Populus euphratica is a kind of magical and ancient plant. It can live for a thousand years without dying, die without falling for a thousand years, and fall without decay for a thousand years. It is a unique and precious forest resource in desert areas. It grows in deserts and Gobi. Salt-alkali, anti-wind and sand, and other characteristics, the vitality is extremely tenacious, and it is known as the patron saint of the desert.
I remember it was described in "Praise of Populus euphratica" like this: through the prehistoric universe, condensed the mysterious yellow of heaven and earth, Populus euphratica forest, as the earliest plant community, miraculously created the green and hope of life on this lucky planet. Years of vicissitudes, accustomed to the cold world, Populus euphratica has become the last left-behind species. In this harsh environment, it brilliantly interprets the value and power of survival.
Who can be so tenacious? Drought-resistant, cold-resistant, salt-alkali-resistant, wind-resistant, sand-resistant, and disaster-resistant, the roots are ten meters deep to absorb nutrients, and the branches and leaves grow long three years after the rain. Can be so bold and unrestrained? Live for a thousand years without dying, die for a thousand years without falling, fall down for a thousand years and live forever, hold high the banner of life, fight against the vast yellow sand all year round, willing to garrison in the vast Gobi!
There are Populus euphratica in many areas in Northwest my country. The famous ones are Ejina in Inner Mongolia, Luntai in Xinjiang, Golmud in Qinghai, Mulei in Xinjiang, Jinta in Gansu, and Yiwu in Xinjiang. , while the Populus euphratica forest in Golmud is the highest Populus euphratica forest in the world.
The most beautiful season to appreciate Populus euphratica forest is autumn. Everyone is familiar with the golden and picturesque beauty of Populus euphratica, but what is the scene of Populus euphratica forest in summer? Do you know? This is a group of photos we took when we came to Golmud Populus euphratica Forest Desert Park in Qinghai in July. Let’s take a look together.
Golmud Populus euphratica forest generally refers to the Golmud Populus euphratica Forest Reserve, but the reserve is usually not open to tourists. The place we came to is called Golmud Populus euphratica Forest Desert Park, which belongs to the same area as the Populus euphratica Forest Reserve. 15 kilometers, but the size and density of Populus euphratica is slightly inferior, and it is a free and open tourist attraction.
It is about 50 kilometers away from the urban area. Looking around, there is a vast Gobi. Except for a few Achnatherum splendens, there are only Populus euphratica trees on the dunes. Although the scale does not look large, these poplar trees standing in the dunes Still shocking, their tenacious vitality makes us have to sigh the magic of nature.
In the Populus euphratica Desert Park, there are still some cabins for tourists to stay in, but I don’t know if they are still under construction or not in season. When we arrived, they were not open. My personal guess is that it is the off-season of Populus euphratica, and tourists are less (When we arrived, there were no other tourists), it was temporarily closed, and it should be open when there are more tourists in autumn.
Populus euphratica is the only tree species that can naturally form forests in the desert. It has a history of 3 to 6 million years. In order to absorb water in an extremely dry environment, its root system can grow up to 15 meters and spread around. It is resistant to high temperature and severe cold, and can survive tenaciously under the temperature of plus or minus 39 degrees. It is also resistant to salt, alkali and wind and sand. It is known as the patron saint of the desert.
