The only major scenic spot in Korla worth visiting, "Iron Gate Gate", is located 8 kilometers away from the northern suburbs, at the exit of the steep canyon in the upper reaches of the famous "Kongque River" in the urban area. There is no bus to take from the urban area to the Tiemenguan scenic spot, only self-driving or taxi, I took a Didi car to get there. Tiemenguan, one of the twenty-six famous checkpoints in ancient China, was set up here as early as the Jin Dynasty. It used to be the main road of transportation between the north and the south, and the throat of the ancient silk road. Because of its dangerous location, it was called "Iron Gate Pass". Interestingly, this is the dividing line between northern and southern Xinjiang, where both the region and the climate are divided. Walking into the iron gate gate tower, there are inscriptions left by ancient celebrities beside the cliff. The most famous one is the majestic seven-character verse left by Cen Shen, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. On the cliff stone next to the city tower, there are four large official script characters "Jinshan Daihe", which has always been a battleground for military strategists. Visiting here, you can see the strong ancient customs everywhere.
Tiemenguan Ancient Silk Road is located in the towering Kuruktag mountains with strange rocks. In a 30-kilometer-long canyon, a trail extends deep outwards. The canyon is deep and tortuous, and the cliffs on both sides are like knives and axes. Walking on this ancient road with a history of more than 2,000 years, Feng Xiaoxiao seems to be listening to the stories of Zhang Qian's mission to the Western Regions in the Western Han Dynasty, Ban Chao drinking horses in the Kongque River, and the stories of the heroes of the predecessors. On the other side, the Kongque River is flowing quietly, and the mountains and fields in the autumn scenery are full of beauty.
Get out of the Tiemenguan Tower, walk through a residential area of the Tiemenguan Hydropower Station, and you will arrive at a hill with more than 1,000 steps. There is a row of apricot groves at the entrance. Under the warm sunlight in late autumn, the golden color is very beautiful. Climbing the steep steps is a test of a person's physical strength and endurance. There is a beautiful legend about "Tail and Zhuohela" on this mountain named "Princess Tomb". Zhuohela, the princess of King Yanqi in the ancient Western Regions, and the shepherd Taier really fell in love with each other, but when the king found out, he sent someone to chase and kill the shepherd. When the princess heard that she came to save her on horseback, a pair of lovers fell off the cliff. Stories are made up by people, they are the same, just listen to them. Climb to the top and look back at the iron gate in the canyon. The terrain is really steep, and one man guards the gate.
On the other side of the mountain is the Tiemenguan Reservoir and Power Station, which were built in the 1950s under the leadership of General Wang Zhen, commander-in-chief of the Xinjiang Construction Corps. On the way down the mountain, the scenery of Tianshan Mountain along the way is fully revealed, which is very distinctive.
"Longshan Park" in Korla City is already full of autumn colors.
