China is so big, I want to visit it. Take you to a place you have been or have not been to.
Grape ditch, the grapes in Turpan are ripe
Where grapes are abundant in China, of course it is Xinjiang; where the grapes in Xinjiang are the best, of course they are grapes from Turpan. Turpan is the concentrated grape production area with the longest history of viticulture, the largest area and the best quality in my country. A Xinjiang folk song "The Grapes in Turpan Are Ripe", you will really get drunk when you arrive in Turpan.
I came to Turpan, Xinjiang in August 2008, which happened to be the time when a large number of Turpan grapes were ripe and on the market. Turpan is located in the eastern part of the Tianshan Mountains, surrounded by mountains on all sides, with an olive-shaped intermountain basin lying horizontally from east to west, and the sunlight lasts for 12 or 3 hours in summer. The topography of the basin is not easy to dissipate heat, which makes the basin extremely hot and the accumulated temperature is very high. However, the temperature in the Great Gobi drops rapidly at night, and the temperature difference between day and night reaches about 15 degrees. The unique climate environment is very suitable for the accumulation of sugar in grapes and other fruits.
Planting melons and fruits requires a lot of water. Turpan is dry and rainless, with an annual precipitation of only 16 millimeters and evaporation as high as 3,000 millimeters. The irrigation of large oasis crops benefits from the nourishment of Karez (the content of Karez will be published separately).
If you don't come to Grape Valley, you will come to Turpan in vain. Grape Valley is the largest valley in Turpan Flaming Mountain Valley. The Flame Mountain is red and wild, but the Grape Valley is full of springs and vitality. Grape Valley is 7 kilometers long and about 2 kilometers wide at its widest point. It is like a green ribbon flowing in the center of the Turpan Basin. I came to the Grape Valley Tourist Area in Turpan.
There are many varieties of grapes in Turpan. According to reports, there are 52 varieties of grapes in Grape Valley, and seedless white grapes are the most planted, accounting for 90% of the area.
In addition to eating fresh, the grapes in Turpan are mostly used to dry raisins. The local summer is windy, the temperature is high and the climate is dry. In the Gobi Desert, a five- to six-meter-high shade house (known as "Jongji" in Uighur) is built with adobe to avoid direct sunlight, and the walls are ventilated with holes. After about a month of drying in the shade and shrinking water, it can be harvested The raisins are gone.
Grape Valley Wang Luobin Art Museum
In 1957, Wang Luobin and several members of the Art Troupe of the Xinjiang Military Region came to Turpan Grape Valley to collect and record Uyghur folk songs. Wang Luobin met Wang Huizhu, an agricultural technician sent by the county, during his life experience. Wang Huizhu is from Hunan. After graduating from Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, she volunteered to work in Xinjiang. The organization agreed to her request and assigned her to work as an agricultural technician at the Agricultural Technology Station of Turpan County. Her job was to promote the scientific planting technology of large-scale seedless white grapes in Grape Valley.
In the 1950s, Wang Huizhu (pictured) taught grape planting techniques to Uighur farmers in Grape Valley
The 18-year-old Wang Huizhu is beautiful, highly educated, skilled, able to endure hardship, and very popular. The local Uyghur fellow gave her a nice Uyghur name "Heiliqihan". In Uighur, "Heiliqihan" means "beautiful and holy angel" and is a common name for Uighur girls.
Wang Huizhu can speak Uyghur fluently and is as lively as a lark, so she acted as the Uyghur translator for Wang Luobin's collection and creation. Later, Wang Luobin created a singing and dancing table based on Wang Huizhu and sang "Heiliqihan". In the lyrics, there are Heiliqihan, larks in Grape Valley, border guards, and Kurban (a common name for Uighur men). The songs and dances express a kind of love for the motherland and life.
Grape Valley Uighur Farmhouse Visit Point
The Uighurs are very particular about the courtyard, and like to plant flowers and grapes in the courtyard, so that the whole living environment looks quiet and fresh, reflecting the unique taste of the owner. The host will entertain the guests with the melons and fruits he planted by himself, and welcome you with a dance of merry dance.
Finally, I will play the beautiful song "Heiliqihan" for you.
