Unexpectedly, when we came to the parking lot of the scenic spot, the weather did not improve but became worse, with dark clouds overwhelming, and a heavy rain was about to come. The weather is unpredictable, since you are here, let's buy a ticket to enter the scenic spot. However, just after entering the scenic spot, it was rainy and windy. Although it was useless to hold an umbrella, I finally walked to a place where I could shelter from the wind and rain, but my shoes and lower body were soaked by the rain, which was very disappointing. After waiting for a long time, the rain still kept falling, but it was a little lighter, so I had to go to the front in the rain to have a look. After leaving Xining City, walk more than 40 kilometers on the highway to Datong County, and then take National Highway 227. After passing through the Dabanshan Tunnel, the Dabanshan Observation Deck is not far away. This is the main traffic route from Qinghai to Gansu. From the viewing platform, you can overlook the Gangshika Snow Peak (the highest peak in the eastern Qilian Mountains, 5,254 meters above sea level) and the sea of rapeseed flowers in Menyuan. After lunch, the weather turned slightly better, so I hurried to the Zhuoer Mountain Scenic Area, which is only a few kilometers away from the county seat. Qilian Mountain is the border between Qinghai and Gansu and one of the most important mountain ranges in China. Zhuoer Mountain is a branch of Qilian Mountains. It presents a hilly grassland scenery, and its own landform belongs to Danxia landform. The exposed parts of the mountain are all red sandstone, which overlaps with the green grassland. From Qilian to Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park, you can take Provincial Highway 204 and then turn to Provincial Highway 213. It is said that there is also a road that can take county roads and other rural roads. The roads are relatively short, but some road conditions are good. Bad, there is no advantage in terms of time; you can also return to Ebao Town, which you passed the day before yesterday, and then take National Highway 227 to Minle to reach your destination. If you go this way, it will be about 50 kilometers away, but the road conditions are good, and the time is guaranteed. Learning from the lessons we learned from taking the wrong road from Tingri to Dangxiong last time, we chose the latter route to Zhangye. As long as the road conditions are good, it is no problem to walk dozens of kilometers more.

Passing through Minle’s Biandukou tourist area, it was still raining sporadically, so I parked in the parking lot at the entrance and took a look before leaving. Minle County has also planted a large area of rape blossoms in recent years, and vigorously publicized it, hoping to get a share of the tourism market. But to be honest, the natural environmental conditions here cannot be compared with Menyuan at all.

If we pass through Zhangye and Wuwei, we will go into the urban area to take a walk and have a look. After departure, we still take the 213 Provincial Highway to Zhangye, drive around the city and go to the Zhangye Dafo Temple, then leave, take the G30 Lianhuo Expressway and go straight to Wuwei. It rained non-stop on the way, and it rained heavily for a while, but fortunately it stopped when we approached Wuwei.

When we arrived in Wuwei City, we went to Leitai Park. Wuwei, also known as Liangzhou, used to be the hub of the Silk Road and a famous historical and cultural city in China. Leitai Park is the place where the Chinese tourism symbol "horse stepping on flying swallows" was unearthed. It is free to enter the park and visited the exhibition hall, but the famous bronze statue of "Horse Stepping on a Flying Swallow" has been collected by Gansu Provincial Museum, and what is displayed here is a replica.

Today's Lanzhou one-day tour went to Gansu Provincial Museum, Yellow River Mother Sculpture, Lanzhou Waterwheel Park, Yellow River Iron Bridge (Zhongshan Bridge), Dazhong Lane, and Zhangye Pedestrian Street. Today is Sunday, which is not a day when foreign cars are restricted in Lanzhou City. We parked our car in a small parking lot at the entrance of a shopping mall not far from the museum. First, I visited the Gansu Provincial Museum, where the venue is spacious and the exhibits are rich. I saw that the roads in the urban area were dilapidated, dusty, and the appearance of the city was very ordinary. After visiting the urban area, we followed the navigation to Maiji Mountain. Unexpectedly, we encountered road construction again, and the muddy and rotten road of tens of kilometers made us walk very hard. At 1:00 p.m., we finally arrived at Maijishan Heshun Manor, the accommodation in the scenic area. After putting down our luggage, we went to visit the Maijishan Grottoes.

The Maijishan Grottoes are one of the most famous grottoes in Northwest my country. Together with the Yungang Grottoes, Longmen Grottoes and Mogao Grottoes, they are collectively known as the "Four Great Grottoes in China". Maiji Mountain, where the grottoes are located, is an isolated mountain with steep rock walls and surrounded by green plants, with beautiful scenery. When visiting, you have to climb the suspended plank road on the cliff, you can not only enjoy the Buddhist art in the grottoes hundreds of years ago, but also appreciate the surrounding scenery, and you can also experience the thrills of the plank road under your feet. We walked and watched with the flow of people, slowly turned around, and visited for about 2 hours.

Gansu - Tianshui - Maiji Mountain Grottoes

Stay at Tianshui Maiji Mountain Heshun Manor at night, which is in the scenic area. There is more than one village in the scenic area, and now almost every household has a farmhouse, and some of them are built on a large scale. There is a distance from the gate to the place of residence. Call the owner to pick it up at the gate. You can drive the car directly to the farmhouse where you are staying. Tickets need to be bought, but you can save the ticket price for the battery car. It's just that there are too many farmhouses in the scenic area and too complicated. Whether it's the surrounding environment or the place to live, it feels so-so.

D37—D39 July 10th—July 12th Tianshui—Xiangyang—Jian—Shantou (790+810+640 total 2240 kilometers)

Starting today, it will take 3 days to catch up with the 2,240-kilometer journey and return to Shantou, Guangdong via Shaanxi, Hubei, and Jiangxi. The whole road is high-speed, and the road conditions are good. There are many sections with a speed limit of 120 kilometers, and the driving is smooth. The speed limit when entering Guangdong is 100 kilometers; when entering Meizhou, the speed limit is 80 kilometers, and the driving speed will be much slower.

In Xiangyang and Ji'an, I stayed at the Vienna Hotel (Xiangyang Diamond Avenue Branch) diagonally opposite Times Street in Xiangyang City, and the Vienna Hotel (Jian Railway Station Branch) near the Ji'an Railway Station. Not bad, worth recommending.

On the afternoon of the 12th, I returned to Shantou smoothly and safely. So far, the self-driving tour of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which lasted 39 days, crossed 10 provinces, and traveled 12,900 kilometers, has come to a successful conclusion.
