Halfway through 2019, I haven't traveled for a long time, and the most recent trip was the trip to Wuyuan in the spring of 2018. This time I went back to Beijing on vacation. I had two days of free time. I searched around Beijing and found no places I wanted to go. It happened that Beijing was holding the 2019 World Horticultural Exposition. This is a two-day tour of the Great Wall and the Expo.

Go to the indoor exhibition hall during the sun exposure period.

【Travel Notes】
【Day1 June 18th】
We set off from home at 7:00 in the morning and drove to the Badaling Great Wall. This time happened to be the morning rush hour for work. We chose to take the Sixth Ring Road, and then took the Badaling Expressway (Beijing-Tibet Expressway). The Badaling Expressway used to be the most congested expressway in Beijing, especially with a lot of large vehicles. At present, trucks of more than 4 tons are not allowed to enter the high-speed direction entering Beijing, and trucks of more than 2 tons are not allowed to enter the direction leaving Beijing from 6:00 am to 14:00 noon.
There are multiple parking lots in the Badaling Great Wall Scenic Area. The topmost one is the Guntiangou parking lot, which is closest to the entrance of the Great Wall. From here, you can climb the Great Wall without taking the shuttle bus of the scenic spot; the lower ones are Heilongtan parking lot and Chaxi parking lot, here You have to take the free shuttle bus from the scenic spot to the Guntiangou parking lot to climb the Great Wall. There are not many vehicles in the Guntiangou parking lot, which are usually reserved for travel buses and staff vehicles in the scenic spot. Private cars can also go up in the morning when the staff in the scenic spot are not at work.
It was already past eight in the morning when we arrived at the scenic spot. We were guided by the staff to the Chaxi parking lot, and from here we took the free shuttle bus to the scenic spot. Today is not a weekend, and I came early, the tourist bus from the city has not yet arrived, there are not many vehicles parked in the parking lot, and there are not many tourists taking the shuttle bus. The last time I came to the Great Wall was ten years ago, just in time One weekend during the last summer vacation, there were almost no parking spaces in the parking lot, and I had to wait in line for more than half an hour for the shuttle bus, which was an old crime.
The shuttle bus takes less than ten minutes to the entrance of the Great Wall. There is a tour guide on the bus who briefly introduces the precautions for taking the bus, the general situation of the Badaling Great Wall and other information. The terminal of the shuttle bus is the Guntiangou parking lot. From here, you can take the cable car directly to the Great Wall, walk up the city and then walk 800 meters forward to reach the city boarding ticket gate. Tickets for the Great Wall have been purchased from online real-name reservations starting from June this year. Tickets are 40 yuan, and you can enter the park with your ID card. As a 5A-level scenic spot known as the eighth wonder of the world, compared with the high-priced tickets of some scenic spots in other places, which can easily cost two to three hundred yuan, this price is really close to the people.
There are 7 gate towers on the south route and 12 gate towers on the north route. The departure starts from the ticket gate of Guancheng. Generally, everyone who goes to Badaling will go to the North Great Wall. The opening time of the North Great Wall In the early morning, there are many tourists, and there are many places to take pictures. The North Eighth Floor is the highest point of the Badaling Great Wall, and it is also the upper and lower stations of the cable car. If you have good physical strength, you can continue walking without going back. There is a mountain pass near the north tenth floor, and you will come out to Badaling Bear Paradise. You can also choose to continue to the end of the northern line - North Twelfth Floor, and then return to the lower pass. Of course, you can go to the south line first to take a photo with the stele of heroes, and then go to the north line. It takes 2-3 hours to hike and climb the Badaling Great Wall.
This is the fifth time for me to visit the Badaling Great Wall. The first time I came when I was in college in 1985, and the last time was ten years ago. Every time I came here, I climbed up step by step from below. Because there will be a visit to the garden in the afternoon, in order to save time and energy, I chose to take the cable car to the Great Wall this time. The ticket for the cable car is 140 yuan for a round trip and 100 yuan for a one-way trip.
