"Mount Everest" is a familiar and attractive name to people all over the world. Every year, how many people dream of coming to her side, and I am one of them. Mount Everest is 8,848 meters above sea level. It is the main peak of the Himalayas. Mount Everest is located on the Sino-Nepal border, the north is in Tingri County, Tibet, China, and the south is in Nepal. In Tibetan, "Qomolangma" means goddess, and "Langma" means third, because there are four other peaks around Mount Everest, which ranks third according to the order of arrangement, so it is called Mount Everest. Mount Everest is in the shape of a giant pyramid, majestic and majestic, and the highest peak is located in China. Mount Everest is also translated as "Mountain Mount". Nepal calls it "Sagarmatha Peak", also known as "Effiles Peak".
The day before the National Day, September 30, 2019, is a day worth remembering for a lifetime. On this day, I set off from Saga County, which is located in the northern part of Shigatse and in the north of the Himalayas, to the long-awaited holy place in my heart--Mount Everest. The average altitude of Saga County is above 4,600 meters, with obvious plateau scenery and landforms. In the early morning, the car drove out of Jiajia Town, where the county seat is located. Not only was the weather exceptionally sunny, but also the infinite scenery along the way reappeared. It took more than two hours to drive to Mount Everest National Nature Reserve. There is a viewing platform here. Nearby is the largest lake in Shigatse, "Pegutso Lake". The sapphire blue lake is shining in the sunlight. Lake Pegutso has a very nice name "a blue tear lost on the plateau". In the distance is the snow-capped, majestic "Shishapangma Peak", with an altitude of 8,021 meters. It is the only 8,000-meter-level mountain completely in China. It is also one of the famous peaks in the Himalayas. Only 120 kilometers. When I arrived, it was just in time for Mount Shishapangma to show her most beautiful moment. The shape of multi-water chestnut cross-section looks like an upside-down silver tripod. And went.
"Mount Everest" is located in Tingri County, which is under the jurisdiction of Shigatse. Lunch is done in a small town in Tingri County. There are many Sichuan restaurants along the road to Mount Everest, so it is very convenient to eat. After passing Tingri County, Mount Everest is beckoning. The mountains in this area are different from those in Ngari. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau’s folded mountains are full of roughness and wildness. Nearly 100 kilometers away from Mount Everest Base Camp, there is a gate with the words "Mount Everest National Park". After entering the gate, the car entered the winding mountain road in the scenic area, which basically went up in a zigzag around the mountain road. It didn't take long to reach the first mountain pass "Gawula Pass", which is 5198 meters above sea level. It is the only one in the world where you can see four 8000-meter-high mountains. It is known as the most beautiful snow mountain viewing platform in China. Standing on the viewing platform, four 8,000-meter snow-capped mountains line up in the distance and beckon to you. From left to right: Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Cho Oyu. Going down from the Jiawula Pass, the road is winding and winding. I don't know how many turns and twists and turns, the winding road to heaven is quite spectacular. Later, I learned that there are 108 bends in total, called the 108 turns of Mount Everest Road, which are basically sharp turns.
After descending from the Jiawula Pass, passing through the 108th turn of Mount Everest, we passed the "Qudang Township" soon, and then entered the "Mount Everest Base Camp" in the Karma Valley. There is a checkpoint a few kilometers before arriving at Dongpo Base Camp. All foreign vehicles must park in the parking lot in front of the checkpoint. Personnel buy tickets and switch to environmental protection buses to enter the base camp.
Before departure, I received a message that from February 15, 2019, all tourists who arrive at Mount Everest will stop at the area below Rongbuk Monastery, in order to protect the local environment. After seeing this news, I was very disappointed, but it was unexpected when I arrived at the scene. When the car approached a corner of the base camp, the eyes suddenly lit up, and the majestic Mount Everest stood in front of us. The whole car cheered, Goddess of Mount Everest, we finally see you. God is taking care of me very much today, and the goddess is also taking care of me. In the azure blue sky, white floating clouds are wrapped around the goddess, as if separated.
