Shanxi Province, next door to Henan Province. Because I personally work in Zhengzhou, I took my family to visit the aboveground culture of Shanxi during the summer vacation.

I have been thinking about going to Shanxi for two years, but I couldn't make the trip last year due to the impact of the epidemic. Because the cultural relics on the ground look at Shanxi, and I followed what my daughter said. Most of our trip to Shanxi this time saw places related to temples and Buddhas, which seems to be right. But in any case, since I decided to go to Shanxi, I spent an afternoon doing a simple map guide. Enter from the southeast corner of Shanxi, go to the northernmost Datong, return from Datong, go to Yuncheng and return to Zhengzhou from Sanmenxia, Henan. (Maps and tours have some itineraries on Car Vieja.)

first day:

Starting from Zhengzhou, go all the way to the northwest, enter Jincheng in Henan, and then go to the first stop - the ancient city of Pingyao. Driving on this road, some high-speed sections are only 70-80 yards, don't drive fast, there are many mountain roads. I went out at 8 o'clock in the morning, drove all the way for almost 4 hours, and finally came to the ancient city of Pingyao from Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan. This is the place I've always wanted to come!

Fortunately, there are many homestays in the ancient city. As long as you book in advance, you can go to the entrance of the ancient city, and the owner of the homestay will drive a car to pick you up into the city. Tickets are not required to enter the city, but there are more than a dozen other small attractions in the ancient city that require tickets. And this time, with our ID card from Zhejiang Province, most of the scenic spots along the way are free of charge. It is said that Shanxi gave discounts to the three provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. This saved more than half of our ticket money, which is great.

Although Pingyao City is not big, it still has a long history. You can also try various snacks.

the next day:

Since we arrived on Monday, the Pingyao Theater we wanted to see was not open on Monday, so we waited until 2 pm the next day. Just in time, our family visited all the small attractions in the ancient city on Tuesday morning.

After watching "Meet Pingyao Again", with a shocked mood, I continued to drive to the next stop, Qiao's Courtyard. The owner of the homestay said that the Qiao Family Courtyard is not as big and beautiful as the Wang Family Courtyard, and the Wang Family Courtyard is in the south, far from Zhengzhou. If you think about it, let’s talk about it when we return to the city. So simply, continue to drive, want to spend a day to play Wutaishan attractions. It's a pity that the sky is not beautiful. It is said that it rains and mudslides occur in Wutai Mountain, so tourists are not allowed to enter. So halfway turned to Yanmen Pass in Daixian County. Because the poem has Yunyanmen Pass, it is also good to take children for a stroll. After we checked into the hotel near Yanmen Pass, we ate the local spicy rabbit head, which was really good.

third day:

Thinking of going to Yanmen Pass, the front desk of the hotel informed that Yanmen Pass was also unable to enter because of the rain some time ago. So, really helpless, we drove to the next point, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda!

Looking at this ancient wooden tower, it was built without a single nail, and it is indeed exquisite in craftsmanship. The birds near the wooden tower are said to have no toes and cannot walk on the ground, so there are many black birds staying on the wooden tower. I won’t say what the specific name is.

After seeing the wooden pagoda, we drove to Beiyue Hengshan again!

The Hanging Temple in Hengshan is something I have always wanted to visit. No matter from a distance or up close, it is so shocking. Imagine what kind of people and what kind of technology they used to build such a hanging temple? There are also many large and small Buddha statues in the temple, so visit them one by one.

On this day, we drove to Datong that night. Stay in the ancient city of Datong. Why there are so many ancient cities in Shanxi, it seems that the protection is very good!

fourth day:

In the morning, as soon as the sun rose, we walked from the hotel to the Nine Dragon Wall in the ancient city of Datong with a happy mood.

Of course, there are two temples near the Nine Dragon Wall in Datong, such as Huayan Temple, which are very famous. Better to keep walking.

After the visit to Huayan Temple, the next stop is the Yungang Grottoes, the most desirable place for this self-driving tour.

I have seen the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang. The styles of the two grottoes are different. Of course, the introduction said that the stone quality is also different. Big and small Buddha statues, how pious the people at that time were.

On the day when Yungang Grottoes ended, there was heavy rain. The current is turbulent, and it is all over the road. Fortunately, it didn't last long. Shanxi has mountains, waters, temples, and ancient cities. The introduction at the hotel front desk said that there are soil forests, and tickets are 50 per person. This is also the first time that this trip to Shanxi has paid for tickets. The earth forest should be in the evening, when the sun goes down, the viewing will be perfect. Because this is the place to shoot the punch card. And we went in the morning.

After visiting the Datong soil forest, it is time to return to the northernmost tip of Shanxi and go south. We followed the direction of Yanmen Pass, bypassed Yanmen Pass all the way, and arrived in Taiyuan. Taiyuan also has an ancient city, which is still newly built. Therefore, we continued to stay near the ancient county town of Taiyuan, arriving at around 7 o'clock that night. After simple formalities, walk for more than 10 minutes and enter the ancient city. The ancient city was refurbished and built, and other things are not listed, just remember one food, which is not bad-Yingpan Feichang Noodles. Ha ha……

fifth day:

In the morning, we chose the next attraction - Mengshan Giant Buddha. The Giant Buddha is 8 meters shorter than the Leshan Giant Buddha and is carved on the mountain.

It only took 2 hours to see the Big Buddha. The Jinci Temple in Taiyuan is the point in our plan. There are three treasures and three plaques in the Jinci Temple. Please explain and understand them one by one. atmosphere!

There is plenty of time in the afternoon, and the Wang Family Courtyard mentioned by the owner of the Pingyao B&B has been included in our itinerary.

Panorama of Wang Family Courtyard

The Wang family has power and money, but the management of the compound still needs to be improved. The explanation is very sufficient, but the humanized management is slightly less. But this does not affect us to continue the next section of self-driving tour - Hongdong big locust tree.

The big locust tree is the root. How many families went out from here in the past, scattered leaves all over the country one by one, and developed the great Chinese nation. Root-seeking is also a good education. For kids and for adults, both! That night, we drove to the shocking flowing water.

Day Six:

From Dahuaishu, we drove all the way to Hukou Waterfall, where we planned to go the next day. This is also the last point of our itinerary planning for this self-driving tour. That night, we didn't look carefully at the hotel we booked on Ctrip. It turned out to be a hotel in Shaanxi! Because of the Hukou Waterfall, one side is Shaanxi and the other is Shanxi. This does not affect our itinerary. The next morning, I returned to Hukou Waterfall in Shanxi, because Shanxi is free of tickets to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, but Shaanxi is not free of tickets.

Looking at this wild wave is an attitude. It is Huang He's unyielding attitude! Great China stretching for 5,000 years, this galloping Yellow River, witnesses!

Finally, here is a picture. From Hukou, I drove all the way to Yuncheng. I thought Yuncheng could see the scene of Guan Gong and Sunyan. But it looked like it was still a temple, so the child decided to go back to Zhengzhou! So, the family took turns to drive, and ended our 6-day trip to Shanxi to visit cultural relics on the ground.

The itinerary of the self-driving tour is simple, and the expression is like a narrative. But, in any case, I hope to give the judges some useful places.