After going up the cableway, it is directly on the eighth floor of the north. The scenery here is the best, and it is the best place to enjoy the panoramic view of the Badaling Great Wall. The most dangerous is the section from the 8th floor to the 10th floor in the north. The hero slope is on this section. Only when you climb this section of the Great Wall can you be considered a hero.
The Great Wall is the longest and most extensive military defense facility in the world. It is famous all over the world for its wide distribution, huge engineering and majestic magnificence. It can be called a natural architectural wonder that combines military engineering, architectural art and nature ingeniously.
The Badaling Great Wall was built in the Ming Dynasty. The city wall is built with strips of stone, which is very strong and is the highest architectural specification among the Great Walls. The walls are high, deep and heavy, giving people a sense of indestructibility.
We stopped for a while on the tenth floor of the north, watching the sun getting hotter and hotter, and the number of tourists coming up gradually increased, so we took the cable car down the mountain, and there was a free photo at the entrance of the cable car station. We didn't think too much about each person going up and taking a photo .
At this time, there were not many tourists who took the cable car back. They sat down the mountain in an empty cable car. At the cable car station at the foot of the mountain, they went to ask for photos taken on the Great Wall. Only then did they know that the free 1-inch photos were sent, and the enlarged ones cost 50 yuan. Seeing that the photos were taken well, I spent 100 yuan to take two enlarged photos.
Come out and take the scenic spot shuttle bus back to the Chaxi parking lot. The entire Great Wall tour takes less than 2 hours. Drive to Yanqing City, where the Beijing Expo is located. The Badaling Great Wall Scenic Area is only 10 kilometers away from the Expo. It takes 20 minutes to drive to the GreenTree Inn Hotel, which is only 3 kilometers away from the Expo. There is a large parking lot at the entrance of the hotel. field. Due to the World Horticultural Exposition, the prices of hotels in Yanqing have skyrocketed. Although it is an economical hotel in the outer suburbs, the price is more than 400.
After a short rest at the hotel, it was time for lunch. I searched on the wind, and chose a Northeast iron pot stewed fish that ranks high in Yanqing cuisine. I picked a 3.5-jin Wujiang fish, served with wide noodles, potatoes, lettuce and other side dishes, corn cakes, and stewed in a large iron pot. The taste is really good, authentic Northeast-style stove fish.
After lunch, I went back to the hotel for a lunch break. In mid-June, Beijing was very sunny during the day, and the highest temperature today reached 35 degrees. It would not be a good time to go outdoors at this time.
Rest at the hotel until 4:00 p.m., and then drive to the Expo. At this time, the sun feels much weaker than a few hours ago.
The 2019 Beijing China International Horticultural Exposition (hereinafter referred to as the Beijing Expo) is an international event approved by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). From 29th to October 7th, it will be held in Yanqing District, Beijing, with a duration of 162 days. The first International Horticultural Exposition was held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 1960, and has been held for more than 30 sessions. Before that, China had successfully bid for the Kunming Expo, Xi’an Expo and other Expos. The Beijing World Horticultural Exhibition will have a core area of 503 hectares, more than 1,200 new species of plants, and more than 100 special exhibition gardens. Expo at the foot of the Great Wall".
Tickets for the Beijing Expo will be reserved online. Tickets are 120 yuan on weekdays and 160 yuan on designated days (holidays). There are corresponding discounts for the elderly, students and soldiers, and a 10% discount for tickets purchased 2 days in advance. Enter the park at 8:00 in the morning, stop at 18:30, close at 21:30 in the evening, enter the park at 16:00 on the first day, and the ticket is still valid for the next day (the first day is a weekday, and the second day is a designated day except).
Beijing Expo 2019 is very large, covering an area of 503 hectares, the size of two Summer Palaces. It takes at least two days for all the venues and exhibition gardens to turn around. If it catches up with holidays and weekends, there will be queues for popular venues. It is best to download the "Expo2019" mobile app. Through this app, you can plan the tour route, learn about the introduction of each exhibition hall and exhibition garden, and make an appointment for the Guirui Theater. Special reminder that the Guirui Theater has only 1,000 seats. You must make an appointment in advance to watch the performance. Because the mobile phone application will locate the location of tourists when making an appointment, and only in the park area can the reservation application be submitted, so the reservation application should be submitted as soon as possible after entering the park.