Stayed in a tent at the base camp, and then moved along the highway to Mount Everest, not limited to the area under the Rongbuk Monastery and the base camp as imagined. Dongpo Base Camp is located in Garmagou, Qudang Township, south of Rongbuk Monastery, with an altitude of about 5,200 meters and a straight-line distance of 19 kilometers from Mount Everest. The monument stands 4 kilometers south of the Everest Base Camp, and it needs to be reached by environmental protection vehicle or on foot. I didn't see any traffic when I arrived, only people on foot. This is the first time in my life that I have walked on the highest altitude. I obviously felt a little hypoxic, so I had to hold back my excitement, slow down and walk as far as possible to the front of the mountain, and look up at the goddess of Mount Everest up close. It was evening at this time, and because of the high altitude, the sun was still shining on Mount Everest. The shape of the mountain and the shape of the snow peak of the Goddess of Mount Everest are clearly revealed, presenting her most beautiful side in front of me.
Unknowingly, time is quietly moving forward, the sun has begun to set, and the light is constantly moving. At this moment, the goddess of Mount Everest exudes more and more charming charm. The wind in the high mountains is getting stronger and stronger, the temperature is gradually dropping, and people start to move their feet down the mountain. There is a small hill on the side of Rongbuk Monastery, which is the best place to take pictures of Jinshan in the sunset. When I arrived, there were a large number of photography enthusiasts who took up the camera positions, and they were waiting early with long guns and short cannons. The foreground is the Rongbuk Monastery, and the back is Mount Everest, which is really the best choice.
The most beautiful moment is also the shortest. Under the setting sun, the face of the goddess of Mount Everest gradually transitions from gray-white to gray-red until the moment before the curtain call. At this moment, the goddess is so quiet, so gentle, and so charming. They don't know how terrifying the goddess of Mount Everest is when she unleashes her power. Strong winds, avalanches, landslides, rockfalls, etc., make many climbers fall under her feet. The beauty and fear of the goddess is her greatest charm, she is the most sacred, because it is the closest to the sky, as the famous British explorer Mallory said: the mountain is there.
The tent in the Everest Base Camp costs 100 yuan per bed, and the sanitary conditions needless to say. Fortunately, I bring my own sleeping bag. There are two car toilets outside, with mixed flavors. How to spend a night on Mount Everest is a big problem for more than 90% of people, lack of oxygen, cold, headache, dyspnea and other altitude sickness. After all, being in the alpine region at an altitude of 5,200 meters was a great test for me. Fortunately, I survived, but it was difficult to fall asleep at night due to lack of oxygen in the brain. It will help to put pillows up high. The weather on the plateau is ever-changing. It is convenient to go outdoors in the early morning, and the sky is full of stars when you look up. After returning to the tent and getting into the sleeping bag, I was still looking forward to getting up tomorrow morning to take a beautiful photo of the sunrise of Mount Everest. When I got up early the next morning and looked at it, my heart was half cold. There was a dark cloud, and the visibility was less than tens of meters, and Mount Everest was gone. Early in the morning, tourists walked in twos and threes along the road at the entrance of Rongbuk Monastery towards Mount Everest. On the mountain above, there are still many enthusiasts setting up their camera positions in the cold, patiently waiting for a miracle to appear. Their persistence, perseverance, and pursuit of spirit are worthy of praise. Back in the tent, I had the most expensive breakfast I’ve ever had in my life. A bowl of porridge and a thin barley cake cost 25 yuan, so I had to accept it in order to keep warm and satisfy my hunger so I could go down the mountain.
It has been my wish for many years to meet you on Mount Everest, and today my wish finally came true. And today is the 70th anniversary of the motherland's birthday. What a commemorative day, I will always remember today as before. Goodbye, Everest. Thank God, let me have a wonderful date with her.
