Birds love old forests, pond fish think about old abysses, people who live in the city should have a complex of mountains and rivers far away. The matter of going to Xinjiang has been brewing for two or three years, but during the period, there were either epidemics or floods. This summer, amidst the successive epidemics, I finally got my wish. The desire for the beauty of water, fertilizer, grass, and vast and spectacular scenery has been temporarily satisfied. Rigorous city travelers should be serious not only at work, but also during play, such as writing travel notes in time after the journey is over, so that when the ambition of play grows wild again and the reality cannot be satisfied immediately, you can dig it out again and again to satisfy your hunger.

travel notes

Day 1 Turpan

The Tianshan Mountains divide Xinjiang into two. It is said that the northern Xinjiang looks at the scenery, and the southern Xinjiang looks at the style, and our trip started from Turpan. The "Grape Valley" in the textbooks and the "Flame Mountain" in the Journey to the West left a deep imprint when I was a child. I don't know if this is also a kind of feeling?

 First stop: Karez

Karez well is an underground water conservancy irrigation system, and it is called the three major projects in ancient my country together with the Great Wall and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. In Turpan, the invention of Kanjing slowed down the evaporation of snow water in the Tianshan Mountains. It was a great pioneering work in the practice of working people in arid areas to utilize scarce water sources. The wisdom and ingenuity of the ancients is impressive.

   Second stop: Jiaohe Ancient City

Jiaohe Ancient City is the largest, oldest and best-preserved adobe city in the world, and it is also the most complete urban relic in my country for more than two thousand years. It is the capital of "Cheshiqian Country", one of the thirty-six countries in the Western Regions.

Afterwards, the tour guide also took us to the places to check in and commemorate: Sugong Pagoda and Junwang Mansion. The Sugong Pagoda was built by Suleiman, the son of Emin, the king of Turpan County in the Qing Dynasty. It is an Islamic tower with a novel architectural style.

Third stop: Flame Mountain

It is said that the temperature of Huoyan Mountain can melt plastic slippers. Fortunately, the day we visited was very cool, and we were lucky enough to witness a sandstorm.

Fourth stop: Grape Valley

Almost every family in Turpan grows grapes. The Grape Valley Scenic Area is just a miniature landscape, not a grape valley in the overall sense, and it cannot satisfy all our fantasies about grapes.

The one-day tour of Turpan was so rich that when the tour guide took people to visit the Thousand Buddha Caves, we went directly to eat melons, and the Uyghur home visit was also okay, if the raisin sales link was ignored.

Day 2 Urumqi Day Tour

Turpan's itinerary is relatively tight, and the next day I rested in Urumqi for a whole day, so that I can take the train to Beitun in the evening. Sleep late, get enough energy, ask the children for advice, and take a subway tour in Urumqi. In terms of in-depth experience of a city, it seems that post-10s are more professional.

First stop: Xinjiang University

As soon as the hotel leaves, there is the No. 54 bus, which can reach the University of Finance and Economics, the Botanical Garden, the Foreign Trade School and the Light Industry School. I am more interested in the half-day tour of colleges and universities, but I can’t help but be dragged by him to get off at the Railway Bureau Station and transfer. For the subway, I only went to Xinjiang University to have a look.

Second stop: Ming Garden

Mingyuan is a quiet residential area, which was built by Tong Mingliang in the Qing Dynasty, and later occupied by Sheng Shicai. After several changes, it has become the family courtyard of an oil company today. It is currently a cultural relic unit at the municipal level in Urumqi. The interior consists of two Soviet-style small buildings with a sense of age. Walking around inside, the greening rate is very high, and the winding path leads to seclusion, so I didn't take too many photos here.

Third stop: International Grand Bazaar

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is one of the must-see attractions in Urumqi. It is said that there are everything in it, except for parents, you can find everything. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, business was not booming as expected.

Day 3 - 5 Kanas - Hemu

On the night of July 21, I took the train from Urumqi and slept overnight to Beitun. The chartered car master picked us up and had a quick breakfast before heading to Kanas. Various landforms began to rotate along the way, especially the sunflower fields and winding roads along the way. An international river winding more than 500 kilometers - the Irtysh River.

Most of the rivers in China flow from west to east, but the Irtysh River is a rare one that flows from east to west. It is the only river in China that flows into the Arctic Ocean. The Irtysh River along the way is looming in the bushes not far from the road, and sometimes it is completely exposed to the field of vision. The emerald water flow makes the eyes super comfortable.

