1. Introduction to Yadong

Yadong is a county under the jurisdiction of Shigatse City, Tibet. It is located in the south of Tibet and at the southern foot of the middle section of the Himalayas, with an average altitude of 3,500 meters. It is wide and high in the north and narrow and low in the south. The top of the mountain is covered with snow all the year round, the mountainside is densely forested, and the clear river flows quietly at the foot of the mountain. The air here is warm, the vegetation is dense, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant, the folk customs are simple and the scenery is beautiful, like a beautiful and peaceful painting, it is known as "Tibet's Little Jiangnan".

Yadong borders Bhutan and India. In ancient times, it was an important station on the ancient tea-horse road, and now it is also one of China's top ten frontier towns. As an important channel for Sino-Indian trade, Yadong Port is open from June 1st to September 30th every year.

2. Itinerary in Yadong

On May 2, 2019, from Gyantse to Yadong via Duoqing Lake and Zhuomulari Mountain Pass, the mileage on that day was 216 kilometers, mainly along the 204 Provincial Highway.

On May 3, I was active around Yadong, mainly going to Lower Yadong Town and the nearby forests. I traveled 64 kilometers that day, traveling along the Ya (Yadong) Nai (Nathula Pass) Road, Sri Lanka Tee forest fire escape and other roads.

On May 4th, from Yadong via Gyantse to Shigatse, the mileage of the day was 301 kilometers, mainly on Provincial Highway 204 and Shigatse Airport at high speed.

3. Road conditions along the way

From Gyantse to Yadong, the main road is 204 Provincial Highway, the road condition is generally good, the third-class road, asphalt road surface, the road condition is good. From Pali Town to Yadong County, entering the mountainous area, the 43.7-kilometer mountain road requires at least 81 minutes for the car to leave the speed limit zone.

Yadong to Gyantse to Shigatse, Yadong to Gyantse is the return route; Gyantse to Shigatse, mainly along the 204 Provincial Highway, Shigatse Airport Expressway and 318 National Highway, the overall road condition is good.

4. Stay in the hotel

On May 2 and 3, 2019, I stayed at Yadong Snow Mountain Shengyu Hotel. This is a hotel equivalent to a three-star standard. It is already good in remote areas. The hotel is located near the entrance of Yadong County. 1. Yadong Duoqing Lake (Sentimental Lake)

Duoqing Lake is located in Duna Township, Yadong County, Tibet, 60 kilometers away from Yadong County. Zhuomulari Snow Mountain is located in Pali Town, Yadong County, 50 kilometers away from the county seat. It is 7,326 meters above sea level and steep. It is the seventh peak of the Himalayas. It is composed of Early Paleozoic strata and Himalayan granite It is also known as Goddess Peak, and Provincial Highway 204 passes through the foot of the mountain.

3. Qumei Xionggu Anti-British Memorial Hall

It is located next to Provincial Highway 204 about two kilometers south of Guru Village, Tuna Township, Yadong County. It was built to commemorate the most distressing "Qumei Xionggu Massacre" in the history of Tibet's anti-British resistance. It includes a tall monument , all-glass transparent memorial hall and wide memorial square and other supporting service facilities.

5. Lower Yadong

Lower Yadong is located 12 kilometers south of Yadong County. It is a town under the jurisdiction of Yadong County. It borders India and Bhutan. The Yadong Port is located at the Nathula Pass between China and India. There are high mountains and deep valleys, lush forest vegetation, hanging waterfalls in the mountains, and gurgling water at the bottom of the valley. Since the port was not yet open in May, and the road leading to the port was under construction, other vehicles were not allowed to pass, so we could only walk around in the primeval forest near Xiayadong, and walked for a while at the Sti forest fire escape.

We also went around the ruins of the Yadong Customs in the Qing Dynasty. Although we didn’t see the ruins, we encountered a group of long-tailed langurs. We fed them some biscuits, but they rushed to our car. We were so scared that we ran away.

6. Yadong Street View
