The "2020 Liv Iron Girl Taitung International Women's Triathlon" was grandly held today (12) in Taitung Forest Park. The guns were fired at 6:00 am on time, and the 51.5-kilometer long-distance race was launched by the beautiful living water lake. This year marks the fifth year. We came to Taitung City last night, and happened to catch up with this grand event, because it is not far from the Midou Cultural Hotel where we live, so we walked to Taitung Forest Park. There is traffic control around Taitung Forest Park because of the triathlon competition.
It is a pity that the first international triathlon in Asia, IRONMAN 70.3 Taiwan, will start tomorrow (13th), with a 113-kilometer half-distance super triathlon in Taitung. This is the highlight, but today we are leaving Taitung City and taking the coastal highway back to Hualien.
"Living Water Lake": a vast artificial lake with no waves like a mirror, where the national triathlon and dragon boat competitions are held
Living Water Lake is located in Taitung Forest Park. It is an artificial lake, so it is also called artificial lake. The lake area is quite vast, and it is the venue for various large-scale sports events such as dragon boat races and triathlons held in Taitung every year.
Living Water Lake is an important place to provide leisure activities for Taitung citizens. Standing by the lake, watching the blue sky and white clouds reflected on the mirror-free lake, or overlooking the layers of mountains, you can spend a good time. There is also a parent-child play area planned next to the living water lake, which will be open at a fixed time every summer, providing children of all ages with access to the water to cool off. Walking by the living water lake, chatting with local citizens, he said that he comes to the living water lake for morning swimming every day, because there is a competition today, so there is a control to not enter the water.
Go through the "Flower Tunnel" to Taitung Forest Park
Taitung Forest Park is divided into northwest and southeast areas by Taiwan Highway 11, and is connected by a flower trellis tunnel. It is quite a sight-seeing landscape facility. The so-called "tunnel" is actually a culvert that crosses the Beinan River "Zhonghua Bridge". After being beautified with flower trellises, it is much more pleasing to the eye.
We turned from the living water lake to the forest bathing trail, and walked through the flower rack tunnel to Taitung Forest Park. The name of the flower trellis tunnel is actually the flower trellis + tunnel, the tunnel is dark inside, but walking out of the tunnel is the joy of another spring.

After leaving Taitung Forest Park, we walked back to Midou Hotel for breakfast. Along the way, I began to notice that fighter planes would fly across the sky every once in a while, and the sound was a bit noisy, which was also an annoyance that troubled the citizens of Taitung. But of course I have to sacrifice my small self for the sake of my big self!

The abandoned area that was originally a landfill in the early days, after the land preparation planning of the Taitung City Government, created this Taitung Seaside Park, which combines international landmarks, and also set up art installations for travelers who come to take pictures.

