Fourth day itinerary planning ~ September 13
20200913 The fourth day of Huadong Tour (Fengbin Township Yashang Homestay + Xinshe Terraced Fields + Qinzhizi Skywalk + Baqi Observatory + Haiyagu Wangmei Coffee + Weilan Coast Seaview B&B + Dongdaemun Night Market)
Saying goodbye to the Yashang B&B, we headed for Hualien City. Under the blue sky, white clouds and clear sky, we walked along the Huadong Coast Highway on Taiwan Line 11, and the next stop we came to Xinshe Rice Terraces.
Xinshe Terraced Fields: Taiwan's largest seaside terraced fields & romantic sea view swing
Located in Fengbin Township, Hualien, Xinshe Rice Terraces is a free-entry attraction on Taiwan 11. There are beautiful sea views, characteristic swings, and scarecrow installation art created by local aboriginal artists in Hualien. These installations fully express the aborigines' feelings of taking root here and living in harmony with nature.
When you come to Xinshe Terraced Fields, you must take pictures of this unique swing.
The theme of this swing is "Happiness on the Land". The main body is to use fields, straw, and rice grains to shape the shape of marine octopuses and plant sprouts, symbolizing the rich resources that the ocean and land give us, and the swing echoes The comfort given by this natural scenery, enjoy the simple attitude that you will be happy as long as you stay in this land. (deep meaning)
These installations are all from driftwood, which has a new life after being transformed. The fantasy and fairy-tale shape shows new vitality in the blue sky, green land and sea, and becomes the favorite spot for tourists.
Xinshe Terraced Fields is the largest seaside terraced field area in Taiwan.
When we went to Xinshe terraced fields this season (mid-September), the rice fields had already been harvested, so it looked like a large area of yellow and bald fields, and they were still enclosed and could not be approached. So if you want to take pictures of the greenest terraced fields, you have to come here to take pictures before the harvest at the end of June.
Xinshe Terraced Fields is a very small scenic spot. It takes about ten minutes to take pictures of swings, rice fields, and scarecrows. It can only be used as a small rest stop during the journey. It might feel a bit empty if you come here specially.
Although it’s mid-September, the sun in Hualien is still extremely violent, and the terraced fields in Xinshe don’t have any shade. After staying outdoors for just ten minutes, I was dizzy from the sun. I was almost dizzy from the heat, so I took a quick photo After seeing some photos, I quickly hid in the car to cool off. Anyway, it is enough to capture the key photos.
Fengbin Township Xinji [Qinbuzi Sky Trail] The first glass landscape trail built on the cliff in Taiwan, the most beautiful view of the sea
"Qinbuzi Skywalk" (also known as Qinbuzi Ancient Sea Trail) is located next to the Xinfeng Tunnel of Taiwan Highway 11. There is a resounding but somewhat lonely name here, "Qinbuzi Cliff".
Qinbuzi Cliff is named after the legend of the local aborigines. In the early days, it was actually an ancient road chiseled out by the local Amis. Before the opening of the Taiwan Highway 11 in 1968, the local Amis walked along the coast from Isozaki, Fengbin Township, to Xinshe. It is beyond this "Cliff Cliff".
According to legend, in the past, there was an aboriginal woman who walked across the cliff with her child on her back. Because there was a short section of the road, it was a wooden bridge built along the cliff, and only tree vines were attached to the wall as ropes to support it. Danger. Because the woman was too nervous when walking, when she climbed the cliff and passed the ancient road, she was surprised that the child had disappeared. The tribesmen called it "the cliff of the relative who does not know the child", which means the danger of the cliff. Women on this road have to take care of themselves and cannot take care of each other, hence the name.
This ancient aboriginal road crossing the cliff was abandoned and unused around 1971. After the efforts of the Fengbin Township Office, it took 3 years and cost NT$18 million to rebuild the No. 1 Hualien Road with H steel and tempered glass. The sky trail on the cliff has a carrying capacity of 230 people, but on-site control can only allow 100 people to enter the trail at a time. Started trial operation on July 1, 2017. Before the trial operation, 14 leaders from the east coast were invited to try it out first, and worshiped the ancestors and prayed for safety.
The Qinbuzi Skywalk is divided into two sections. One section is the original ancient trail reinforced and widened by cement, and the other section is vertically suspended cliff, which is built with steel frame and three layers of glued reinforced glass (each combined glass can carry 250 kg); The length is about 150 meters (concrete pavement + glass walkway + wooden stairway), and the vertical altitude is about 40 meters. Among them, 20 meters of the road section is made of reinforced transparent glass plank road, allowing the public to have a clear view of the old ancient road scenery and the invincible sea view.
Walking on this ancient sea trail is like walking on the Pacific Ocean. It is a real "sky trail".
There is a sea cave under the Qinzhizi Skywalk, which also has a story. During the Dutch rule of Taiwan, ships were sent to observe the east coast to see if there was any development value. One day the Dutch ships encountered a typhoon at sea, and the ships drifted here with the sea waves, and then they landed here, and hid in this sea cave to take refuge and rest. The local residents thought the Dutch were pirates when they found out, and they wanted to drive them away. After talking with them, they realized that they were the Dutch fleet, so they helped them repair the ship, provided them with food, and helped them return to the voyage, so it is also called "Pirate Cave".

