I have long heard the name of colorful Guizhou. It is known as "eight mountains, one water and one field". It is fascinating for its beautiful landscape, nature and simple humanistic customs.
I still remember that I made a version of the itinerary strategy before the vacation in November 2016, and my heart was in Qiandongnan. Unfortunately, the scenic spots in Guizhou were too scattered, and the traffic was not very convenient at that time. You could either drive by yourself, or go to Dushan or Mawei in a green leather car, then take a bus, and finally chose Guangzhou.
In June 2021, due to the outbreak in Guangzhou, the original exhibition was postponed. On a whim, I decided to take a one-year anniversary leave to match the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, and to have a "walking all the way to Guizhou" as soon as I said it.
Speaking of which, this time is a bit like a graduation trip:
One is to catch up with the 2021 graduation season, and the day of the trip coincides with the college entrance examination period. This summer also happens to be the tenth anniversary of my graduation and entering the workplace.

"Zheergen", also known as Houttuynia cordata, is a must-have snack on Guizhou people's tables. Not far away is another [Jinbixuan] that has been collected, so hurry up and find a seat. The basis of daily rampage is to have delicious food to replenish energy, so I quickly ordered a few signature dishes: braised pork knuckles, cake porridge, rose ice, rice tofu.
[Braised pig's knuckle] One of the signature dishes of Qingyan Ancient Town, has been recommended by a friend before, how can you miss it when you come here? The Q bombs on the outside are chewy, and the more you eat, the more addictive you will be. One person rammed all the trotters off this plate, and added collagen by the way, haha!
[Cake, Cake and Porridge] One of the signature dishes of Qingyan Ancient Town, if Xie’s family is closed today, try it at Jinbixuan. The waiter specially reminded when serving the food: it is delicious when it is hot and stirred evenly. There are many ingredients used: glutinous rice flour, lotus root starch, peanuts, sesame, roses, it feels like eating gnocchi when I was a child, super delicious!
[Rose Ice Powder] In my impression, I must order this dessert every time I go to the southwest for business/travel. I love the cool and smooth taste, and it can relieve the spicy taste.

Sitting on the side of the road and searching for reviews, I happened to see this popular restaurant [Zhaishang Yao]. I followed the navigation to find it, and the business was really good. Anyway, I was alone, so I cooperated with the boss to arrange an extra seat in the open-air on the opposite side of the road. Catch up with the review benefits and experience this super large [Old Street Hydrochloric Acid Stuffy Carp]. The deep-fried fish goes well with the sweet and sour sauce. Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Scenic Area

Just in time for dinner, I went to the [Rural Noodle House] on the ancient street to have a bowl of beef noodles. Although the store is small, it is also one of the popular local restaurants. [Egg Man Guan] Next door to the Rural Credit Cooperative in Xijiang Ancient Street, 20 yuan per capita. Recommended dish: egg filling.
For dinner, continue to check in the ancient street to check in the intangible cultural heritage snacks of the Miao nationality [Egg Manguan]. The boss kindly suggested that I could take pictures and videos to record the production process of this intangible cultural heritage. Beat the eggs and mix them well, cook them in a pot, stuff them into the meat stuffing with dried shrimps, and then add seaweed and coriander, the taste is also very good.
Guizhou souvenirs
If you want to bring some Guizhou specialties as souvenirs to your relatives and friends, you can consider dried prickly pears, beef jerky, bobo sugar, sausages, Maojian tea, etc. Of course, the most famous one is Maotai liquor. I picked dried prickly pears of different flavors and brought them back.