Taitung Seaside Park can not only enjoy the beautiful sea view, but also the most famous international landmark "Sunshine Tree". The international landmark work "Tree of Life" originally located in the seaside park was damaged by the Nebert storm in 2016 , recreated by the artist Mr. You Wenfu, "Sunshine Tree", reopened in 2018.
The meaning of the two ends of the aisle extension of this international landmark "Sunshine Tree" is like embracing the earth and the people with open arms, with the image of long and deep tree roots. The roof is made of wavy wood weaving structure, which symbolizes the continuous waves and mountains. Originally, I didn't know the origin of this house. When I went to visit Taitung Seaside Park, I was walking by the side of the road and found a bunch of people taking pictures here. I was just curious. Later, I inadvertently saw a photo on the introduction page of Taitung's attractions, which seemed to be the white assembled house I saw next to the seaside park, and I suddenly realized that it was so red, it was the Taiwanese version of Hall moving castle.
This legendary "Small White House by the Sea" was built by Mr. Li, a retired veteran, by picking up waste materials and building it brick by brick. It was originally just a simple little white house, but when the adjacent feed factory land was sold to the group and demolished and razed to the ground, this old house that existed for more than 50 years suddenly appeared in the eyes of the world. Suddenly became an alternative popular tourist attraction.
When the consortium bought the land of the feed factory, they also offered 5 million yuan to buy the old man's prefabricated house, but the old man rejected it. The old man said that the house was built for the children to live in, and even left a bridal room for the son. But his son did not live here after he got married, and stayed in Kaohsiung to work hard.
What is so special about this house? It turned out that the old man used his own strength to find building materials, masonry, and recycled resources. Without laying a foundation or using steel bars, he actually built a white house with four floors on the outside and six floors on the inside. Frequent Taitung can stand unshakable for more than 50 years. This is great!
The old man simply used his own construction methods and techniques. Since 1966, he has been building houses while serving as a soldier. After that, he has continued to build and repair houses. From the original log cabins to brick houses, he built them layer by layer. Build his ideal home.
In 2016, Typhoon Neparta swept across Taitung, and the second floor of the small white house was also damaged by the wind. The old man passed away before all the repairs were completed. At present, the little white house is still isolated on the street, but I don't know if the old man's son will sell it to the consortium?
Today we are going to return to Hualien by taking the Huadong Coastal Highway (Haixian). There are two routes from Hualien to Taitung. One is the mountain route, which is the Huadong Rift Valley Highway, which runs between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range. One is the sea line, which is the Huadong Coast Highway, which runs along the Pacific Ocean. Each has its own beautiful scenery. In order to go to the Liushishi Mountain in Fuli to see daylilies, we first took the Huadong Rift Valley Highway. In this way, we can enjoy different scenery along different routes at the same time. The arrangement of scenic spots can also be diversified. There are too many tourist attractions on the route from Hualien to Taitung. If you want to visit every place, I think it will take 10 days and a half months at least.
The coastal rest area between the critical mountain and the sea ~ Jialulan
Jialulan was originally the waste soil storage area when the Air Force built the Zhihang Base Airport. After several times of planning and sorting by the East Management Office, it became the current "Jialulan Recreation Area".
Jialulan is an important display area of the East Coast Art Festival-Installation Art.
Jialulan has a large expanse of lawns, rest pavilions, interpretation stations, and observation decks. The beautiful coastal landscape and unique installation art here have become popular photo spots.
Jialulan Recreation Area is adjacent to Xiaoyeliu Scenic Area, so it continues the beautiful weathered and sea-eroded landscape, with odd-shaped reefs dotted around, and rich rock landscapes.
Whose fault is it that the Meiliwan Resort in Taitung, which has been under construction for 14 years, cannot be operated?
This controversial resort has been built for 14 years, but it has not been able to operate. The local people are in favor, but they are stuck with environmental groups with positions. Environmentalists hope to restore the natural coast and demolish the buildings in Beautiful Bay. Representatives of local residents look forward to leaving Beautiful Bay as a base for local promotion of environmental protection and marine education. But no consensus could be reached.
Isn't it a pity that such a beautiful resort has been demolished? It should be to come up with other supporting facilities, manage them effectively, and try to avoid harming the ecology of the ocean. The solution is what people think. Those environmental protection groups should not just oppose it just for the sake of opposing it!

With the encouragement of their friends, David and Lori began to make healthy and natural handmade bread and sauces, so "Marino Kitchen" was born. They are full of gratitude and only hope that everyone can be healthy and happy! "
I didn’t expect such a simple bread to have such a sentimental and true love story behind it. When I finished reading the short story between their husband and wife, I felt an inexplicable feeling in my heart, and I was very moved when I bit the bread. In that instant, my heart also melted.
Most of the customers come here with a pilgrimage to buy freshly baked bread. The smell of bread is emitted from time to time in the store. Even if they think it is expensive, they will feel regretful if they don’t buy it. .
When I traveled back to Taipei, I took the remaining bread to the air fryer and toasted it to warm it up. I think the baked bread still has a good texture and is quite delicious.

Taitung's super famous Donghe steamed stuffed bun always has a long queue, and this is also a must-eat place on the Taitung Sea Line.
In fact, there are a lot of well-known steamed stuffed bun shops in Taiwan. It’s up to everyone to decide whether they’re delicious or not, but Donghe steamed stuffed buns are something I recommend. At least I think their skin is a bit chewy, which suits my taste quite well.
They have seats, so after queuing up to buy buns, you can find a seat to sit down and eat, and you can also go to the bathroom by the way. This is considered a rest stop in the middle.

