The Sichuan-Tibet Highway from Chengdu, Sichuan to Lhasa, Tibet, is praised by countless travelers as "the most beautiful highway in China". Driving on this Sichuan-Tibet line will pass through many counties, and it is one of them!
This is the third county I passed through by self-driving on this trip to Tibet. The altitude of the urban area is 2,700 meters. Even though this altitude is not high on the Sichuan-Tibet line, it is very special. This kind of special can be understood at first glance. . If you pass through the Yajiang Tunnel and go to the next stop, Litang, you will miss the excitement here!
When I came to Yajiang, the sun was still very bright. The reason why I stopped early was because I wanted to feel the style of this county, oh, and of course because the next county, Litang, is still a little far away, and the altitude is too high.
Alright, let’s not keep it a secret, the county I’m going to talk about today is Yajiang! Yajiang, the Tibetan name "Yaquka", means "river mouth". A settlement on the banks of the Yalong River is a must pass on the Sichuan-Tibet line, and it is also the first crossing of the Ancient Tea-Horse Road.
When I first entered Yajiang, my feeling was: wow, it's so compact and small! There is no exaggeration in this. It is said that there is only one two-way lane in the entire county. Judging from our driving experience, there is basically no chance of turning around, because they are basically one-way streets! After passing by, we must continue to circle around.
Yajiang, this small county, is different from other places. It is an urban area that grows on top of cliffs. When walking, in addition to climbing or descending, there is not much flat ground. The hotel I live in is on Chuanzang Road in the urban area. The buildings are very dense. Because the space is small and the available space is limited, the buildings are close to each other. Each building is built as high as possible. development.
Before having dinner, I deliberately walked around the city. As soon as I put down my luggage, I excitedly started climbing. Go to the liveliest place in the city. Although the road is not wide, it is clean enough and there are special sidewalks.
On the road, I met a Tibetan grandma. She was wearing a beautiful Tibetan costume and was sitting in the aisle of a house by the road. She kept smiling at me as she watched me pass by. Seeing such a smile warmed my heart. I was taking pictures at the time, so I asked her if I could take a picture. I thought she would not agree, but she was not only very happy, but also called the nearby children. So there was this moment that I like very much.
I like the evening in Yajiang very much, it is very comfortable and very humane. This square is full of casual locals. They chat casually while holding beads on their mobile phones. The traditional national costumes on their bodies are the most attractive elements to me. Today, when the living conditions are getting better and the fashion trend is getting faster and faster, the local Tibetan friends still love their culture so much and still wear traditional national costumes, which amazes me very much.
Yajiang City has a strong Tibetan style, and some profound Kham culture. You only need to walk around on the pedestrian street to feel the unique style. Regarding the cultural wall of Khamba men, the vivid yak sculptures and so on always make me stop. The atmosphere here is really rare, even in Tibetan areas.
Yajiang is a place worth tasting, and it doesn't take us a lot of time, because we can read its uniqueness at the first glance! The urban area is "small and exquisite, and the folk customs are simple and honest, which is my impression of Yajiang. When you come, you will understand!