East Coast Station Line 11 Invincible Sea View Basaki Observatory
The Baqi Rest Area is located at 31.5 kilometers away from Taiwan Highway 11 in Fengbin Township, Hualien. Isozaki Bay, Guihou Cape and Xinshe Sea Cliff present a unique coastal terrain with successive layers. We can also clearly see the top of Dashibi Mountain on the south side of Isozaki Bay. This kind of invincible sea view is an unmissable scenic spot when taking Haixiantai Line 11, and it is also an excellent sea-viewing spot.
From the Basaki Observatory, you can see the mountains in the distant bay, do they look like turtles? That is Guihou Cape.
In addition to the observation deck, Basaki also has a rest area, a parking lot, a sales department, and a restroom. We sat on wooden tables and chairs, drinking drinks and playing mobile phones. Under the shade of the trees, gusts of sea breeze blew, and suddenly felt a little sleepy.
What amazes me here is that there is a flower stand in the rest area from the parking lot, which is covered with blooming wisteria flowers, which has become my favorite here.

【Must-shoot scenes in Sea Cliff Valley】
The location of Haiya Valley is on the roadside of Taiwan Highway 11. It is adjacent to Ocean Park on the south side and Shandu Space on the north side. It looks at the Pacific Ocean in front and the coastal mountains in the back. It is not far from downtown Hualien. It has an excellent location and sea view. Since its opening at the end of December 2019, it has attracted so many tourists to go on pilgrimage that the park had to formulate new admission control measures as follows: Sea Cliff Valley visitors:
1. The admission time is changed to 10:00-17:00
2. In order to maintain the best viewing space, no parking spaces are provided in the park! Please park in a safe place on both sides of the Taiwan Highway 11!
An admission fee of $100 per person is required to enter the park (the full amount can be used for consumption in the park)
The Haiya Valley Park is built on a layer-by-layer terrain along the mountains. After entering the park, there is a luxury tent camping area on the right hand side. The outdoor dining area and photo area are roughly divided into three floors: the lazybones lounge chair area, the platform seating area and the bottom floor There is a turf area, and there are steps between the three floors.
There is also an indoor seating area at the counter where you order food. If the weather is too hot or too cold, you can choose indoor or sea view.
Sea Cliff Valley put a lot of thought into the design, and set up a lot of installation art suitable for taking pictures, so many places in the whole are very suitable for taking pictures with online beauty. The whole sea cliff valley is super easy to shoot, it is beautiful from any angle, and with the Pacific Ocean as the background, the photos taken are very beautiful and dreamy. Haiya Valley is such a very beautiful and well-photographed leisure park, not just a coffee shop by the sea in Hualien.
This place is more beautiful than imagined. Originally, I thought it was just a few photo installations, but I went to the scene to experience it for myself, and found that every angle has different beauty, and every turn has a different artistic conception.
There are also lawn areas, sand play pools, moon swings, and seesaws on the mountainside. Children will not feel bored here

Tonight we will stay at Weilan Coastal Seaview B&B in Hualien City
Hualien is surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers, with a long and magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. The coastal B&Bs have an excellent view, allowing travelers to see the magnificent sea view from the room.
TIFFANY's blue sea view B&B is full of girls' hearts
Tonight we are staying in Hualien City, a hotel with a very high CP value, originally called Tifen Coast Seaview B&B, which has been renamed Weilan Coast Seaview B&B in 2020. It is located in the first row of landscape on Haibin Street in Hualien City, across an embankment is the vast Pacific Ocean. The transportation here is convenient, 3 minutes to the Dongdamen Night Market, opposite to the most beautiful bicycle trail in Hualien, providing free access to the exclusive Wangmei Restaurant 24 hours a day, with free instant noodles and drinks. There are also free bicycles available. Although it is a B&B, it is a B&B with an elevator, and there is no fear of being unable to lift heavy luggage. The best thing is that it is facing the sea, I can see the beautiful sea view by the window, and I can see the lighthouse of Hualien Port. Living in the city center can see the sea, really happy!
The appearance of the whole building is in TIFFANY blue, which is smart and dreamy. The living room and dining room on the first floor are all made of transparent glass. The interior design is the dream factor of Wangmei restaurant. Crystal lamps and dried flowers are hung on the mesh ceiling. There are glowing Tiffany Coast pink neon lights on the wall, like The pink and aqua-blue chairs of macarons are full of the dream world of beautiful girls.
On the right hand side facing the counter, there is a small and warm lobby with comfortable sofas and pure white translucent windows, giving it a full sense of vacation. Arranging some small dolls is also a good prop for taking pictures. Sitting on the window sill can also see the seaside, a good seat to relax and daze.
I booked a three-person sea view room this time, with a big bed and a small bed, because other room types are fully booked, I was lucky to suddenly see that there is a triple room available for booking, and I immediately went online booking succeed.
This three-person sea view room can really see the sea. Although it is separated by a road, it still has a sense of presence. The room is quite spacious, and the layout is simple with some sense of creativity.
Dongdamen City Night Market Hualien Food Collection
Friends who come to Hualien for tourism must not miss to come to Dongdamen Night Market to taste Hualien's local food.
Hualien Dongdamen Night Market consists of four parts: Fucho Night Market, a street in mainland provinces, a street of aboriginal people and a street of Ziqiang Night Market.
