2021 Beijing Self-Driving Xinjiang: Desert Highway
There are four desert roads (below, schematic diagram).
We took the (yellow) desert highway from Minfeng to Luntai, which is also the first desert highway (Tarim Desert Highway). The intersection of the red and yellow lines is Tazhong (the only place to refuel along the way!).
We will go from Kashgar to Hotan on September 19, 2021, and from Hotan to Minfeng on September 20.
On September 21, depart from the hotel where Minfeng stayed at 9:10 a.m.
First go to the gas station to replenish fuel, and then enter the desert road.
At first, there was a long stretch of road that seemed to have nothing to do with desert roads. The water and grass on the roadside are fertile, and cattle and sheep are everywhere, just like the south of the Yangtze River.
Then there is the road that was washed out by the flood some time ago. There are several sections, each section is about 2 kilometers.
Slowly, the desert appeared.
I was very excited when I saw such a large desert.
This is the basic situation of this road, desert, highway, shelterbelt.

When I was excited, I played with the sand and rolled the dunes!
This resulted in many days of cleaning up the sand (sand is too fine and penetrates everywhere!)
14:05 arrived in the tower.
There are food, drinks, and gas stations here, where you can refuel.
Leave the tower and continue the desert road trip.
This is Populus euphratica in the desert.
18:45 left the desert road.
19:00 arrive at the hotel in Luntai.
The desert road is relatively simple and monotonous, and requires a relaxed state of mind.
On the section of the road that just entered the desert, the road surface is wavy, which is not easy to detect with the naked eye, which may be caused by the soft roadbed. The feeling is that when the speed is fast, there is a feeling of flying, so the speed must not be fast!