I planned two half-day tour routes. On the first day, I went to the China Pavilion, the International Pavilion, and the World Gardening Exhibition Area. I went to the Guirui Theater to watch the light and shadow show and the music fountain performance at 8 pm. On the second morning, I went to the Baiguoyuan, Baishuyuan, Botanical Museum, Gardening Town, Flower Field, Yongning Pavilion and other scenic spots.
According to the Expo2019 mobile application guidelines, drive the car to the P4 parking lot closest to Gate 1. Here, I would like to praise the parking lot setting of the Expo. The Expo has set up a total of 9 parking lots with more than 17,000 parking spaces. There is a charge of 10 yuan per car parking. Today is a weekday, Ruoda's parking lot is empty, and there are not many cars parked.
The parking lot is only one road away from the gate of the scenic spot. The theme of Gate No. 1 is the Gate of Ritual and Music.
At the service station of the gate, you can get a guide map of the Expo, and you can also go to the merchandise sales place to buy a "Passport" for the Expo, which costs 30 yuan. This passport can go to each national venue in the park All stamped with the seal of this country, it is a punch card, which is very commemorative.
The World Horticultural Exposition will enter the park with identity verification. Each gate will have a volunteer to provide services. There will be a little experience in the Expo. Volunteers are everywhere. We thank these volunteers for their contributions to this Expo.
The first stop is the China Pavilion, which is one of the most popular venues at the Expo. Fortunately, it is already afternoon, and there are many fewer tourists, so we can enter without queuing.
Both ends of the roof of the China Pavilion are slightly raised, as light as a bird spreading its wings. The semi-circular wooden outline stretches like a warm jade ruyi among the green mountains and green waters. The steel structure roof of the China Pavilion is equipped with photovoltaic glass, which has higher light energy absorption efficiency. Most of the exhibition halls of the exhibition hall are built under the terraced fields, which are integrated with the landscape of the earth, reflecting the integration of farming civilization and horticultural culture. A rainwater collection system is installed on the roof, the site is paved with permeable water, and a rainwater storage tank is installed underground. The recycled rainwater will be used for terrace irrigation to form an ecological microcirculation.
The exhibition content of the China Pavilion is composed of four parts, namely the exhibition area of horticultural industry achievements of Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, the exhibition area of Chinese horticultural high-tech achievements, the exhibition area of flower arrangement art of China's intangible cultural heritage and the exhibition area of ecological culture. The exhibition areas of each province, autonomous region and city have their own characteristics, showing the beauty and cultural characteristics of horticulture in each region.
What attracts the audience most in the Heilongjiang exhibition area is this huge wild Ganoderma lucidum, and specially reminds the audience: Ganoderma lucidum is real, please do not touch it.

Along the tour route, at the exit on the first floor is a sunken water garden with a diameter of 16 meters, which is used to collect rainwater from the roof.
When you come out of the China Pavilion, you will face Guishui Lake. This lake was built with the original abandoned fish ponds. Opposite the lake is the Guirui Theater.
Today, the China Pavilion happens to hold the "China Pavilion Jiangxi Day" event.
Today’s second stop is the International Pavilion. The International Pavilion is also a tourist attraction. The main building of the International Pavilion, which is far away from the China Pavilion, is also very eye-catching. Its roof is composed of 94 flower umbrellas.
More exotic bonsai art and handicrafts are displayed in the exhibition hall. In the museum, you can ask the service staff in the exhibition area to stamp the passport to add a fun to the tour.

Tajikistan Pavilion
Armenia Pavilion
Coming out of the International Pavilion, the opposite is the World Horticultural Exhibition Area, where 41 outdoor exhibition gardens built by more than 80 countries and international organizations have been built, including 34 independent exhibition gardens and 7 joint exhibition gardens. In this colorful exhibition area, various horticultural cultures and human civilizations collided and merged amidst huge differences, forming a unique landscape.
