Laangcuo, known as Ghost Lake, means "poisonous black lake" in Tibetan. It is located in Pulan County, Ngari Prefecture, with an altitude of 4,573 meters and an area of 268 square kilometers. It is surrounded by natural pastures and is an inland saltwater lake.

The name Ghost Lake is creepy. However, when you get to the lake, you will find that this is a very fascinating scenery. Compared with other plateau lakes, it is not inferior, and the lake is also intoxicatingly blue. So, why is it dubbed the notoriety of the ghost lake?

It turns out that Laangcuo is adjacent to the holy lake Mapang Yumcuo. The two lakes were originally connected together. Due to climate change, the water level has dropped and the lake has shrunk, becoming the two lakes now, with only a narrow hill in between. Local Tibetans believe that the bottoms of the two lakes are connected. The difference is that the holy lake is a freshwater lake, while the ghost lake is a saltwater lake. There are no plants around Laang Co, no cattle and sheep, and it seems to lack vitality. This may be the reason why it is called Ghost Lake.

Laangcuo is juxtaposed with Mapang Yumcuo from east to west, covering an area of 269 square kilometers, and the lake is 4573 meters above sea level, slightly lower than Manasarovar Yumcuo. Due to the climate change over the years, the water of Laangcuo Lake can no longer flow out, and it has been closed into an inland lake. Looking at Mount Kailash from Laangcuo in the north, its east, west and south sides are affected by the dark rocks of the surrounding mountains. The color of the lake is darker than that of Manasarovar, and the color is weird. Therefore, people call it "ghost lake". On the shore of the lake in the lake area, due to the recent drop in water level, there are many waves of embankments, which surround the lake body layer by layer, showing the dynamic changes of the plateau's modern climate.

In Tibetan Buddhism, the ghost lake is also regarded as a holy lake. It is said that Sakyamuni saved all living beings and used rice to relieve poor believers. The current lake water is formed by the accumulation of rice washing water. Therefore, Buddhists often come here to worship. , It has gradually become a famous Buddhist holy place. Compared with Mapang Yumco, Laang Co has always been neglected, mainly because of the rumors imposed on it: it is the main gathering place of Rakshasa kings, and the abducted beauty Sida in the ancient Indian "The Story of Ramayana" The Nine-Headed Rakshasa King lived here. It is even said that encountering an unlucky sign by the lake. Another reason is that there are no hot springs around the lake to bathe in. In winter, the climate around the lake is cold and the scenery is desolate. In terms of area alone, it is smaller than Manasarovar, only 70 square kilometers.

It is said that the ghost lake Laangcuo has three feet of waves without wind. In fact, the scenery here is very beautiful, the dark red island by the lake is blurred in color.