Sanxiantai, northeast of Chenggong Town, Taitung County, is the most popular scenic spot on the east coast. The most beautiful cross-sea eight-arch bridge in Sanxiantai is presented in a wave shape, like a giant dragon lying on the sea, crossing to the offshore coral reef island.
Sanxiantai has a special sea erosion topography, rich geological landscape, magnificent sea erosion and strange rocks, which can best set off the radiant sunrise of Sanxiantai. It is also an excellent sunrise viewing and shooting spot on the east coast.
We walked directly from the trail next to the visitor center through the food area to the beach, where there is really an invincible sea view. The entire coastline is invincible and spectacular. The seascape, strange stones and clouds set off the eight arch bridges, and it is a beautiful scene to take a photo.
The reason why it is named Sanxiantai: It used to be a headland, which has been eroded by sea water for many years and became an offshore island. It is rumored that Lu Dongbin, Li Tieguai and He Xiangu once landed on this small offshore island, so it is called Sanxiantai.
Because of time constraints, we were a little tired, and there were too many tourists, so we only rested at the beach to see the sea view, took pictures of the Eight Arch Bridge, and did not board the Eight Arch Bridge to the outlying island where Sanxian once boarded. Sitting on the beach blowing the sea breeze and listening to the sound of the waves is also a kind of enjoyment.
Leaving Sanxiantai, continue along the coast road, the sea view along the way is very beautiful.
The beautiful "King Kong Avenue" surrounded by mountains and sea is known as the Brown Avenue on the east coast
This King Kong Avenue in Changbin Township, Taitung is also known as "Brown Avenue on the East Coast".
King Kong Avenue is located on East 13 Township Road about 85 kilometers away from Taiwan Highway 11, and is part of the Zhongyong Bicycle Path. There is a straight section of the avenue with no telephone poles on either side. The Pacific Ocean can be seen in front of it, while Mount Kumgang in the Huadong Rift Valley is behind.
Because it is located at the foot of Mount Kumgang, it is called "King Kong Road".

Among them, there are three Tropic of Cancer monuments in Taiwan, respectively in Chiayi Shuishang Township, Hualien Wuhetai, and Fengbin Township. This one is in the shape of a white lighthouse The Tropic of Cancer monument is located at 70.5 kilometers away from Taiwan Highway 11. Visitors can come here to feel the wonderful feeling of standing on one foot in the tropics and the other in the subtropics.
Changhong Bridge~ like a Changhong on the green waves
On the way, we passed a red arch bridge, which is Changhong Bridge. Completed in 1969, the Changhong Bridge is 120 meters long and is the first cantilevered single-arch prestressed concrete bridge in Taiwan. Seen from a distance, it looks like a long rainbow crossing the green waves on the mountain wall, so it gets its name.
Changhong Bridge is located on the Coastal Highway of Taitung Route 11, across the Xiuguluan River. It is the main road in the east. It is geographically connected to the two settlements of Jingpu and Ganggang. Generally, people who drive to and from Hualien and Taitung will pass by. Shitiping in Fengbin, Hualien ~ Hualien's special terrain, another level of beauty
Shitiping (Ami language: Tidaan) is located in Ganggang Village, Fengbin Township, Hualien County. Because the rocks on the land protrude into the sea, forming large and small bays, they are shaped like stairs, and the rows are of different lengths, so it is called "Shitiping".
Under the erosion of sea wind and sea water, Shitiping Scenic Area has created world-class sea-eroded potholes, sea-eroded platforms, sea-eroded ditches, and a rare pure white single-sided mountain in Taiwan. The peculiar geological landscape is amazing, and it has the "world-class outdoor geological classroom" good name.
In fact, what amazes me the most is this snow-white "Shitiping Single-sided Mountain".
Entering Shitiping, on the southeast corner of the coast, you can observe a hillside that is pale white to white in color. The slope slopes gently inland on the side close to the land, while the slope on the sea side plunges steeply into the sea, forming slopes with different inclination angles on both sides. This terrain is called "one-sided mountain".
We had so much fun on this snow-white single-sided mountain. We climbed to the highest point of the 17-meter-high single-sided mountain. The view is very good, and the magnificent and vast view of the Pacific Ocean can also be seen.
There are several homestays in Shitiping Scenic Area. When you come to Shitiping next time, you can consider "Slow Shitiping Homestay". If you live here, you can climb up the single-faced mountain to watch the sunrise in the morning, and you can walk in the moonlight at night, or Listening to the waves and watching the stars must feel great.
