Enough to subvert your cognition and imagination of beauty

 Swan Lake

Homeland of migratory birds in the desert

About 6 kilometers into the desert from the Tungu Zhuoersumu reception station, the first thing you arrive at is Swan Lake. In March and April and September and October every year, there will be many swans inhabiting here, so it is called "Swan Lake".

The surface of Swan Lake is long and thin, and the surface of the lake is as calm as a mirror. Lush vegetation is distributed on one side of the lake, while the other side has less vegetation and has shown obvious white salinization.

 Ulan Lake

fiery heart of the earth

After driving about 12 kilometers from Swan Lake, you will arrive at the highlight of this trip - Wulan Lake. Ulan means "red" in Mongolian. There are several red lakes in the shape of strings of pearls, dotted with burgundy spots, exuding an irresistible temptation.

Ulan Lake will change with the seasons. Due to the large amount of evaporation in summer, Ulan Lake has the best viewing effect. If it rains the day before, it will stir up the microorganisms at the bottom of the lake, and the lake water will be more intense the next day. red.

Suhaitu Lake

disappearing lake

The distance between Suhaitu Lake and Wulan Lake is about 16 kilometers. Due to the huge amount of evaporation, the current Suhaitu Lake is almost dry. If it is not overlooked by drones, there are almost no traces of the lake, only white saline is left , loose green plants and endless yellow sand.

Like many seasonal lakes in the desert, perhaps a single rainfall can awaken their new life. If you are in a hurry, you can skip Suhaitu Lake and go directly to the next lake.

sun lake

strange abstract pattern

Not far from Suhaitu Lake is the largest Sun Lake in this trip. It looks ordinary from the lakeside, but it is amazing when overlooking the Sun Lake from the air. The white saline-alkali strokes, filled with yellow lake water, and distinct layers form a unique abstract pattern.

But beware of a pungent stench coming from the lake, of course it is harmless to the body, it is just smelly. It is said that it originated from something called "worm eggs" in the lake. I don't know if it is a plant or an animal, but local herdsmen will fish it out and sell it for money.

moon lake

Crescent Bay in the desert

After climbing over several large sand mountains, at a commanding height, you can overlook the last lake of this trip - Moon Lake.

Standing on the sand dunes and looking far away, Moon Lake lives up to its name, and the lake is indeed shaped like the moon. The surrounding oases also seem to be more dense. This Crescent Bay in the desert adds a vibrant scene to the vast no-man's land.