1. From May 10, 2021 to August 17, 2021 (a total of 100 days), the state-owned A-level scenic spots in Guizhou Province hold 6 provinces and 2 cities (Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Fujian Province, Shandong Province, Tourists with resident ID cards in Guangdong Province, Liaoning Province, Shanghai City, and Chongqing City will be given free entrance tickets.
Although tickets are exempted, you still need to make an appointment to purchase scenic sightseeing cars, insurance and other items. Most of the scenic spots implement a time-sharing reservation system. You can choose the travel date and admission time to book tickets in advance on the official website of the scenic spot or WeChat official account.
[New Museum of Guizhou Provincial Museum] Swipe ID card + mobile phone reservation QR code verification to enter the museum.
[Anshun Huangguoshu Scenic Area] Directly swipe the ID card face recognition to enter the park and take the scenic sightseeing bus. Tickets with sightseeing cars are valid within three days after activation.
[Libo Xiaoqikong Scenic Spot] Directly swipe the ID card face recognition to enter the park and take the sightseeing car of Xiaoqikong Scenic Spot. Tickets with sightseeing cars are valid within two days after activation.
[Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Scenic Area] You need to go to the Tourist Service Center to swipe your ID card to exchange tickets for admission. If you purchased a 4-way sightseeing bus in advance, you must also carry your ID card or ticket with you, and take the sightseeing bus after verification. Tickets with sightseeing cars are valid within three days after activation.
2. I often see friends who are about to travel in the group asking whether they should buy sightseeing tickets for scenic spots when booking tickets. The following personal opinions are for reference only.
[Anshun Huangguoshu Scenic Spot] [Libo Xiaoqikong Scenic Spot] The scenic spots are relatively scattered, most of which are winding mountain roads, and it is almost necessary to buy scenic sightseeing tickets. There are many areas in the scenic spot that need to be visited on foot. Taking a sightseeing bus can help save energy, otherwise it will really become a wild adventure, haha~
[Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Scenic Area] This place varies from person to person. If you buy a ticket in advance, the default is 20 yuan to take a 4-way sightseeing bus, or you can buy a 5-yuan one-way ticket at the boarding point as needed. The routes involved include: Dabeimen<>Xiaobeimen, No. 1 Fengyu Bridge<>observation platform, Ximen<>Changxiao.
Dabeimen <> Xiaobeimen: This section is a scenic bus, about 1.2 kilometers one way. If you are a tourist with a suitcase, it is recommended to buy a ticket for a round trip. After entering Xiaobeimen, you will find that there is still a long journey waiting for you~
No. 1 Wind and Rain Bridge <> Observation Deck: This section is an environmentally friendly sightseeing bus, about 1 km one way. If you are a tourist with the elderly and children, it is still a bit difficult to go uphill, so it is recommended to buy a ticket.
After watching the night view from the viewing platform, it is just the peak of queuing up to go down the mountain by car. Friends who want to enjoy the night view of Miao Village from different angles can choose to walk down the mountain. It takes 3 minutes by car, and it takes only ten minutes to walk.
Some friends will ask if there is a bus between Xiaobeimen and No. 1 Fengyu Bridge? The answer is yes, but it is a village service vehicle, which is only used by Miao villagers and internal staff.
So you will see many tourists dragging their suitcases and bumping on the uneven stone road, looking for their own hotels and inns. It is recommended to contact the hotel staff in advance and agree on where to pick you up.
Ximen<>Chang Xiao: This section is not clear about the specific situation, it should be the route from Ximen to and from the viewing platform. If you are a friend who lives near Ximen, it is recommended to ask the hotel staff in advance.
3. Pay attention to the WeChat public account or official Weibo of tourist attractions in advance, such as [Huangguoshu Scenic Spot], [Libo Xiaoqikong Ticketing Official Website], [Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Scenic Spot], etc.
The weather in Guizhou is known as "the sky is not sunny for three days". It is recommended to keep an umbrella or poncho, especially in outdoor scenic spots such as Anshun Huangguoshu Waterfall and Libo Xiaoqikong. In case of continuous heavy rainfall, some scenic spots will close some scenic spots or even close the park. The corresponding media platforms will also release announcements in advance, so you can pay attention to it in time and prepare early to avoid delays in your schedule.

Libo Xiaoqikong Scenic Area: Dongmen Service Center provides free self-service luggage storage cabinets, and you can deposit/pick up directly by scanning the QR code on WeChat.
Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Scenic Area: North Gate Visitor Center provides luggage storage, and the charge is 15-20 yuan/24 hours. Friends who are staying in Miao Village and don’t want to drag their suitcases uphill can consider it.
5. The daily routine of getting used to running wild is also a part of the journey to Guizhou. The number of steps per day during the journey has reached 20,000+. It is necessary to prepare several pairs of replacement sports shoes or casual shoes, otherwise how can you measure the world with your feet. Of course, if you want to step on the water in Xiaoqikong Scenic Area, you can bring a pair of slippers or sandals.
6. If you take Guiyang Metro Line 1/2, you can purchase tickets by scanning codes at the self-service machines in the station. Or download the "Yi Ying Qian Xing" APP, register and open a card to recharge, and scan the code to enjoy a 10% discount.
7. When taking Guiyang public transport, it supports QR code scanning with QuickPass, but does not support WeChat/Alipay for the time being. Looking back on this journey, after sorting out the travel notes, I found some regrets and hoped to make up for it in the second brush.
The biggest regret is that after the heavy rainfall [Anshun Huangguoshu Scenic Spot] missed the most beautiful Silver Chain Falling Pool Waterfall and the rainbow in front of Shuilian Cave, [Libo Xiaoqikong Scenic Spot] and Xiaoqikong Ancient Bridge, Yuanyang Lake, The pool of emeralds in Wolongtan passed by.
In all fairness, traveling in Guizhou really depends on your luck to see the weather, and the perception and mood brought by the scenery presented in different seasons or weather will be completely different.
If you have plenty of travel time, you might as well arrange to stay one night around Anshun and spend two days visiting Huangguoshu Scenic Area. Half a day to play the entire Tianxing Bridge in depth, half a day to visit the Great Waterfall and Steep Pond. Recently, it coincides with the peak summer tourist season, and it is said that during the peak hours of Shuilian Cave, you have to queue for more than an hour. If possible, you can explore the Shuilian Cave early in the morning.
The originally planned [Zhenyuan Ancient City] (which is as famous as Qingyan Ancient Town, "Guizhou's Four Ancient Towns") also failed to take place due to time constraints. Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is a 2-hour drive from Zhenyuan Ancient City. If the itinerary is arranged for a day alone, you can consider staying in Zhenyuan Ancient City for one night.
Judging from the photos and videos shared by the friends in the group, the night view of Zhenyuan Ancient City is also very good. On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, a suitable dragon boat race was also held on the Wuyang River in Zhenyuan. Friends who want to take the Guizhou Great Ring Road can also go to the famous cultural mountain [Fanjing Mountain] in Tongren from Zhenyuan.
In addition to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, there are many distinctive but relatively unpopular ethnic minority villages in Southeast Guizhou, such as Zhaoxing Dong Village, Tang’an Dong Village, Langde Shang Village, and Basha Miao Village. Compared with Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, the degree of commercialization is not so high, and it retains an authentic cultural relic.
Back to Guiyang, the starting point of the journey, there are also many special attractions around the city that are worth visiting, such as [Tianhetan Tourist Resort], [Huaxi Yelang Valley], [Huaxi National Urban Wetland Park], etc. recommended by my friends. Like Qingyan Ancient Town, it is located in Huaxi District, and it is a little far away from the urban area. It is necessary to plan the traffic route and specific itinerary in advance.
