Gaduo Juewo Sacred Mountain is known as the Four Great Sacred Mountains of Tibetan Buddhism together with Gang Rinpoche in Tibet, Meili Snow Mountain in Yunnan, and Animaqing Mountain in Qinghai. It is located in Gaduo Township, Chengduo County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It is composed of a series of peaks in various poses and with different expressions. The main peak is 5470 meters above sea level. Gaduojuewo's Tibetan meaning is "White Sage", and it is said that it is a wise and brave general. The peaks surrounding the main peak are the general's 7 generals, 7 genius doctors, 7 swordsmiths, and 7 swordsmiths. The tailor, as well as his grandmother and children, have similar situations in other sacred mountains in Tibetan areas.
Gaduojuewo was the "Lord God of Shangkang District" in ancient times, one of the sacred mountains enshrined by Tubo Zanpu Chisong Detsen, the king of many sacred mountains in the Yangtze River Basin, and the god of the Tibetan hero King Gesar.
We went from Qumalai County to Yushu on October 19, 2021, and visited Gaduojuewo Back Mountain on the way; on October 22, we set off from Yushu again and visited Gaduojueqian Mountain.
On the way from Qumalai to Yushu, I saw a mountain among the mountains in front of me. The shape of the mountain was very strange. There is a small road near the township to reach Gaduojuewo Houshan.
After walking for more than ten kilometers along the path, I saw a sign of Shenshan and a viewing platform on the hillside under construction.
After walking along a more crude path for about 2 kilometers, we came to the foot of Gaduojuewohou Mountain and looked up at this magnificent holy mountain.
After resting in Yushu for two days, we went to Gaduo Township to pay homage to Gaduo Juewo again, and passed through Zhenqin Township, Zhaduo Township, Gaduo Township, Anchong Township, and Longbao Township, and turned around counterclockwise before returning to Yushu On the way, we visited the Tongtian River, Dajie Temple and other scenic spots.
Gaduo Township is a township under the jurisdiction of Chengduo County, Yushu Prefecture. It is located on the southeast side of Gaduo Juewo Mountain. Because it is located deep in the mountain, it is relatively remote.
In Gaduo Township, we found two places where we can see Gaduo Juewo Mountain. One is the tourist center of Kema Village. It is on the mountain next to Gaduo Township.
The other is Gajuewu Cultural Tourism Resort, which is located 3 kilometers northwest of Gaduo Township. A wide ravine extends to the foot of the sacred mountain. This is the best place to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Gaduojuewo.
When we left Gaduo Township, we continued to walk forward. After crossing a section of high mountains, we did not expect to come to the Tongtian River in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It was an unexpected harvest.
Tongtian River is a section between the source section of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Jinsha River. I thought it was far away from us, but I didn’t expect to come to it today. The water flow of Tongtian River is not as fast as I imagined. Although there are continuous mountains on both sides , but there is no imaginary white snow.
On the way, we passed Dajie Temple in Anchong Township, a very quiet temple.
After accompanying the Tongtian River for more than 20 kilometers, the road turns into a small stream and goes upstream along the stream. After passing through some villages in Anchong Township and Jielong Township and the first tunnel at the source of the Yangtze River, we return to Yushu.
