Primitive Tropical Rainforest Wangtianshu Scenic Area

January 21, 2015

According to the optimized schedule, today is the original tropical rainforest Wangtianshu Scenic Area.

Wangtianshu Scenic Area of Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest National Park is located in the Buwa National Nature Reserve in the northeast of Mengla County, covering an area of 20 hectares. It is 14 kilometers away from Mengla County and 134 kilometers away from Jinghong City.

There are many tropical rainforests in Yunnan, and Wangtianshu Scenic Area is the only primitive tropical rainforest recognized by the world. It used to be used for researchers to study the tropical rainforest, but now it is open to the public.

Depart at 8:30 in the morning and arrive at Bubeng Wharf in Wangtianshu Scenic Area at 11:15 in the morning (you can also go directly to the gate of the scenic spot). We chose to enter from the waterway and enjoy the scenery of Nanla River by the way.

The Nanla River is the last first-class tributary of the Lancang River before it goes abroad. It is the largest river in Mengla County and the largest river in Mengla County. It originates in the northeast of Mengban Town, Mengla County and flows through Yao District from north to south. Township, Mengban Township, Mengla Township, and Shangyong Township turn west in Mengban Township, flow through Mangoshu Township, and flow into the Lancang River at the junction of China, Laos, and Myanmar. The total length is 186 kilometers; the drainage area is 4,563 square kilometers, and the average annual flow is 2.227 billion cubic meters.

According to legend, the Buddha Sakyamuni traveled here, so he stopped to give a lecture. The Dai people saw that the Buddha lectured very hard, so they offered tea one after another. The Buddha sprinkled the remaining tea on the spot, and in an instant, there was a river of tea on the edge of the forest ("Nanla" in Dai language means "river of tea"), which is what we see now. river.

This river is still the same clear water and beautiful scenery through the ages. The Nanla River sightseeing is only a section, and you will go ashore when you arrive at the rainforest pier.

Going up from the rainforest pier is the entrance of Wangtianshu Scenic Area.

Entering the park, we first walk along the tropical flower avenue to enjoy tropical plants.

At the end of the flower avenue is the entrance of the canopy corridor. In Wangtianshu Scenic Area, there are many towering trees with a height of 40-70 meters and a diameter of about 1 meter. The trees are connected by steel cables, and the skeletons are hung, and the two sides are blocked by mesh braiding belts, and people can walk on them. This is the so-called canopy corridor, which is about 30 meters above the ground. Each tree has a platform for people to rest or relax. Walking up is a little wobbly, people who are afraid of heights dare not walk, and timid people scream while walking. It's a piece of cake for me, I don't need to pull the handrails when walking on it, and I can shoot videos while walking.

After walking through the canopy corridor, I feel like walking in the air for a while. There were very few people in the scenic spot, so there were only three of us at that time. After walking for a while, there were screams of girls and laughter of boys from behind. The scenic spot requires that when one person reaches the platform of the previous tree, the next person will leave. If many people walk together, it is estimated that the shaking is severe and it is not safe. In fact, the mesh of the guardrail is very dense, and it cannot be dropped even if you want to.

After getting off the canopy corridor, there are two paths to choose from. One is Cai Xitao trail and the other is Philip trail. From the map, Philip's trail is longer than Cai Xitao's trail. If you take both trails, you have to go back and the time is limited. Finally decided to take the Philip trail.

The Philip Trail is named in commemoration of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who witnessed the Chinese tropical rainforest to the world. In 1986, Prince Philip, chairman of the World Wildlife Fund, visited Xishuangbanna. He was deeply shocked by the animals and plants here, especially the tall and straight Wangtian tree. After returning, Prince Philip introduced to his colleagues his inspection in Xishuangbanna, China, where he witnessed the tropical rainforest. He also wrote a book and introduced the Xishuangbanna Rainforest to the world. The tropical rainforest in Xishuangbanna, China, went to the world with Prince Philip, so people called the trail that Prince Philip took to inspect the tropical rainforest the "Philip Trail."

Strangling phenomenon----strangling phenomenon is a peculiar landscape in the tropical rainforest of Xishuangbanna. Most of the strangled plants are banyan trees. The seeds of these strangled plants are mostly passed through the droppings of birds or blown by the wind to palm trees, hemlock trees and other trunks where banyan trees are easy to grow. After germination, their roots are implanted at the bottom of the strangled plants . The strangled plants wrap around the stems of palm trees, hemlock trees, etc., and compete with the strangled plants for nutrients and water. The strangled plants slowly grow into tropical plants that are both epiphytic and autonomous. After several years, the roots of the strangled plants firmly cut off the water supply of palm trees and hemlock trees, and the strangled plants will gradually die due to lack of nutrition and water.

Another peculiar landscape is the buttock, that is, the root of the tree is shaped like a board.

The Wangtianshu Scenic Area is very large, and our time is limited, so we only looked at these three categories. When you go again in the future, you must drive by yourself, stay in Mengla County or Wangtianshu Scenic Area for one night or more, and enjoy it slowly.
