Beautiful scenery often coexists with challenges, especially on the Sichuan-Tibet line. The 72nd turn of the Nujiang River is a great challenge on this most scenic avenue in China, a place where countless drivers are deeply moved by the "dangerousness"! This time, I not only saw its true colors, but also at a dangerous time - night!

After departing from Rumei Town in Mangkang County at noon, passing through Zuogong County, it should be around evening, but before sunset, you can pass the 72nd turn of the Nujiang River. This way, the view will be better and it will be more beneficial for driving. However, many unexpected things often happen during the journey, such as a flat tire!

The location of the puncture is tens of kilometers away from the 72nd turn of the Nujiang River, and 20 kilometers away from the nearest Bangda Town, Basu County. It is not easy to change a tire on a mountain with an altitude of more than 4,000. The effort, coupled with the low temperature and strong wind, delayed the trip by an hour. After that, I spent 50 yuan to replace the spare tire in Bangda Town, which is a conscience price.

At 8:30 in the evening, I finally climbed to the pass of Yela Mountain at 4658 meters. At this time, the sun has quietly hidden behind the mountain. From Bangda Town, the road before arriving at the viewing platform is already very difficult. There are many potholes along the way, and the slope is large and the curvature is many. very difficult.

Although Nujiang 72 to Guai is not a scenic spot, but as the only way to pass through the Sichuan-Tibet line, it is very dangerous. It still makes many travelers stop here. Looking down from a high place, it looks like a snake, which is very exciting. The tongue-twisting winding mountain road.

Especially at night, this winding road in the mountains is covered with more mysterious colors and looks even more shocking! The sky is getting later and later, the light is getting darker, and the vision of driving will also become worse, the difficulty will be greater, and the risk factor will also be greater.

I couldn't wait any longer, I glanced at the road I was about to take, and then I hurried on. It is said that someone has specially counted that there are more than one hundred bends in this section of the winding mountain road. Although I did not count the bends with my fingers, I clearly feel what is called "one after another U-shaped bend"! Just being thrown from the previous corner and not slowing down, the next corner has already been connected!

So, what is it like to walk on the 72 turns of the Nujiang River at night? In a word: easy to deal with, there is no danger, but don't take it lightly! Why do you say that? Although it is very dangerous, for us, it is basically easy to pass. Of course, there are several prerequisites. First, the technology must pass the test, and second, you must understand and be able to control your own car proficiently. More importantly, Have a good mental quality! These 3 factors are indispensable!

Walking this section of the road, you must first climb Yela Mountain at an altitude of about 4,658 meters, and then spiral down to the Nujiang Canyon at an altitude of about 3,100 meters. The relative height difference is nearly 1,500 meters, the road is narrow, the slope is steep, and the outside is a cliff! The whole process is very thrilling. If you don’t know your own car well, it’s easy to have accidents when meeting cars, and if your mental quality is not good enough, you may break through your psychological defense line when you face a cliff when you make a sharp turn downhill, and the consequences will be unimaginable!

Since it is so dangerous, why should I challenge it at night? It is also because the altitude of Bangda Town is too high and the oxygen content is low, which may not be conducive to my own sleep, and the conditions in the town are relatively limited, so I chose to go to the next stop, Basu County, which is more than 2,000 altitudes. Of course, for those who walk the Sichuan-Tibet line for the first time, it is very dangerous to challenge the 72 turns of the Nujiang River at night, so don’t be distracted! Moreover, the most tense and dangerous thing is actually the flying rock area behind (will be shared in detail later). Traveling is really more than just beautiful scenery. After all, challenges are more interesting, aren’t they?
