If you feel that Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is too commercialized, you might as well take a look at this village only 20 kilometers away from Xijiang—Langde Shangzhai
Langde Shangzhai belongs to Leishan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It is a Miao village with 100 families. It is 29 kilometers away from the urban area of Kaili and 15 kilometers away from the county government Leishan. Langde Shangzhai ancient architectural complex is listed as the fifth batch of key cultural relics protection units in my country.
The dwellings are built on the hillside, and they are wooden structures on stilts. There are five flower streets leading to the village. In the east, west and north, there are gate towers with wooden pillars and tile roofs, referred to as "zhaimen" for short.
On the village, there are row upon row of wooden buildings on stilts, which are well arranged. The roads, courtyard dams and gates in the village are all paved with cobblestones or bluestones. Surrounded by mountains and mountains, it is a very ancient Miao village with rich cultural heritage, and it is also the only Miao village where the 2008 Beijing Olympic torch relay passed.
There is no strong commercial atmosphere here, and the customs of the Miao nationality are still maintained here. The melodious reeds are played, and the twelve gates of wine are the most solemn ceremony for the Miao people to welcome guests who come from afar.
