Today is the 24th day of our self-driving tour in China with one person, one car and one dog. We set off from Zhenyuan Ancient Town in the morning, and now we have arrived at Jiuzhou Ancient City, Huangping County.

The specific route is: Zhenyuan Ancient Town—>Provincial Highway 306—>Shibing County—>Provincial Highway 306—>Huangping County—>Provincial Highway 204—>Jiuzhou Ancient City (Qilan Ancient Country).

Today, after coming out of Zhenyuan Ancient Town and turning to Provincial Highway 306, we saw Zhenyuan Wende Pass, which is one of the fortresses of the ancient post road in Yunnan and Guizhou.

Today's road conditions are very good, except for a two- to three-kilometer-long road construction section on Provincial Highway 306.

The provincial highway in Guizhou Province that I took today is in good condition and the scenery is eye-catching.

A total of 93 kilometers were driven today.

Following the footsteps of the Red Army, we soon arrived at the present Huangping County.

When I went to Huangping County, I was looking for the Red Army Huangpi Battle Site Monument.

When I set up the navigation, I saw that it was a red spot, and I was very happy at the time, thinking it would be easy to find. Who knew that when I reached the Huangping Battle Site Monument, I walked around the Red Army Road a few times. There was no sign, and I couldn't find the door to enter. This place is also relatively remote, and I couldn't find anyone to ask.

Seeing such a country road, I tried to walk up the road.

The Red Army Huangping Battle Site Monument really lies quietly beside this trail.

To be honest, seeing the status quo of the Red Army Huangping battle site monument lying in a weeds, I really feel heartbroken.

After leaving Huangping County (Xinzhou), I came to the old county of Huangping: the ancient city of Jiuzhou.

The ancient city of Jiuzhou has been developed into a scenic spot since last year. Self-driving vehicles cannot enter, and can only be parked in a unified parking lot outside the city.

There is an underground parking garage in the south gate parking lot, which can protect vehicles from the sun, so I chose to enter the ancient city from the south gate.

From the tower of the south gate, you can overlook the ancient city and the square outside the city.

When I arrived in the ancient city of Jiuzhou, I first came to the Catholic Church, which was the former site of the headquarters of the Sixth Red Army. During the Long March of the Sixth Red Army, a story of a French version of Guizhou map also happened here.

In the early morning of October 2, 1937, the vanguard of the Sixth Red Army captured Jiuzhou City. After entering the city, a French version of Guizhou map nearly one square meter in size was found in the Catholic Church, but no one could understand it.

It just so happened that the day before, when the Red Sixth Army passed through Fort Taiweng and arrived in Jiuzhou, it "captured" a foreign missionary who knew French, so the commander of Xiao Ke immediately asked him to go to the headquarters of the army as an interpreter, and took notes in person, and sent the map Translated from French to Chinese.

This map later played a vital role for the Red Sixth Army to go out of Xiangxi and move to Yunnan and Guizhou.

The Old State Catholic Church was built in 1901 by the French missionary, Father Moose, with various funds.

The church building is in European French style, 12 meters long and 8 meters wide, and is located east and west. The walls of the house are all made of ancient square bricks, and they are arranged horizontally and vertically, which is very beautiful. The east wall of the house is one meter above the roof ridge. The top is high in the middle and the ends are low. It has a windproof and fireproof structure. There are three round rose windows on the wall, one big and two small. The structure is like a carriage wheel, which is peculiar and elegant.

The internal structure of the church is unique, with five spire-shaped structures in the middle, shaped like four open giant umbrellas, and six large pillars supporting the roof beams, which is extremely ingenious.

The main body of the Catholic Church is divided into two parts: the chanting hall and the living hall, which is the living hall.

This is the foreign missionary, named Busart, who was born in Switzerland and was born in England.

He came to China in the early 1920s and preached in Zunyi, Zhenyuan, and Huangping in Guizhou.

Later, Busart traveled to western Hunan and Yunnan with the Long March of the Second and Sixth Red Army Corps, which took 18 months. In April 1936, when the Red Army was about to arrive in Kunming, considering the urgent military situation and frequent wars, he was asked to leave the Red Army after sending him some silver dollars as travel expenses.

He later wrote the book "The Hand of the Gods", which is one of the earliest works by foreigners to promote the Red Army.

Busart was the first foreigner to participate in the world-famous Long March of the Red Army, and he was also one of the two foreigners who participated in the Long March of the Red Army.

Today's Jiuzhou ancient city has a new look.

Many units of the Red Army have been to Huangping many times. This afternoon, I inquired in the ancient city of Jiuzhou. Many footprints left by the Red Army have been preserved here. Therefore, tomorrow I will continue to search for the Red Army in the ancient city of Jiuzhou. Footprint of the year.

See you tomorrow!