There are also seas of sunflowers along the way, which are blooming enthusiastically, declaring the beauty of midsummer. This kind of flower that rotates with the sun seems to tell us that if the heart is facing the sun, the breeze will come naturally.

First stop: Kanas Lake

Arrived at the wooden house in the Kanas scenic area around noon, the rain was over and the sky was sunny, and the small courtyards everywhere were super delicious.

The vegetation in the Kanas Lake Scenic Area is full of trees, with clear layers and a particularly wide field of vision. It is the kind of spotless beauty and magnificence. Compared with other beautiful places I have been to, this place is better.

When people swim in the middle of the lake, they can only see part of the scenery. They took a lot of photos, but they can't show the original flavor of what the eyes see.

After visiting Kanas Lake, return to the wooden house, take a short rest and start the photo mode, pastoral, what more can I ask for?

In the evening, we went to the house of the Tuva people as guests. The Tuva people are a branch of the Mongolian nationality, but they are not among our 56 ethnic groups. There are programs to watch and interactions. The two guys in front are super handsome. There is a hint of pride and joy in their temperament, but also a hint of restraint and sadness. The image is impeccable and unforgettable.

Second stop: Guanyu Terrace + Sanwan

In the morning of the next day, I took a shuttle bus from the 0 km of the G219 National Highway and boarded the Guanyutai overlooking Kanas Lake. The scenery is more vast and spectacular. I really want to stay there and never return to the bustling city. Or maybe people's genes are imbued with the memories of the beautiful life of the ancient ancestors who stood by the mountains and lived by the water. When they connect with them again, they will be very kind and attached.

Kanas Fish Watching Platform in the morning, and three bays of Kanas Lake in the afternoon: Shenxian Bay, Moon Bay and Wolong Bay.

Second stop: Hemu Village

Hemu is the concentrated residence of Tuva people, located on the banks of Kanas Lake in Burqin County, and is the farthest and largest of the only three remaining Tuva villages (Hemu Village, Kanas Village and Baihaba Village) , Known as "God's private land". In the past, cars could drive directly into the village, but now it takes an hour to get there by shuttle bus. The lush grass and water along the way are very eye-catching.

The scenery around Hemu is somewhat similar to Kanas, and it is also extremely beautiful. It is said that the scenery is picturesque, but in fact, no matter how wonderful the brush, no matter how rich the text, no matter how high-definition the camera is, it cannot reproduce the true beauty of nature. That kind of beauty is so refreshing that we can't bear to leave, but when the time comes, we still leave. At around 12:00 noon, I started to return to Beitun City. Due to mountain roads and other reasons, the speed limit was restricted throughout the journey. The police will patrol the road and encounter several such police cars along the way. The drivers follow behind obediently, and no one dares to speed. Thinking about it, I am quite moved. Isn’t this the parent officer? The police have seen too many car accidents. You may not listen to the safe speed regulation. What else can you do? Lead the way yourself, for your safety.

The third stop: colorful beach + Wulun Lake

On the way back, the driver took us to Wucai Beach and Wulun Lake. We have been to the colorful Danxia in Zhangye, and the Wucai Beach is much duller, and so is Wulun Lake.

Day 6 Dushanzi Day Tour

I took the train from Beitun on the evening of the 24th, arrived in Kuitun City the next morning, received a Buick GL8, washed up at the hotel, and started the first day of self-driving. The high school classmates who haven't seen each other for many years gave us warm hospitality, shared a lot of travel guides, and prepared melons, fruits and water for us along the way. Although the main purpose of travel is to see the scenery, if you can interact with relatives and friends along the way, it will be even better, and the travel will become more flesh and blood, full and full.

First stop: Dushanzi Grand Canyon

Dushanzi Grand Canyon is a magical canyon formed by the erosion of snow and water in the Tianshan Mountains for hundreds of millions of years. It is also worth seeing, but for colleagues who have been to Zhangye Pinghu Grand Canyon, this place is insignificant.

Second stop: Mud Volcano Distillation Kettle Ruins

An old classmate who has worked in Dushanzi for more than 10 years invited us to have a meal of authentic Xinjiang dishes and Dushanzi yogurt at the "Old Shopkeeper Luhua Chicken". In the evening, I went for a stroll around the nearby mud volcano.

Dushanzi is one of the birthplaces of China's oil industry, and its name comes from this mud volcano. Three million years ago, this mud volcano was at the peak of its activity, erupting continuously and piling up a mud mountain. Because the mountain is isolated from the Tianshan Mountains, the locals also call this area Dushanzi.

