Jade Dragon Lacuo in West Paradise Yaochi

Yulong Lacuo is located at the foot of Queer Mountain in Dege County. The crystal-clear large glaciers pour down from the snow basin at an altitude of 5,000 meters, which is extremely spectacular.

According to legend, there is a beautiful story that the concubine of King Gesar, a Tibetan hero, was attracted by such a beautiful lake and quiet environment when she came to Lacuo, Yulong. She lingered by the lake and refused to leave for a long time. Later, in order to commemorate the concubine's love for this holy lake, people named the lake Yulong Lacuo.

The lake is tightly surrounded by tall snow-capped mountains all year round, like a barrier, isolating the worldly troubles of the outside world, hiding this small world deep in the boudoir.

The clear and pure glacial melt water is continuously poured into the lake, providing fresh and long-lasting vitality for the ecology of the lake area. The stream flowing from the tail of the lake is one of the sources of the Cuoqu River.

If quietness is a kind of beauty, then Yulong Lacuo should be well praised. Surrounded by plateau spruce, fir, cypress, rhododendron and meadows, the lake presents a unique visual feast in every season.

In Tibetan areas, there is never a lack of color, and it is the same in Yulong Lacuo. He has his own unique color matching system, which has different colors when viewed from different angles.

Blue is the depth of the sky, it is also the gradient blue of the different depths of the lake, and it is the fluorescent blue that penetrates the glacier.

White is the floating clouds in the sky, the mist on the frivolous lake, the eternal snow color in the mountains, the waves in the rushing stream, or the white tower standing quietly.

Green, derived from the color symbolized by natural vitality, is endowed in forests, meadows, and shrubs, with different shades, and the layers gradually open, looming.

Red is the scriptures imprinted on the stones by the lake, the mountains dyed red by the rising sun, and the afterglow cast on the lake at sunset

Yellow is the color of the season, the dense flowers blooming on the meadow in summer, the gilt vegetation in autumn, and the unpretentious soil.

Coupled with the colorful prayer flags moving with the wind by the lake, the traditional dwellings of herdsmen, and the animals cruising among them, movement and stillness, cold and warm, together constitute this colorful fairyland on earth.

This is a place so quiet that you dare not speak loudly. You can find beautiful imaginations one by one. It can be described as a glimpse of heaven and a glimpse of the world. It makes people want to build a hut by the lake and live a good life.

Animal paradise in a small world

In the ecological barrier of Yulong Lacuo, it is an ideal and perfect habitat for animals and plants. There are nearly 180 species of wild animals living here. Including many national primary and secondary protected animals.

It mainly includes white-lipped deer, leopard, snow leopard, argali, vulture and other rare animals, as well as cattle and sheep that can be seen everywhere.

Generally, raptors do not appear in the relatively low-altitude lake area. When you walk there, you can see more pine trees jumping in the forest and wild birds under the bushes. The most pleasant surprise is probably the encounter with the white-lipped deer.

Barefoot Daxian

Dignity comes from silence and simplicity

Those who have been to Yulong Lacuo

Everyone knows the story about the Barefoot Immortal

Originally a Tibetan who avoided chaos during the Cultural Revolution, he lived in caves on the cliffs by the lake for decades, and gradually got used to this peaceful life away from the world and surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers. I have always been used to bare feet, so everyone affectionately called him "Barefoot Immortal".

He was also a pilgrim who came to Lhasa, and accompanied the vicissitudes of life in Yulong Lacuo with his limited life. Use the money gained from alms to ask someone to seal the Mani stone, build the White Pagoda, and leave the most devout blessings and wishes in this beloved land.
