Mount Qomolangma, which means the third goddess in Tibetan, is located on the border between China and Nepal in Tingri, Shigatse, Tibet, with an altitude of 8844.43 meters (the latest measured height is 8848.86 meters). It is the main peak of the Himalayas and the highest peak in the world. There are 4 peaks above 8,000 meters around Mount Everest, and more than 40 peaks above 7,000 meters. It is a well-deserved third pole of the earth.

Mount Everest Base Camp is a protective zone set up to protect the core area of Mount Everest. It is 5,200 meters above sea level. This is the best place to see the top of the world at close range. It is also the starting point and base camp for many climbers to conquer Mount Everest from the northern line. It is also the closest point for those of us who have not received any professional training in mountaineering to watch Mount Everest in Mount Everest National Park.

On June 23rd, this day is a great challenge and severe test for my life, and it is also the fulfillment of a big dream in life. A group of 4 of us started from Shantou City, Guangdong Province by car on June 4th. After a long journey of more than 5,000 kilometers, today we finally have to drive the car to the third pole of the earth and the highest peak in the world—the foot of Mount Everest, and to Mount Everest National Park Go to Everest Base Camp.

Departing from Baiba Town, Tingri County in the morning, we arrived at the checkpoint within a short distance, where we had to get off the car to check ID cards and border defense certificates. Go on to the gate of Mount Everest National Park and buy park tickets here. A car costs 400 yuan (including a driver), and 90 yuan per person for others. You must also keep a copy of the driver's ID card, driver's license, and car driving license. There are obvious signs at the gate of the park, and you can take pictures as a souvenir.

After entering Mount Everest National Park and walking for a short distance, you will pass the Gawula Mountain Pass Observation Deck at an altitude of 5198 meters. Standing on the observation deck, you can not only overlook Mount Everest, but also three other peaks, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu, which are above 8,000 meters above sea level. At the same pass, you can see four extremely high peaks above 8,000 meters, which is unique among the passes crossed by the 318 National Highway Sichuan-Tibet Line and even all the roads in the world. The weather is good in the morning, and you can clearly see Mount Everest and the other 3 extreme peaks here. When I stood on the viewing platform of Gawula Pass and overlooked Mount Everest, my heart was shaken. The top of the world, the third goddess - Mount Everest, here we come! ! !

Continue to move forward, driving the car on the winding mountain road at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters. To climb countless steep slopes, through countless sharp turns, it is said that there are 108 turns. Fortunately, the more than 110 kilometers of mountain roads from Tingri Baiba to Mount Everest Base Camp have all been repaired in the previous stage, and some of the winding mountain roads have just been repaired recently. Although the road is not wide, it is smooth, and the sightlines are generally better at sharp turns. There were not many vehicles on that day, and the driving feeling was good. In the past, it was full of bumpy, potholed dirt roads and washboard roads, which were extremely bumpy. "My eyes are in heaven, but my body is in hell." It takes at least 5 or 6 hours to walk on a mountain road of more than 100 kilometers. Now the road is good. It can be reached in less than 3 hours.

We are approaching the Everest base camp. At the border armed police checkpoint at the foot of Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, we checked our ID cards and border defense certificates again. After that, we finally drove the car into the Everest base camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters. What an exciting time this is! It is really not easy and not easy to come to Mount Everest after going through untold hardships and overcoming many difficulties. Joy, excitement, and pride hung on everyone's faces. Although this is the place that everyone who loves to travel most yearns for in their lives, due to many factors, it was something that they didn't even dare to dream about before. Scenes that can only be seen in film and television and in the media. The excitement is beyond words. Although the weather conditions are only average and have a great impact on the landscape, everything that comes into view is still very shocking.

