced hundreds of battles with Mongolian soldiers and achieved a lot of victories. They used their wit and mighty and vigorous body to defeat the Mongolian soldiers time and time again. It was not until 1723 that the Mu family lost its position as the leader of Lijiang and the Naxi Kingdom disintegrated. These soldiers became refugees and never returned to Lijiang, but looked for a place to settle down, so they settled down on the shore of Yongning Lake (now Lugu Lake) on the slope of Lion Mountain.
Although Dazu used to be surrounded by the Zuosuo chieftain's territory in Yanyuan, it was under the jurisdiction of Muli Living Buddha and was called an "enclave" in Muli. In about 1957, Yanyuan and Muli were separated for the convenience of management. After negotiation, the "Dazu Village" under the jurisdiction of Muli in Yanyuan was exchanged with the "Housuo" under the jurisdiction of Yanyuan in Muli. Since then, Dazu Village has been under the jurisdiction of Yanyuan County.
American scholar Locke once praised Lugu Lake in this way: "I can't imagine a more beautiful environment than this. The deep blue lake is as clear as crystal. At the foot of the mountain with forests, especially under the shade of trees, the water changes from dark blue to purple. The lake is surrounded by mountains with forests. The mountains form deep valleys on each side, and the streams in the valleys flow into the lake. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere here is really wonderful. The birds float on the sea calmly like ships, and everything It’s all peaceful. It’s really a place suitable for immortals to live in!” In such a beautiful environment, there lived a group of industrious, simple and kind people, they were the Naxi people of Dazu Village in Lugu Lake.