There are many exhibition gardens from various countries and regions in the exhibition, and we almost all went down. The ones worth seeing are the German Garden, the Turkish Garden, the Qatar Garden, the French Garden, the British Garden, etc. Other national gardens can be seen outside.
With the theme of "Sowing the Future", the German Garden aims to demonstrate the contribution of modern horticulture and advanced technology to sustainable urban development.

The Turkish Garden is a very suitable exhibition garden for taking pictures, with a strong exotic style.

Next to the World Horticultural Exhibition Area is the Life Experience Pavilion, which is also one of the main venues of the Expo. The Life Experience Pavilion uses static display, dynamic display, visual, auditory and interactive experiences comprehensively in accordance with the exhibition concept of "Love Gardening, Love Life" In various ways, around plant diversity, coffee, tea, traditional handicrafts, etc., experience the application of horticulture in clothing, food, housing, use, entertainment, health, etc., so that tourists can experience horticulture and make life better. The life experience hall has an exhibition area of 9,400 square meters and is composed of 7 building units, including four parts: preface hall, popular science horticulture exhibition area, living horticulture exhibition area, and special horticulture exhibition area. In order to go to the theater to watch performances in a hurry, the life experience hall just went in and took a look and then came out.

The highlight of the Expo at night is the performance at the Guirui Theater. Guirui (guī ruì) Theater is the "heart" of the main venue of the "Four Pavilions and One Center" of the Beijing World Horticultural Exposition - the Performing Arts Center. dance to tune.
This is the main venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Expo, and it will undertake various large-scale theme exhibitions and other large-scale gatherings during the expo. During the Beijing Expo, the Guirui Theater will stage the resident light and shadow show "Heart of the World Garden" every Sunday to Thursday night, and the resident show "Splendid World Garden" every Friday and Saturday night, because the theater can only To accommodate more than 1,000 spectators, it is necessary to make a real-name reservation on the expo 2019 mobile app in advance, and the reservation can only be submitted after entering the park.
When I arrived at the entrance of the theater, there was already a long queue, and I showed the appointment code on my mobile phone to scan the code and enter the venue. Today is the weekend, enjoy a dazzling light and shadow show called "Heart of the World Garden" on the shore of Guirui Lake. The beautiful singing, accompanied by the softness of the water, interlaced with light and shadow, presents a beautiful visual feast.
The whole performance includes two parts, the light and shadow show and the musical fountain, and the performance lasts about 40 minutes.

After watching the performance, step out of the theater, and the lights of Guirui Theater change at night.
The last stop in the evening is the Fantasy Light and Shadow Forest, which is a high-tech attraction integrating AR, virtual vision, human-computer interaction, etc. in the Expo. With the background of the traditional Chinese culture "Shan Hai Jing", the Fantasy Light and Shadow Forest is divided into "sun There are two modes of "Illusion" and "Moon Illusion", corresponding to two different modes of day and night respectively. Tourists can download the "Sun Illusion" and "Moon Illusion" apps, and experience the myths and stories in "Shan Hai Jing" through their mobile phones. The opening hours of the Fantasy Light and Shadow Forest are from 19:00 to 20:30 at night. It was almost 9 o'clock when we came out of the theater and the staff was clearing the venue.
The expo started to clear at 9:00 p.m. and closed at 9:30. It was already past 9:00 when we came out of the Fantasy Light and Shadow Forest. It is the closest to Gate 5, but our car was parked in the P4 parking lot near Gate 1. The distance from Light and Shadow Forest to Gate No. 1 is more than 5 kilometers, and it takes at least 40 minutes to walk there. In desperation, we tried to stop a sightseeing battery car on the side of the road. The driver said that the sightseeing car would stop operating after nine o'clock. But he promised to take us back to Gate 1 for free. It was really a good-hearted person. Unfortunately, he forgot to leave the work number of this good driver when we got off the bus. In the past two days in Yanqing, I deeply realized that Yanqing has simple folk customs and clean roads, which are much better than other suburban counties in Beijing.
