Langde Shangzhai is very close to Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang, both in Leishan County in Southeast Guizhou. It only takes 40 minutes to drive from Qianhu Miao Village. This is one of the must-see attractions in Southeast Guizhou.

Langde Shangzhai is the hometown of Chinese folk song and dance art, one hundred open-air museums across the country and the hometown of Lusheng. The local Miao people mainly wear long skirts, also known as "long skirt Miao".

Langde Miao Village is divided into upper village and lower village. Only Langde Shangzhai is open to the outside world. This village has only a hundred families. It was built in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasties, with a history of more than 670 years.

Langde Shangzhai is surrounded by mountains on all sides. There is a stream in front of the village that flows into the Danjiang River, and there are stone mill houses and waterwheels along the stream. The stockade is built on the mountain, all of which are wooden structures on stilts. There are five roads leading to the middle of the stockade, and there are gates in the east, west and north.

There are bullfights, horse races, cockfights, bronze drum dancing, and reed stepping activities on holidays.

We came to Langde Shangzhai in the afternoon, just in time for the Twelve Gates of Wine. Miao men and women dressed in costumes welcomed us. They played Lusheng, sang toast songs, and enthusiastically presented homemade rice wine. Guests who come from afar need to drink the gate wine to enter the gate of the village. You must drink at least three doses of gate wine, and you can drink twelve doses if you have a good capacity for alcohol.

There are wonderful Miao song and dance performances in Tongguping. The whole village, men, women and children, take part in the battle. First, there is a cheerful Miao dance, and then there are performances such as reed dance, bronze drum dance, and bench dance.

I was deeply impressed by the performance of the Eight Carrying Lusheng Dance. An old man of the Miao nationality was blowing a huge reed, and others were dancing with the reed. The visual shock was very strong.

In the past few days in Qiandongnan, I watched a few Miao singing and dancing performances. I especially like watching the golden pheasant dance. The Miao women dance very beautifully when they shake their heads and tails. If I dance, I look like an old hen, hahaha!

While watching the Miao song and dance performance, the Miao old people sitting next to them wore gorgeous silver crowns on their heads, which was different from what I saw in Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang. They were conversing intently.

There is also a beautiful Miao woman sitting next to her. She turned out to be the actor who led the dance just now. I really like her golden pheasant dance.

The Miao woman who had just finished the performance took her child home, holding a small sign in her hand, saying that the scoreboard was used to settle wages. The Miao songs and dances we watched just now were performed by local villagers. There are 5-10 yuan per person per show, and there are two performances per day, and the monthly income is only about 300-600 yuan, which is shockingly low!

After watching the song and dance performance, you can go to the Diaojiaolou, Lusheng Hall, and Fengyu Bridge. After passing the Fengyu Bridge, you will come to the terrace on the opposite bank. There are golden rice next to it. This is also the best photo spot.

Langde Shangzhai is the hometown of Yang Dalu, the leader of the Miao uprising. Yang Dalu’s former residence is his old house. Here you can see his life and recall this brave hero.

I like to walk in the village and see the life of the local Miao people. The men sit around and play cards, the elderly and children bask in the sun. Their lives are leisurely and peaceful without too many troubles and disputes. I really want to live here for a long time.

People in the stockade will sell you handicrafts such as Miao embroidery and batik, and you can buy them if you like them. In addition, in Langde, you can also rent the costumes of Miao girls and take a group of beautiful photos.