After a short rest, we came to the viewing platform of Mount Everest. There is a stone tablet here, engraved with "Mount Everest Base Camp, 5200 meters above sea level". Here, everyone looks up at the third pole of the earth with reverence, and let everything in front of them be a baptism for their souls. Just like this, while staring at Mount Everest not far away, while taking pictures, witnessing and commemorating the highest altitude of life. The weather on the plateau is changing rapidly. Originally, the weather in the morning was not bad, but when we arrived at the Mount Everest base camp at noon, the weather had already turned bad, and the clouds covered the part of Mount Everest. When you can watch Mount Everest at close range, but you can't see the entire face of Mount Everest clearly, what regrets you will leave!

Go further from the 5200-meter-high monument of Mount Everest Base Camp to reach the Mount Everest Altitude Measurement Monument. This is the closest place for tourists to reach Mount Everest. It is said that people who need to hold a mountain pass will go further allowed. Although the distance is not very far, it is still a bit tiring to walk at such a high altitude. We walked over slowly, but fortunately, the wind was not too strong (it is often windy here), and the temperature was not very low (about 5 or 6 degrees), so we didn't feel very cold. I took another photo at the Mount Everest Elevation Measurement Monument, and looked at the Rongbuk Glacier, which is also not easy for ordinary tourists to see (it was once rated as the first of the six most beautiful glaciers in China by China National Geography), and then slowly Go back, come to the base camp, and visit the tent hotels built by Tibetans, stalls selling local products and the post office on Mount Everest, the highest in the world. It is in such a place where there is no green, the air is thin, and it is almost primitive, that you can feel the greatness of nature and the insignificance of human beings most deeply. We stayed at Everest Base Camp for more than two hours.

So far, the biggest highlight of this self-driving tour on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the most memorable one-day tour to Mount Everest Base Camp has come to an end. Fortunately, the four of us were full of energy and in good condition; it was a pity that when we arrived at the Everest Base Camp, the weather was mediocre and affected the landscape. Staying at such a high altitude for such a long time without any discomfort, watching Mount Everest up close, witnessing the highest altitude in life, and feeling the unpredictable climate in the Everest area, all of this is very good Rare and precious! Although it is hard work, it is very worthwhile. I am very contented and grateful to have such a rare experience and experience in my life!

tips

1. To go to the base camp of Mount Everest, you need to apply for a border defense certificate. It can be done at the place where the registered permanent residence is located, or it can be done by entrusting a travel agency in Lhasa or Shigatse. When applying for the certificate, the destination must be stated as Shigatse area, Tingri County, and Mount Everest area.

2. The weather in the Everest base camp area is unpredictable, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is huge. No matter when you go, remember to bring enough warm clothes. If you want to stay overnight in the base camp, you should pay more attention to this point, and don't catch a cold or catch a cold.

3. The altitude of the Mount Everest area is very high, and the altitude of the base camp is 5,200 meters, which is almost close to the limit for ordinary tourists and other untrained mountaineers. Therefore, we need to pay special attention to prevent altitude sickness, walk slowly, and never run, jump and other strenuous exercise.

4. According to reports, in order to protect the ecological environment of the Mount Everest area, the original Mount Everest Base Camp has been permanently closed since the end of 2018. Now the base camp that tourists can go to has retreated a lot, especially since it is no longer allowed to drive by car. Tourists need to buy tickets at the entrance of Mount Everest National Park in exchange for taking the park's eco-car to enter.

5. If the weather conditions are good, especially if the body is well adapted, it is recommended to stay at the Everest Base Camp for one night. Although the hardware conditions there are relatively difficult, the sights in the evening and early morning will definitely make you feel very worthwhile. At that time, because of the high altitude of the base camp, we were afraid that we would not be able to adapt to it if we stayed for a long time. We did not dare to arrange to stay there for one night. We missed a lot and left great regrets.

6. To go to the Everest base camp, you can also choose to live in Baiba Town, Tingri County, which is only more than 100 kilometers away from the Everest base camp, and the altitude is 4,400 meters. Although it is only a small town, it is like a transit station for many tourists going to the Everest base camp. It has food, accommodation and is quite convenient.
