It took us more than 6 hours to drive from Chongqing to Zhenyuan. It was noon, the sky was blue, the sun was shining brightly, and the temperature was several degrees lower than that in Chongqing.
Zhenyuan is an ancient city of Miao Township with a long history, known as "the key of Dian Chu, the gateway of eastern Guizhou". The county was established two thousand years ago, and it was named Zhenyuan in the Song Dynasty.
An inconspicuous shop in the town, mainly selling Zhangjiang duck. Maybe it was too early and the journey was long, everyone was already hungry, and after a gust of wind and clouds, all the dishes were swept away. Zhangjiang duck, which has never been eaten in Hunan several times, was encountered in Zhenyuan by chance, and the taste is not bad.
Zhou Dawen's former residence is in a small alley in the town, and it is also the former site of the Zhenyuan underground branch of the Communist Party of China.
The former residence is a quadrangle courtyard, surrounded by tall wind and fire walls (presumably built by the old house to prevent bandits), and there is a gold plaque of "Zhou Dawen's former residence" written by Wu Xiuquan on the front hall gate. In the center of the main hall is a marble statue of Zhou Dawen. It is a pity that the young people with lofty ideals did not die under the guns of the enemy, but died unjustly in the "hometown of the October Revolution".
Peace Village is a special place just off the main road. During the anti-Japanese period, our country set up two correctional shelters for Japanese prisoners of war, one in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, and the other in Zhenyuan. The biggest feeling after the visit is that peace is hard-won, and it also reflects the magnanimity of the Chinese people.