Back to the hotel, rest overnight.
【Day2 June 19th】
After breakfast the next day, check out and continue your trip to the Expo. Today's itinerary is mainly Baiguoyuan, Baishuyuan, Botanical Museum, Shiyuan Town, Yongning Pavilion and other attractions. Today, the car is still parked in the P4 parking lot, but the entrance is changed to gate 6 to enter the park.
The theme of Gate No. 6 is the gate of plants and the gate of life
The first stop today is Pagoda Garden. Pagoda Garden is located in the west of the Expo Park, next to Gate 6 of the park. Together with the adjacent Botanical Garden, Bamboo Garden, Baicao Garden, and Horticultural Town, it forms a horticultural exhibition area in daily life. The entire park is divided into three parts, A, B and C, which are distributed in a U shape. The park gathers 12 major tree species and 180 varieties of fruit trees in the northern region, covering almost all major deciduous fruit trees in the north.
The gate of Baiguoyuan is a welcoming corridor called "Baguomen". It is built with a high-strength bamboo-based fiber composite material called "bamboo steel" and looks like a plate of fruit slices.
The Dimethoate Gallery in Area A of Pagoda is a popular science exhibition hall for fruit tree horticulture.
In Area B of Pagoda Garden, you can see apples, pears, crabapples, hawthorns, and Panlong jujube trees with branches shaped like dragons. There are also seabuckthorn, a rare fruit tree in the north. It is now June, and various fruit trees have already produced fruit. , Wait until the autumn trees are full of fruits.

The colorful sawdust trails laid in the orchard are pavements transformed from garden waste.
To the southwest of Baiguoyuan is Baishuyuan.
Walking through the landscape of the main entrance, you will see an idyllic garden area created by some edible vegetables such as kale, colorful cauliflower, and yellow flowers.
Passing through the vegetable garden, you will arrive at the Vegetable Museum, where visitors can learn about vegetables from three perspectives: "Road of Communication", "Method of Utilization" and "Way of Innovation".
ornamental pumpkins
Such a small pumpkin seedling produces a large pumpkin
Cordyceps flowers and seafood mushrooms that need to be produced at low temperatures
Coming out of the Vegetable Garden, the next stop is the Botanical Pavilion, which is also one of the core venues of the Expo and a must-see for tourists. The overall shape of the façade of the botanical pavilion is the shape of tree roots, with 3156 pillars simulating the strong vitality of plant roots.
There is already a long queue in front of the Botanical Museum. Most of the elementary school students waited for more than half an hour for the elementary school graduation tour arranged by the school. When entering the garden in the morning, they should arrange to visit the Botanical Museum first.
Entering the botanical hall, first pass through a holographic projection hall
Passing through the holographic projection hall is the tropical plant greenhouse exhibition area, where hundreds of different types of tropical plants are displayed, such as blood seal throat, piranha, Maitreya tree, bread tree fairy human plant, and tree bouldering and other characteristic plant landscapes. The botanical hall adopts high-precision intelligent management of indoor light intensity, temperature and humidity to ensure the temperature, humidity and light requirements of different plants in different regions.
The Maitreya tree is the strangest looking tree in the botanical hall. The huge trunk is like the belly of Maitreya Buddha, hence the name "Maitreya tree". The reason why it has such a big belly image is that its thick trunk is filled with a lot of water, even if it does not rain for a year, it will not be greatly affected. Therefore, plants with extremely strong water storage capacity represented by Maitreya trees are called "camels in the plant kingdom". The baobab tree, which has the same ability as the Maitreya tree, is also an old birthday star. The climate is hot and dry in tropical and subtropical African countries. The growth environment makes the baobab tree extremely drought-tolerant. It stores water in the trunk tissue. It is about 20 meters high and has a lifespan of about 5,000 years. Whenever drought comes, it will quickly shed all the leaves on its body to reduce water consumption.