Day 7 Duku Highway

First stop: North section of Duku Highway

The Duku Highway is actually a national defense road connecting the northern and southern Xinjiang. It winds across the Tianshan Mountains, with ever-changing scenery along the way, and there is no toll for the whole journey. After Dushanzi entered the road, there were bare rocky mountains, and after a short period of time, there were earthy mountains with mixed rocks and streams. After turning over the highest point of Tianshan Mountain, we saw greenery all over the mountain. We drove for a day and walked for 4 hours. Go, stop, play.

Second stop: Qiao Erma

The total length of the Duku Highway is 562.25 kilometers, and it took 10 years to build it by a certain engineering department of the People's Liberation Army. Its connection has shortened the distance between the north and the south of Xinjiang by nearly half from the original 1,000 kilometers, which can be regarded as a monument in the history of China's highway construction. Back then, 168 road construction officers and soldiers sacrificed their precious lives to build this road, the youngest of whom was only a teenager. They were buried in the Qiaoerma Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery in Nilek County, Yili Prefecture, beside the 217 National Highway deep in the Tianshan Mountains.

Out of respect, we did not take pictures of the cemetery, we collectively bowed to the soldiers and left. Back in Zhengzhou, I specially watched the movie "Watching the Tianshan Mountains" to make up this lesson. From the movie, I learned that far more than the 168 soldiers in the martyrs cemetery died to build this road, it is said that there are more than 500 soldiers.

After coming out of Qiaoerma, it basically entered Yili Prefecture, and the Duku Highway became more green.

I stayed in Nalati Town at night. The name of the town is nice, but it is similar to the villages and towns in our inland provinces. The infrastructure is average, and the overall feeling is that the people are relatively simple. Many children run for their families during the summer vacation. Help make a living.

Day 7 Nalati Grassland

The Nalati Grassland is one of the four major grasslands in the world. It is a subalpine meadow plant area. It has been a famous pasture since ancient times. The interlaced rivers, flat valleys, high peaks, and dense forests complement each other. From June to September every year, All kinds of wild flowers on the grassland bloom all over the hills and grass slopes, and the red, yellow, blue and purple are colorful, embellishing the grassland gorgeously. The self-driving ticket of Nalati Scenic Area is 300. Since there is no advance reservation, I paid another 50 yuan scalper fee to get my wish. I drove to visit the three scenic spots of the air grassland, the river valley grassland and the Panlong grassland. It was a worthwhile trip.

Three women in one drama

The aerial grassland is exceptionally beautiful

Stayed at Turks Bagua City at night, went out for food after checking in at the inn, and drank a bowl of meatball soup.

Day 8 Turks Bagua City + Joan Kush Terrace

Tekes County is the seat of Wusun Kingdom, the largest ancient nomadic country in the Western Regions of China. It is the place with the most ancient tombs of Wusun in China and the only place in the world where Wusun culture and Yijing culture are intertwined. Bagua City was founded in 1937. It is a city without traffic lights. The street layout is like a magical maze.

First stop: Turks County

After completing the nucleic acid test at the Tekes County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the morning, I went to Qiongkushitai Village.

Second stop: Lavender along the way

Starting from Tekes County, the road is winding mountain road all the way. Although the scenery is good, there are too many S bays, which is not very comfortable. It is only by walking and stopping that the discomfort can be eliminated.

The third stop: Qiongkushitai Village

Qiongkushtai Village is a very old village, and the residents in the village are mainly Kazakhs. The village is surrounded by mountains, and the houses are built along the water. The drinking water and domestic water for people and animals in the village come from the Kurde River. The river valley is wide and the water flows continuously all year round. Most of the buildings in the village are wooden structures, which is a well-preserved wooden structure complex in the Yili River Valley, with high historical and cultural value.

Horses drinking water beside the Wusun Ancient Road

The horses in Qiongkushitai are called Tianma, handsome and burly, with pure color and luster, which can be "teng Kunlun, Lixiji". On horseback for more than an hour, the Wusun Ancient Road is sometimes rocky, sometimes muddy, uneven, but sitting on horseback is super stable, without bumps and waves, and I fell in love with these horses as soon as I rode.

In the evening, I had a big meal in the village and stayed at the homestay "Xixi's Home". The B&B is located at the bottom of the prairie basin, and the conditions are difficult. After nightfall, even though someone lit a bonfire, it was still super quiet. The air in the early morning was full of oxygen ions, and the view was very comfortable.

