Is the ecology of Tengchong good? Is the environment beautiful? Are humans livable? Tengchong's ecological "spokesperson" butterfly will answer you. Because butterflies respond faster to the environment than birds and other insects, and are currently internationally recognized as indicators of environmental changes. Butterflies are an "indicator" of ecological quality, and only places with a good environment can attract butterflies to "stop".

In the long process of evolution, butterflies have formed a stable relationship with climate elements, laying a material foundation for their life development, evolution, survival and reproduction. The impact of climate change on the ecological environment can be judged through the composition, structure, diversity and dynamics and trends of butterfly populations. Scientifically reflect the effect of climate change on the ecosystem from the biological level.

Tengchong is located on the west slope of the southern section of Gaoligong Mountain. Its unique geographical location and excellent natural environment provide a better living space for butterflies. Currently, more than 200 species of butterflies have been recorded in Tengchong. The butterflies are mainly composed of species in the Himalayas and the mountainous areas of southwestern Yunnan. Representative butterfly species include Tibetan Salong butterfly, Chuanglong butterfly, multi-tailed swallowtail butterfly, Tibetan haiku butterfly, etc. Among them, there is a unique butterfly species in the Gaoligong Mountains—— Gaoligong Tailed Clam Butterfly. In addition, some tropical species from the Ayeyarwady River Plain also visit Tengchong at any time, which together constitute the diverse butterfly facies of Tengchong, making Tengchong one of the most concentrated areas of butterfly species.

Dazhuba (Location: Forest Protection Point of Dazhuba, Mingguang Town Autonomous Village)
Features of the route: Dazhuba is a valley surrounded by primeval forests. Its basin is gentle, with a large green grassland with mixed trees in the middle, and a clean small river runs through it quietly. The view here is wide, and there are often large groups of butterflies absorbing water gathered beside the stream. It is also a good place to watch all kinds of swallowtails and white butterflies. If you are lucky, you may also hear the call of the Gaoligong gibbon in the forest.
