To the west of Tibet, there is a place called Ngari, which is the most mysterious and desirable place in Tibet. Known as the "roof of the world". In Ali, there is no boundary between heaven and earth, no boundary between ancient and modern, the endless blue stretches from ancient times, and time flows so invisible.

Sering Co is one of the two ghost lakes in Ngari, Tibet, also known as Qilin Lake. It is the second largest lake in Tibet after Nam Co.

Locals have several theories about why it is a ghost lake. One is because more than 40 people died walking on the frozen lake and fell into the ice cave; the other is the Tibetan hero King Gesar, who fought against the demon king Dui Aqiong in order to avenge his wife. Dui Aqiong was a drunkard by nature, and before he died, he asked King Gesar to throw his head into Sering Co, so that he could drink enough water forever. King Gesar cut off Ajiong's head and threw it into Selincuo to let him continue to drink water. From then on, the lake was never full even though several big rivers flowed in.

Selin Co is the area with the most rare and endangered species in the plateau alpine grassland ecosystem, and it is the largest nature reserve for black-necked cranes in the world. In 1985, Sering Co Lake was listed as a Tibet Autonomous Region-level protected area, and in 2003 it was promoted to a national-level nature reserve. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the Selin Co watershed has a vast lake basin and lush water and grass. It is one of the important animal husbandry bases in northern Tibet, and it is also part of the Shenzha Wetland Nature Reserve that protects the ecosystem of black-necked cranes and their breeding areas.

Sering Co is a kingdom of lakes. There are 23 satellite lakes around it, winding like emerald necklaces. It is said that millions of years ago, it was a huge lake as a whole. Among the numerous satellite lakes, Bird Island of Co'e Lake has become the second base of migratory birds. Every spring and summer, tens of thousands of Mediterranean brown-headed gulls can be seen flying over thousands of miles from the Mediterranean Sea. The scene is extremely spectacular.