Day 9 Apricot Garden + Yili River Uighur Wedding

Early the next morning, we set off for Yining. Xinjiang is the hometown of melons and fruits. Due to the extremely long sunshine time, the melons and fruits are very sweet. In addition to tasting watermelon, cantaloupe and grapes along the way, we also went to the apricot orchard to pick dried apricots. It is said that it is very expensive in the mainland, and the little girl in the orchard sells it to us. 4 yuan a catty.

First stop: Apricot orchard picking

The second stop: Yili River Scenic Area

Arrived in Yining at noon. Due to the inconvenient transportation and washing in the remote mountain village, I suffered a bit of hard life. When I first saw the big city of Yining, I felt very comfortable, but this comfort was in the process of repeatedly looking for parking spaces. It was gone again. After washing and resting, around 7 o'clock, we set off to the Yili River Scenic Area, which was a bit similar to a certain embankment in the mainland where we walked after dinner.

Yili River

Yili River

There are disappointments and regrets in free travel, and there are always surprises. For example, in the Yili River Scenic Area, we met a group of young Uighurs who were dressed up for a wedding. According to them, when they get married, they will find an open place that does not disturb the people, sing and dance, then go to the hotel for dinner, and then sing and dance.

In the evening, I ate a crock pot at a small restaurant on Jiefang Road, and went to the underground pedestrian street to buy a pair of socks and shoes.

Day 10 Six Star Street + Kazanqi Old Town + Horgos Port

First stop: Six Star Street

Liuxing Street was built in the mid-1930s (1934-1936), planned and designed by German engineer Vasli. The plan of the block is circular, with six main roads radiating from the center, dividing the block into six fan-shaped areas. The center is public buildings such as schools, shops, and mosques, and the periphery is residential areas, forming a unique living pattern.

Six Star Street

There is a road coffee cart on Liuxing Street. When the accordion is played, the whole block is full of vigor and vitality. This kind of driving around, looking for a crowded place, stopping, playing the accordion, and selling coffee is really happy.

The second stop: Kazanqi Folk Custom Garden

Kazanqi Scenic Area is actually an old city with no walls or gates, where more than 100,000 people live. European-style buildings, buildings combining Chinese and Western styles, and century-old traditional houses are scattered in the streets and alleys, which are known as "folk house museums". During the more than 200 years of Kazanqi's gradual formation, the Uyghurs here mainly made a living by handicrafts. They cast pots, fetched buckets, built bag pits, made boxes, made leather shoes, and handmade saddles needed by Kazakhs. Today, some Uighurs here still inherit their ancestral business and use it as a means of living. This kind of ancient, simple and original ecology is still part of the way of life of the people of Kazan, and it is also a rare quiet place preserved by humans in the city in the post-industrial era.

It took 60 yuan to take a half-day tour in a sightseeing car, visited the houses, tasted ice cream, and visited the Uzbek Cultural Compound.

Third stop: Khorgos Port

To catch up with the August 1st Army Day, the port was temporarily closed, and only punched in at the gate as a souvenir. After nucleic acid, I went to the China-Kazakhstan Cooperative for a stroll and bought some cosmetics in the duty-free shop. Visible business has withered. In the past two years, due to the epidemic, many shopkeepers have closed their doors and returned to their hometowns.

port gate

I regretted leaving the Khorgos port, and set off to Huocheng to see the lavender farm. Unfortunately, at this time, the lavender was gone. Drive directly to the yurt accommodation near Sailimu Lake Scenic Area.

Day 11 Guozigou Bridge + return to Urumqi

On the last day of the itinerary, Sailimu Lake was planned. After arriving at the yurt where I stayed, I realized that because of the competition, the south gate was closed, and I had to go around 40 kilometers to enter from the east gate. I got up early the next day, but the intersection out of Yining was stopped by the police, saying that the epidemic affected the car in the direction of Yining and was not allowed to enter Sailimu Lake. In this case, we acted decisively, canceled the itinerary on the last day, returned the car to Urumqi instead, and rebooked the ticket to return one day earlier.

Although the speed of self-driving is not fast, many scenery flashed by. This picture was taken half an hour before raising the camera in advance.

It was still early when we arrived in Urumqi, so we found a Tuokesun noodle shop, bought some specialty products, and set off on our way back.