Maitreya tree and baobab tree (the two on the left are Maitreya trees, and the one on the right is a baobab tree)
A Miraculous Insect-Catching Plant--Nepenthes
The giraffe "Molly and her family" on the roof viewing platform of the Botanical Pavilion is a must-see internet celebrity attraction at the Afterlife Garden. The giraffe is made of the dead wood of Vitex vitex, the national tree of the Philippines, combined with stainless steel materials. The dead wood used to make the giraffe has been dead for 50 years, and it is still invulnerable to insects and immortal for years. Because the building materials and furniture made of this kind of wood are durable and not afraid of ants and insects, it was once felled extensively, and it was almost extinct in the 1920s. Now this tree species is being rescued and protected.
Looking at Yongning Pavilion from the viewing platform
After coming out of the botanical hall, there is a gardening town ahead. This romantic town consists of two parts, one is the antique Longqing Street, and the other is the colorful sea of flowers and fields.
The planning and construction of the gardening town made full use of the original natural conditions. The two old pagoda trees with a history of more than one hundred years on Longqing Street were originally from the local Gu family, so as to preserve and show the original style of the local ancient village. . The street in the entire horticultural town is called Longqing Street. Yanqing used to be called Longqing in history, so in order to reflect that the World Expo was held in Yanqing and to inherit the history, this street was called Longqing Street.
Gardening Town also considers the blending of Chinese cultures from north to south. For example, this gray and white Huizhou old house diagonally opposite Laoshe Teahouse is a typical Jiangnan residential style in my country.
Horticultural Town is also a place where catering is relatively concentrated in the Expo, and it gathers a lot of catering with local characteristics.
On the west side of Longqing Street, you can see patches of flower fields full of vitality and colorful colors.
Around the theme of horticulture, the flower field area is divided into seven exhibition areas and multiple sub-areas, including flower variety display area, rainbow flower sea area, rock garden, vegetable garden, etc. What is displayed now is a sea of tulip flowers, two rainbow flower seas composed of pansies, sage, and petunias, and a sea of osmanthus and bamboo flowers.
On the east side of the gardening town is Yongning Pavilion, which is built on the top of Tiantian Mountain in the center of the park. It is a traditional building in the Liao and Jin styles, and is the commanding height and landmark building of the entire park.
The Beijing World Horticultural Exhibition adopts the method of digging lakes and piling up mountains to build gardens, expand the original abandoned fish ponds, and create a lake landscape. The lake is named Guirui, with an area of about 100 mu. The earthwork produced by excavating the lake was piled up nearby to form Tiantian Mountain. Yongning Pavilion is located in the center of the high platform, with a height of about 27 meters and a construction area of 2025 square meters. The roof has double eaves and cross ridges, and the "Yongning Pavilion" bucket plaque is placed between the upper and lower eaves on the south side. The four sides of the pavilion and the four sides of the courtyard symbolize the peace of the world and the peace of the country and the people.
Surrounded by verandahs, corridors and corner pavilions. There are sitting sills all over the porch and pillars of the verandah pavilion, where visitors can take a rest and overlook the China Pavilion and Guirui Theater on the opposite side.
It was close to noon when we came down from Yongning Pavilion. The sun exposure made us lose the motivation to continue shopping. The rest of the Chinese Horticultural Exhibition Area was finally gone. Shunyuan Road returned to Gate 6 and drove back to Yanqing Street. I found a Northeast restaurant for lunch and headed home, ending my two-day trip to the Beijing Expo.
【postscript】
During this trip to the World Horticultural Exposition, I basically transferred all the main attractions in the garden, except for the Chinese Horticultural Exhibition Area. Although I went to the Light and Shadow Forest and the Life Experience Hall, I did not experience it in depth. On the whole, in order of viewing: China Pavilion > Botanical Pavilion > World Horticultural Exhibition Area > Guirui Theater > Light and Shadow Forest > International Pavilion > Hundred Vegetable Garden > Hundred Fruit Garden.