The itinerary on the 11th is over, leaving some regrets and longings, leaving enough excuses for the next trip to Xinjiang.

spend

Xinjiang has high sky, long roads and beautiful scenery. The cost of this trip was mainly spent on transportation. On the basis of being able to train and not fly, the family of three spent 9674, followed by food and drink 3093, accommodation was 2523, tickets were about 2659, daily necessities 1171, The Nas-Hemu tour fee is 7592. It's close to 30,000 yuan per lap, 10,000 yuan per person, and the cost is not too high.

postscript

 1. About the epidemic: Affected by the epidemic in the past few years, going out to play is a risky pleasure. Whether it is an epidemic in your departure place or destination, there is a risk of being stranded. This year is basically smooth, and you can do it every two days Nucleic acid will do. Only the itinerary on the last day was slightly affected. Due to the positive cases in Yili, the trip to Sailimu Lake did not take place. We changed the return location, rebooked the ticket in advance, and boarded the return train smoothly.

2. Regarding safety: I remember that when I passed by the Altun Mountain in Xinjiang in 2018, I had to get off the car for security checks. The police were armed with live ammunition, and ID card face recognition was very strict. Now Xinjiang has lost the situation at that time. Instead, there are alarm points everywhere. Whether it is in Turpan, Turkes or Yining, if you encounter a situation, call the police and the police will arrive within 20 minutes. .

I also learned a lot of information that I didn't know from chatting with taxi drivers, tour guides and friends. In the past five years, great changes have taken place in Xinjiang. In addition to the armed police officers and soldiers, employees of enterprises and institutions also provide point-to-point assistance to security today, making great contributions.

3. Regarding travel:

Seeing the sky, seeing the earth, and seeing the scenery are the core components of travel, while seeing people, seeing the world, and seeing the truth are the soul and blood of travel, and these together constitute a person's knowledge.

We live in a corner, and rarely receive the truth from afar. If you don’t go to Xinjiang, you won’t experience the fact that it gets dark at 11 o’clock every night, and you won’t feel the 14 hours of light during the day. In the minds of most of us, the 56 ethnic groups are one family, but in fact many ethnic groups have their own languages, cultures, customs, and past pride. Under the washing and baptism of the vicissitudes of life, there is always a little bit of unwillingness to arrange their fate. It is not as harmonious as imagined with the Han nationality. We often say that the mountains are high and the emperor is far away. When we arrive in Xinjiang, we will change this thinking. The political atmosphere there is even stronger than that in the mainland.

When you travel, you can get closer to these truths by talking to taxi drivers, local relatives and friends, and even your roommates in bunk beds.

We can always find some people and things that change our inherent ideas. The greatest people in the human community may be those ordinary people who do not fight or grab, and abide by social customs and regulations, rather than those who can wield guns and clubs, turn clouds and seas, and dodge and move. Those who desire less will always be more generous and loving.

During this trip, I came into contact with kind-hearted locals, talkative retired old policemen, child laborers who helped out in the shop before and after running, and what moved me the most was a flight attendant on the K1358 train in charge of the Shanghai Railway Bureau. On the train, due to our own reasons, we caused a lot of trouble to an old couple in the lower berth. In the middle of the night, the flight attendant was busy for more than an hour.

What moved me was not his ability to solve problems, but his skillful and quick movements of tidying up the bedding, and his seriousness in working hard. I wanted to add WeChat to express my gratitude, even if I wrote a letter of commendation, but was flatly rejected, which made me think that he has regarded solving customers' troubles as his own responsibility. A person of this thickness really should have a higher platform to display his energy. He may not necessarily be the boss's favorite, but he is definitely the common people's favorite. I hope that all the explicit/hidden rules of society can meet the real needs of human beings.

If you see sincerity and kindness, you will stick to the bottom line more; if you see selfishness and meanness, you will learn to protect yourself. In the end, people with insight will become soft and flexible individuals. After walking enough roads and seeing enough scenery, there will be no roads that must be walked, and no scenery that must be seen. Alone, you can also play with a group of people. Harmonious but different, you can stand in any corner of the world self-sufficiently and stubbornly.

4. Small regrets: During this trip, Horgos Port and Sailimu Lake, as well as Huocheng Lavender, S101 Highway, and Urumqi Museum were all missed for various reasons. It's a small regret, but it's not really a big deal. As long as you fully immerse yourself in every moment of the trip and capture the small fortunes of the moment, it is considered complete, and there is no regret.
